I love how that this was the first time we really see them get cuddly with each other, but by the way they play the scene you get the feeling that they been doing it for quite some time.

One of the many reasons why I really like The X Files is because of such beautiful music in each episode. In the particular case of Requiem, those violin and piano sounds in the background are just unique. I don't think there is a show out there past and present that features such amazing instrumental music. Mark Snow is truly a genius...

Dana Michaels Not only the music, but the lighting on this show is often so beautiful....frequently on Scully’s face. Gillian is lovely now, and she was stunning during the original show.

one of the saddest scenes of the entire show for me. mulder telling her she needs to go home and do something with her life, basically telling her to step away from him as well because he feels responsible for everything bad that happened to her. he loves her so much that he literally sacrifices his own happiness for her to have a >not dangerous< life 😭 and scully almost crying because she just wants to be with him, have a baby and be a family. im SAD. she's also pregnant there and that makes even more sad 😔

Nah. You gotta come up with your own head canon. This show implies so much and is vague about certain things so I think we’re at liberty to decide some things too. There’s no way they would have walked a way from each other. She might have walked away from the FBI but not him. There’s no way he’d ever let her out of his site and to me he doesn’t seem to be breaking up with her he’s telling her there’s more to life than this. I mean they were already trying to have a baby together it’s not like they didn’t think about what that would look like.
@@emilybarker3240 For sure. He isn't letting her go with him because they are trying to conceive. He wants her safe. Plus in the later episodes we find out he has some virus or cancer and he thinks he's dying. She would chain herself to him and he knows it so he's just trying to do for her what she won't do for herself.
I read that entirely differently. When he says there is more than this and this has to end he kisses her and touches her, so to me it is pretty obvious he means the job, but offers the open relationship

What's really interesting is that Mulder has no qualms about just going over and spooning Scully. He doesn't even hesitate and Scully is comfortable with it. These are the subtle moments in this season where you see that there's something happening off screen between them. more flirty, and more romantic, and i honestly believe David/Gillian are playing this too to show the relationship has turned sexual off screen. You can feel something has shifted and they're lovers.
They had slept together by this time.
Aside from this, my favorite moment of the episode was towards the beginning when they were getting hassled about the cost of their investigations. Mulder’s solution?
That he and Scully start sharing their hotel rooms. ;)
Ehh I don't know. I really like this post, seriously I do, but idk I find the whole "they were totally dating/together off screen" thing a bit annoying, like instead of actually going through the hassle of writing these two antisocial, loveable, workaholics together the writers were just like "oohhhh!! yeeeaah they're together but who knoooows??? it's the x-files baby which means we don't need to write in actual character development because our loyal, intelligent fanbase will do it for us!". Eh. Who cares anyway right?

The season 7 is called "the one of the secret sex". It was never showed when they slept together for the first time ( "All things" implied sex, but it wasn't their first time). It may have been happened even in the season six. We'll never know.

It would very fitting that Mulder and Scully slept together in his motel room right before he was abducted. The way they cuddle with each other very couple like. It's like they are definitely having an a affair in season 7 which they've kept secret due to them not wanting to lose their partnership.

This was a big deal at the time! I miss that.
I haven't seen any of the revival series (and, by all accounts, I'm not missing much) but I read that Mulder and Scully had "grown apart". That's bullshit. How can they grow apart? That's not how their relationship works, that's not how it's ever worked. They're not an ordinary TV couple. Their relationship transcends everything and is indestructible, it's a relationship that the viewers can't even aspire to. How did the writers just forget that? It was part of the point of the show.
Scully doesn't look the same in the revival, and it was one of reasons I hated it. The Scully we know, that one we last saw in season 9 finale (forget IWTB), would never EVER leave Mulder. I'll never watch the revival again, too much bs.
Don’t worry. They grew back together. With remarkable speed. Like nothing whatsoever had changed. Almost as if breaking them up in the first place was totally unnecessary.

So this is how I see it. Season 8 ends with them together with their baby. Then season 9 mulders gone, Scully gives up baby but they end up being together still. In the movie they are very much together sharing a house. In season 10-11 they grow back together and end up with yet another baby. So I just skip all the drama - toss it up to a fever dream and decide that they just end up together with William. It’s where the story would have concluded I think if the writers nkew when the x files was ending.
You need to watch the rest of the seasons and some of the questions are answered. They kind of start being answered in the second movie with his depression. She can't watch him self-destruct, yada, yada...but we all know they are joined at the soul so they work their way back and are better for it.

No doubt, their Hotel room talks were gold, absolute gold. Doggett wasn't bad but let's face it she was in love Mulder and felt like were just replacing the man who was her soulmate. Doggett and Reyes actually did a great job stepping in.

I have a love hate realationship with season 9 I love it cuz Doggett and Reyes (If I spelled that right) but Mulders not there I know why he wasnt in the show. But without him I dont feel like Im watching to X-files.
This was exatcly my feeling about Season 9. Mulder and Scully make the XFiles the best show ever, Mulder and Scully, *are* the XFiles. In Season 9 the XFiles was incomplete, because there was just Scully.

She was probably already pregnant and shouldn't have been working the case. This is the first time they really got cuddly together.

What frustrates me is that by this point, in fact long before this point, the relationship is inevitable and obvious and yet Chris Carter just refused, like he was allergic to romance or incapable of writing it, and so then when it was acknowledged it was done in such a terrible way, in a way neither Mulder or Scully would accept, and just out of desperation by the writers and as a plot device, it just ruined everything that had been built by all the previous seasons. So this epic love story between them was totally mangled. And now knowing what we know from season 10 and especially the terrible season 11, it’s just heartbreaking for fans whether they wanted a romance or not. I’m glad Gillian said she won’t go back, so there can’t be anymore travesties of narrative or characterisation.
Which of us fans didn't want more than what we got from CC in the MSR but they all agreed (GA, DD, and CC) their romance would not make it to the screen. It was angst for us but it gave us the ability to fill in the blanks our way that's why there is so much fanfic.
I like tv series couples but eventually I always started to hate them for some reasons except these two
