  • I like a simple and relaxing bedroom. While this is definitely not the most minimal room on youtube, it's a space that my partner and I enjoy and it works really well for us.
In this room tour I show where I store my capsule wardrobe and other clothes, some of my plants, and talk a bit about our seed pillows. I hope you find it interesting!
    More info:
    NASA's top air-filtering plants www.mnn.com/hea...
We sleep on organic spelt seed husk and millet seed husk pillows, and have organic cotton duvets from a German company called Grüne Erde www.grueneerde.... but you can find similar products from lots of different brands.

Also sorry about the shaky camera, I'm a huge hand-talker - it's challenging to film steady and talk at the same time!

I´m Norwegian and very rarely do you see only one big blanket in Scandinavia/ northern Europe. Always two separate duvets. I think it is because of the cold winters. Everyone has their own duvet so they keep warm without anyone else pulling on it and letting cold air in.

I implemented your method of having a specific spot for both me and my husband to neatly fold our "can be worn again" clothes and it's made such a difference! Those clothes no longer end up on the floor! I love all the great ideas I get from your videos. I've watched many of them more than once. Thanks for sharing you home with all of us!

    • @MyGreenCloset
      @MyGreenCloset  Před 9 lety

Really happy it's working out well for you! I found it made a big difference too, all my clothes used to end up on the floor and picking wrinkly clothes off the floor definitely didn't encourage me to re-wear them.

I loved your bedroom. I'm currently working on de-cluttering my room so this was perfect inspiration. I also really loved the idea of each person having a blanket. My boyfriend is always hot and I'm cold, so it seems logical for each person to have something for their comfort level.

    • @MyGreenCloset

Laura Neuzeth If you both sleep more comfortably at different temperatures, having separate blankets is amazing -everyone gets a better sleep! I highly recommend trying it :)

One of the first things I thought when looking at your room is crazy how big American closets are (especially in the master bedroom) compared to the wardrobe you use. We really do live in excess. Your bedroom is very relaxing - thanks for sharing :)

My husband and I started using separate blankets shortly after we moved in together 9 years ago. We're both sort of blanket hogs and like to cocoon up when we sleep so we never had enough of one blanket for both of us. Also, like you guys, we have different warmth needs when it comes to the blankets themselves. Having 2 blankets makes the bed a little messier but we both sleep better. I'm pretty sure it's not "common" here in the US but it works for us!

I really like the idea of seed pillows. Going to talk to my husband about it tomorrow. We have kids and our pillows are always stained and we wash them so much and they're starting to get on my nerves. I think seed pillows would be really comfy. And the two blankets thing is something we'd totally do. He's always hot and I'm always cold. Great video.

Another tip for sleeping warmer ist to use sheepskin. But it has to be a real one to work. You just put it in your bed, right where your back would be and sleep on it. Once I borrowed my mother's while I was sick and extremely cold - it had me sweating in no time and kept me almost too warm afterwards.

  • @alifewithluna4134

I loved this! for some reason your bedroom made me so happy! in part I think it's because its so serene and quiet looking- but the fact that there was only just enough (if that makes sense) made me happy.I also think the plants did it for me! I ADORE PLANTS! (I have a pothos that is over 250 ft long ) It was easier to appreciate the true loveliness. I don't know how common it is to have two blankets in the US it's not, but in my home my husband and I do; mainly because he like to be buried by a comforter and sheets and I prefer a lighter, summer cover. Your bed linens are really lovely btw! I am so interested in those pillows- I have serious issues with finding a pillow that fits me and wont give me a headache and a stiff neck; I'm definitely going to look into that! You are such a genuine person, It literally just emanates from you! you are one of my favorite youtbers! keep up the awesome work.
Ps- I'd love to see a bathroom tour!

My parents always had two seperate blankets/duvets. Here in the Netherlands it sure isn't uncommon. I am far worse, I have a 2 person duvet for myself while my husband just has a thin 1 person duvet. I really like to curl up in them :) He has two pillows though, while I have only one very thin bellysleeping pillow. So our bedding is very personalized to our personal preferences.

I know some people who love physical books and don't like the experience of reading on an e-reader. That is a good and complex question. I have a back problem and I need to exercise. I usually do it for a few months after my doctor scolds me and, then, many things get in the way and I quit. :( Apart form that, I would like to improve my physical preparation. I don't know if the life of people around me will change, but, I believe everybody would be a little surprised to see me exercising since they all know for a fact that I am not a "sports person". Sorry for the long text, that was more like a reflexion. Maybe I need more discipline than motivation to exercise. rs

spacheco92 Thank you! They are a lot harder to find, but possible. You have to search for 'möbliert' we mostly looked on www.wg-gesucht.de/ and another site we tried is www.immobilienscout24.de/ You can often find furnished apartments for shorter-term rentals because the tenant is going on a trip or working somewhere else for a while and those can be good to get settled in the city and look for a longer-term place.

Aisha Zee it's a selection of clothing from your entire wardrobe. generally you have one for each season. research Courtney carver project 333. she suggests a wardrobe of 33 items for each season including shoes and accessories. the goal is to have an interchangeable wardrobe that you love and reduce the stress and daily decision making on what to wear 😊

You're bedroom look serene and lovely. My husband and I used to do the two blanket thing a few years ago. We thought we made it up. Is it common in Germany? I'd love to know a bit more about the cherry pit pad. How do you heat it and why do you prefer it to a hot water bottle? Thanks!

Bookish & Belle It seems to be quite common in Germany, most people and hotels I've seen have them.
Honestly the cherry pit pad is a little strange, you have to heat it up in the oven on kinda low for about 10 minutes. I got it because we didn't have a microwave for a long time so I couldn't use those microwaveable neck/should wraps (I think they usually have rice in them?). I like that it's flexible and can be wrapped around your shoulders and the hard pits are kind of massaging in a way but I wouldn't say it's better than a hot water bottle. It definitely doesn't retain the heat as long as water and I always feel bad wasting power heating it up- in the winter I'd put it in the oven after cooking or in the warming tray but especially now that it's getting hotter out I don't like turning on the oven. It's also supposed to work well as a cold pad but I haven't tried that yet.
haha wow this got long, basically I wouldn't really recommend it - as a hot neck wrap it's a good option but just as a heating pad for cramps or the bed or something I think hot water bottles are probably better. :)

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll stick with a hot water bottle. I do have one of those rice pads (a stuffed animal actually) but I can only use it as a cold pad because I don't have a microwave either.

I think it's quite common to have separate duvets in Denmark, but probably not so much in the UK. Which country are you living in?

+My Green Closet Yes, it is common to have a blanket for each person. In our case we have 3: one for me, one for my husband and one for my daughter ;)
