- Summer is on the horizon, but as the Southern Railway poster once stated, summer comes soonest in the south. Hot ambient temperatures would be combined with a cool sea breeze, as the Swanage Railway fronted their Blue timetable. T3 Class - 563 would provide the traction for the day, as it worked 6 return trips through the Isle of Purbeck between Swanage and Norden.
563 is still being trialled and run-in while working services on the railway, as the SR aims to better understand the locomotive, its quirks, and how to regularly obtain better performances from it. As such, the SR have been rostering a variety of crews to work the locomotive, in order for volunteers to gain experience on the Victorian veteran.

Stuffed and mounted in the museum........OR bringing magic to the purbecks. Think I'll take the second option. Congratulations to all whose dedication, cash, and hard work brought this icon to life.
The T3 and the castle couldn't be better, another fine job.
Very much enjoyed seeing a video dedicated solely to the T5. She looks so at home travelling through the Purbeck countryside. Also well done on capturing the b-roll with some of the local deer population ! Thank you.

I watched the big steam adventure episode last night that had the T3 featured in it. What an absolutely beautiful locomotive.
Beautiful video as always! I just recently went for a week down to Swanage with my family and spent a good portion of it at the railway too, which I haven't been to since my childhood days, it's such a beautiful picturesque railway and one that's really looked after well by the people there.
And the trackbed COULD have been lost to a Corfe bypass!

Yes, if the famous five were to step off a train on the 'heritage network' the swanage railway would be the place.
@brianwillson9567 True but it was Corfe Castle that put me in mind of the children. I still have some of my Enid Blyton books from long ago. And now, suddenly I'm 71 years old. Where did the years go?
@bahoonies and Enid Blyton so politically incorrect. Too white, too middle class, too 'unitary family', even the 'gay element' George, so understated. I bet teachers ban famous five from schools nowadays. And, yes, I've still got about ten FF books.

@@bahooniesyes, I still have my famous five books, and love swanage and it's surrounds. And isn't the golf course on the Studland Road the one that features in a couple of the books, brownsea Island, kirrin Island and kirrin Castle at least inspired by Corfe. And, if the books were written today, no doubt Enid would incorporate a game of nudist tennis.

Seems to be developing a few leaks around the piston glands, but it's sounding terrific, particularly in the shot heading tender-first away from Corfe. Is the up platform back in use at Corfe Castle yet?
It's a shame, as the leaks appear to be coming from the same areas as previous, which were fixed not long ago. So this could be chalked up as part of learning the longer-term loco-specific requirements and maintenance. But as you say, sounding terrific nonetheless. Up platform at Corfe is still out of use.
