I spent a week learning how to fly gliders about a decade ago. It was in Georgia during the peak of summer, so it was hot and humid with tons of big fat clouds. I remember there was one day in particular with just the right conditions for some monster thermals. The cloud base was around 10,000 ft AGL, and I took that L-23 Super Blaník all the up to them. Let me tell you, nothing compares to skimming dark grey clouds on a hot summer day 10,000 feet above the ground. I could feel the water droplets on my skin when I opened the air vent on the canopy. I felt so free. The flight lasted about 80 minutes, but it felt so much shorter. I could have been up there for hours, but unfortunately my instructor had to pee so I brought us down. We had to fully extend the air brakes in order to fight the strong updrafts during our descent.
I am super jealous of that experience! I would love to learn how to fly in real life but don't have the time (or money) to learn. I have to settle for flight sim to get that experience. Thank you for sharing your experience!
@@theinsuredgamer3200 gliding is really not that expensive! have a look into it, particularly winch launched gliders which i believe are more popular in europe and is what we use at my gliding club.

I hit a nice sweetspot with my settings thanks to this vid. Had to tone down the settings because it really does beam you up there!
