I found the name for it 9 years ago. I had always thought I was weird because I would ask people "you get tingles when you see, or hear certain things?". People would look at me weird. Then one day I saw something, some video, said ASMR...then another, then another... and was like "MY PEOPLES!!!"

One of my unintentional ASMR experiences was in the public library when I was sitting at a desk reading a book and a guy was loudly pulling books out of his backpack and making a lot of noise flipping through his binders at his desk. Instead of being annoyed by all the noise he was making I was getting massive tingles in my back and scalp and enjoyed the feelings while it lasted which was about 10 minutes. It almost put me to sleep at my desk.

Libraries, palaces of ASMR. I remember as a young child hearing librarians flipping through pages, and especially stamping the date with those old mechanical stampers. Tingles and goosebumps - didn’t know it was only some people who get to experience this joy!

Omg does anyone remember the extremely satisfying and soft crinkle of the super thin laminating plastic they'd put on book covers???? Omg i havent thought of that in years... Also, slightly different note... In kindergarten (late 90s for me) i would check out the same book over and over because i loved the SMELL of the book. Library books smelled so good... I haven't been in a library in years but they used to feel almost sacred to me, i loved my trips to the library.

Print your report or whatever, and tear off the edges and HOPE TO HELL you don't accidentally tear the important part of the paper, and SWEAR like a construction worker if you DO tear it and realize you've gotta print 1 or more pages all over again. Also same for separating each page. Rinse and repeat until you finally get a clean separation along the perforations. I remember that but I DO NOT miss it.💥💥😥😅

This is wonderful. If you like this kind of thing, watch the scene in Phantom Thread when Reynolds is measuring Alma upstairs. All of the noises and his small amount of speech is fantastic. There is more than just that one scene in that film for that sort of thing, but that is the best one for just the little sounds.. sliding footsteps on a wood floor, scissors snipping, even hooking up the back of a garment... good stuff.

Im no librarian but I am fairly certain the repairs would last a little bit longer if they weren’t trying to use smart balance as adhesive.

If this book would have been a priceless antique book, they would have sent it to the on expert, not the librarian doing it.

Well, most library books are meant to be read, so yeah. I suppose all they really need is for it to hold up to constant use.

A stark contrast to watching them restore a painting. Much more heavy handed. Enjoyable all the same, though.

Maybe it's what Papyrus uses when he realizes the Royal Guard is being disbanded and he'll never get to join it so he decides to become a Librarian instead. That goes along with his Bone Calone I guess.
