Due to the rules. They got the same score with Jade out of bounds twice... Jade was better than Suni. The tiebreaker gave the lead to Suni...

Not gonna lie, I was super surprised that she qualified above Jade, but I saw it coming when Jade stepped out the second time. That said, it’ll be super exciting to see Suni in the finals, I really love her routine!
I love this young lady’s artistry, very graceful, like a dancer, and she’s only 16. Hopefully a long career ahead of her.
And now. She is 2020 Olympic All around Champion. Queen
So proud of her but so saddened for Jade. When I was watching Jade’s routine and saw a couple of missteps here and there I kinda got nervous for her thinking that Suni would qualify instead of her and Suni did. Props to suni tho for doing what I think is the most elegant transition going into a wolf turn and into another one. Effortlessly elegant! Barely any pauses in between elements and really keeps the flow of the routine going.
Jade's two out of bounds steps doomed her. Had she only done it once, she'd be in the lead. Oh well. She beat Simone on vault, so I think Jade will be okay.
Cantor Agreed. Kinda reminds me of 2015 Aly Raisman. Didn’t do so well during quals but came back roaring during the TF.

D Leo Duh. lol. So profound! Simone was uncharacteristically sloppy. She’s likely to throw the Biles at some point. Had she done it, she obviously would have lead, even being sloppy. Defending Simone at this point given her accomplishments is a bit absurd. She’s obviously the GOAT, but she is human. She was obviously pissed after her performance. She can do way better. Everyone knows that.
She made up for it in Tokyo- floor champion!! And Suni? The queen of the all around!
I love her gymnastic. I hope to see Sunisa in Tokyo in 2021. Great routine!!

@@IntaGems suni 2 pc'ed her out of finals due to her having the higher E score because jade went oob twice
INTAGems she tied with Suni (after stepping out of bounds once or twice), but Suni had higher execution, which is the tie breaker. Sumo also has better leaps and artistry, so Jade could not afford to make any errors for her technical score and execution to give her points she loses in artistry, flexibility and leaps. She did make the vault final though as top qualifier above Simone, but I think Simone will be doing the Biles vault in event finals to give herself the advantage over Jade when it really counts in the event final, and to give her more point cushion for her landings when she can not control her explosive power. I think tonight she was smart and knew she did not have to do the Biles vault to qualify for event finals, maintain top her top qualifier spot in the all around, or to qualify Team USA, and could focus on the two new skills she was competing to have added to the code of points named after her. But I think she’ll bring that bad boy out in vault finals, as she will not want to give any advantage she has away and leave the door open for Jade to beat her. That’s just my prediction. But Jade for sure will at least win silver, and possibly, possibly gold if Simone makes an uncharacteristic error or does not end up doing the Biles over the Cheng, and doesn’t control her power to minimize that hop on landings. But dang Team USA is solid! Two falls on beam (Grace and Suni), and three out of bounds on floor and they still qualify in first going into Team finals, and Simone the top all around qualifier with those out of bounds (the commentator said in the livestream “but nobody cares because look at that triple double, the Biles 2, and the Biles 1”), her historic beam dismount and two new eponymous skills bearing her name-the hardest skills in the code, and Suni the 2nd place all around qualifier with that beam fall, but a PHENOMENAL bars routine! I think each girl made at least 1 final,if I’m not mistaken.
@@amyg4115 Yeah, I am pretty sure Biles feels very upset with the Vault QF, look at her face :( even she only lose about 0.001... But take a note she lose 0,3 for OOB and only lose lika 0,001 umm yeah....

Kevin S Keep in mind Jade would’ve slaughtered her with better landings. That has less to do with execution and more to do with being on or off that day. Jade generally has better landings. But Suni did better today and that’s what counts

I don’t think she played it safe. she did upgrade bars and beam for 2021 but her floor she took out her last pass because it just wasn’t worth the deductions!

Its like 2015 vibes.. When everyone expected Aly to qualify to floor finals behind Simone. Aly stumbled, and Maggie got her spot in FX finals. Here Jade stumbled, and Suni snatched that spot

Execution and technique matters. Suni had great tumbling and dance. Maybe now Jade will consider ballet. Still a fan but these are GOLD medals on the line.
Or consider staying in bounds... Jade has significant Difficulty upgrades planned. She doesn't need dance class. She needs to control her power. She beat Simone on vault, so she's definitely one of the best in the world. Had Jade done the same routine and stayed in bounds one of the two times, she would have won. They did tie after all. Difficulty matters too.
@@cantor7723 or Jade can switch to Tumbling if she doesnt plan on adding some artistic value. Simone is a power gymnast as well yet some how she manages to add some entertainment value beyond the acrobatic portion. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
@@natashaharris4750 LMAO. Such hubris. Jade had the second highest raw score in the world: 14.4. She'll be fine. The judges know what they are doing.
Cantor Funny you mentioned the “had Jade done this and that... then she would have been in the final.” But you didn’t consider the counter arguement. Why?
Well, had Simone stayed in bounds on vault and had the judges scored properly based on execution (Jade is sloppy and let’s be real didn’t deserve anywhere near the 9.2 or so she received) then Simone would be first in qualifying. Qualifying!!! Bc no one has one yet!
Either way, good job to all the US ladies and others for a great first day of competition.
Tasha Phillips What is wrong with Jade’s vaults other than her form and landings? Pretty much nothing. Her technique is spectacular. You can only deduct form so much.

Love her. And Carey if she had better artistry. I think she would've been above Sunisa even with her errors. Its that artistry thoo that Sunisa likely got points for and Carey didn't. I love em both. But Carey qualified ahead of Biles on Vault how about that!
Brian Patterson I don’t think Jade got deducted for artistry, if so not much. Jade’s routine scored higher than it has domestically, despite it being much sloppier. I think they preemptively deducted artistry domestically, thinking she would be internationally.
@@TheGymSavant Exactly. Jade had a 14.4 raw score. That's a great score, and above Suni. It was the two Out of Bounds Penalties. One was okay, but two was not.
