  • I recently purchased the Mackie Mobile Mix to use with my portable battery powered DJ system. So far I'm loving it.
Here is an Amazon affiliate link to purchase it. The channel makes a little money when you use the links to purchase items.

I still use a compact Mackie mixer product from 2008 ! I bought 2 of them just before Mackie sold out to China - last of the USA products that were very excellent / high end - it's called the U.420d series.... the 'd' is DJ I think as it has 2 phono channels , cross fader, and 3 other inputs . it's perfect for radio stations, podcast production , has Firewire in and out (you can input firewire audio from the laptop !) I have used this mixer more than any other mixer I have because it's the cornerstone to my Vinyl to Digital transfer business since I bought them.. , the firewire output is part of that magic and the phono stage is top notch - even comparing it to the modern Rane 72 mixer, it is flat as any high end phono to digital stage available now. I have never 'gigged' with it but it is designed for that as well but the weak link is the cross fader (nothing special) too small of a cross fader for me but no one would notice but me LOL - each section has full EQ which are nice on the Mackie you can kill any frequency , and has AUX send as well - no battery powered in this compact mixer though LOL . Good review looks like a clever piece of kit.

Thanks! I had to look up that U420d mixer. It looks pretty cool.

@@logisticalstyles in over 15 years of use...they still work - the only thing that happens on both is the VU led meters sometimes glitch but they don't affect the audio chain. Testimony to the quality at the time. They work with the oldest of macbooks with firewire (pismo) and the modern ones if you have the thunderbolt to firewire adapter. When they come up for sale they are usually only $100 I got the second one for $50 , always NIB when I find them online.

Who needs to hear about an old mixer that isn't available anymore and what's the relevance of the company being sold to China? Even the companies who aren't Chinese owned have their products manufactured there. If you're going to throw shade at China, then you'll have to get rid of half the stuff you already own, unless you're a hermit living in a cave.

How’s the sound coming out of that mixer? I had the Behringer flow 8 but didn’t really like the preamps and output. If you don’t need that big of a mixer you can power a Yamaha mg06 with a battery bank using a step up adapter from myvolts.

The sound is very good. I used this with my RCFs and they sounded great with the Mackie mobile mix. I was worried the sound would be low because it's battery powered but it wasn't at all.
