    The Onewheel is ridden by mounting the board with rear foot first and then placing the front foot on the pad pressing both sensors on the left and right side of front footpad. When the rider comes to level, the motor will engage and begin self-balancing. The Onewheel will accelerate forward when the rider leans forward and decelerate when the rider leans back. Turning is accomplished similarly to a skateboard or snowboard. Leaning the body toward toe or heel side of the board will cause the board to track side to side.

    For a crowded urban environment -I ride mine around Manhattan- with so many people and obstacles around, the segway let's you both go super slow, stop without dismounting, and turn on a dime. I see my friends on one wheals struggle, it basically can't be done. Lots of awkward little circles and having to jump off from going real slow behind people.

      I live in Manhattan too. I have electric unicycles and hesitated to buy this as it feels like training wheels. But I went ahead and bought it for the exact reasons you articulated. My only concern is being able to bring it into stores, restaurants, Macy’s, etc.

      @@TheLillianYoung honestly i find most people are too amused to object or just don't care. Mostly the latter. In stores i just set it down because I think of it as unstealable, i keep it in sight. At restaurants it tucks under a table without issue. They usually even let me charge it. The only place that turned me away was my office building. Be sure you get the More4Motion upgrade!

      Segway hits a bump and you could launch into a jog because their is no handle bar to trip you and your facing forward all the time and you could stand still easier. Segway is a serious OPDMD mobility device with additional safety mechanisms.

    • @onlysublime
      @onlysublime Před 2 lety

      @@mrengineerAZ out of box, the Segway has a very low speed limiter. when you hit the speed limiter, the segway will lean backward to prevent you from going faster. It can get really annoying but can even be dangerous in some situations where it leans very far back. However, there are software upgrades out there to increase the speed limiter significantly (and very easy to do but none of the upgrades are free; the upgrade I chose, I paid the money and the guy walked me through how to upgrade the segway from my android phone since there is an app that connects your phone to the segway). and if you increase the diameter of your tires, combined with the speed limiter mod, you can get serious speed (because the number of revolutions/second is the same but now you're increasing the circumference or distance covered in that revolution). The Segway takes far far far less skill than the Onewheel. I've never seen a beginner ride a Onewheel successfully on their first try even if they're an experienced skateboarder. But I've seen klutzes ride the Segway their first try. In fact, my dad and grandfather could ride my Segways (I own 4 of them). I feel the advantages of the Onewheel are rough terrain and speed. The advantages of the Segway are accessibility, comfort, and range. there really shouldn't be a "who will win" as I feel they are different. Oh, there are third party handlebars for the Segway which is the way I upgraded mine since I wanted my brothers and dad to be able to ride them easily. With the handlebar, the Segway is so so easy to ride. With the knee bar, I feel the Segway takes some skill (though not as much as the Onewheel) especially on banked terrain (since the Segway focuses on forward/rear balance and you have to do the left/right balance yourself). I've nearly lost balance a few times when I enter any U-shaped terrain at speed. anyway, I'm entering TLDR so I'll stop.

If you lean in while the Segway beeps, it will let you keep going 12.5 MPH. Gotta be careful if you hit a bump too fast and your weight stays off the Segway for more than a second it will shut Off and faceplant. I felt the motor shut off and caught myself, then rolled out, but once you understand why it happened, No problem. I mount a go pro on the Spare that follows me around town. I have a couple videos

    I am interested in either the OneWheel or Ninebot for use with shooting video. I don't need the faster speed of the OneWheel. I am mainly concerned about which of the two would be most stable when shooting with a large cinema camera. Does the sideways stance of the OneWheel vs the side by side stance of the Ninebot favor shooting with a camera? Does the sideways stance offer additional support when starting and stopping? I'm guessing the sideways stance of the Ninebot might be less stable and top heavy. BTW, I never used a skateboard, nor have I done any snowboarding.

      @yuding237 Před 11 měsíci

      The segway definitely is better, if u see, the Olympic videographers use segway and bend their knees to film, and it's definitely more stable than the onewheel cuz u can slow down easily, and even come to a stop without dismounting, and side to side balancing is already done for you because there are 2 wheels, but for the onewheel, as the name states there's only one wheel, which makes the board unstable at all directions. If u need a stable vehicle for shooting, defo use a segway

      Technically one could say that they both look “dorky”. But if you want to go farther, more comfortably in a straight line get the Segway. If you want to tool around like you think you are skateboarding, get a Onewheel…or you could just get an electric skateboard that looks cooler than both of these, technically.
