    I love this yarn and I am not an orange person either. It also reminds me of the yellow and orange candles in my package.

    Love this color way! I have tried this before and always dip dyed. This layering technique is one I need to try. I added a mauve to mine. Little tricky to keep it from muddying the rest, so I used very little. Very nice

    love shaking yarn and twisting in opposite way so methodically, Remnds me of my Hawaiian Sunset hibiscus flowering bush which has a bit more pink and coral. Love this. On my screen the one with the yellow predominating looks like egg yolk yellow! I want to do this week with Pointsettia Red, Pink and green. Great job!

      Thank you, Barbara! I think if you twist tighter you can separate the colors a bit more. Having minis also meant that they re-arranged themselves a bit between twists. It was SUPER fun to dye up.

    Do you ever NOT like how it turns out? I’m new, I’ve only watched 25 videos or so, but so far you have never not liked it! :) So much fun to watch. I need to knit more of my stash do I have an excuse to try some of these ideas!

      I have a video I shared recently titled something like the ugliest yarn I've ever dyed... lol. I talk about this sometimes in my videos. if I go into a project with the mindset- I wonder what will happen if I do xyz, I"m usually happy with the colors. If I try something with a specific outcome in mind and don't hit that, then I might be more disappointed. I do occasionally get things I don't like, but I do try to find the positives most of the TIme.

    OK, yellow and orange are basically two of my least favorite colors.... but when I opened the yarn mop for tonight I actually gasped. It's seriously GORGEOUS. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I'm excited to play with it!!!

      I always get nervous when I do oranges because I know people don't love them. I'm sooo glad you like the mop! (I never really know who gets which night - I just try to make sure that there isn't accidental overlap between the yarn mops and other bonus skeins.)

      I got a lot of requests to do it and I love it. I used to twist the yarn up entirely to dye a lot and this is an easier to manage version. Check out Shirstycat on IG for some incredible dyeing videos instagram.com/shirstycat/

    Very bright and cheerful! I would love to see the same four colors and the same exact method, but apply the colors in the opposite order. I'm curious how similar or different it would look.
    I think if I tried this I would add one more color for a sunset. Hyacinth, maybe, or a dilute hydrangea, or Jacquard lilac. Just a little touch of a pale purple of some sort. The pinks and oranges are more like candleflame to me. Very appropriate for Chanukah!

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  Před 2 lety

      I think a touch of purple would be amazing!
      I don't think the reverse order would have made a huge difference in the way I planed things out this time. My original goal was that if there were bits of white left on the yarn then I could manipulate the yarn that way to get some yellows showing through in the end. BUT there wasn't a lot of white left in the end anyway. :D

      @@ChemKnitsTutorials so I interpret 1 gram total powder includes all the dye colors, per 100 grams of yarn, yes?

    Had to work late today, so I wasn't in time to watch the livestream. Another lovely batch of minis. I especially like the way that, although they are predominantly orange, we still see patches of pink and red and yellow.
    And what delights have you in store for us tomorrow night, I wonder...

    You smash that colorway. Well done. Did the fingering weight end up with more white? I just wondered, from what I saw. I would have expected it to be the other way around. 🌞🐨

      It may have. I think colors tend to go further on DK because there is less twist

  • @sleepydrJ

    Next time maybe move your twist ties before re-twisting so there is more possibility for different variation

    I absolutely love this colorway. Something I was curious about is how do you know the threshold of dye you can put on all the fiber?

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  Před 2 lety +1

      Do you mean about how much total dye you can put on the yarn? With most colors, I often will start with a 1% DOS - 1 g of dye per 100 g of yarn. Some colors you may want to do a 2% or even up to 4, but I don't think I usually go much beyond a 2.5% total depth of shade.
      A lot of this is trial and error and playing with the colors to see which ones strike better than others. (Eg. purple pop is such a bleeder that I use WAY less than 1 g dye per 100 g of yarn) I hope this helps!
