There's nothing really special about a1, and generally anything that stops 855 will stop a1 unless it's some kind of fly by night company that skimps on safety margins. It's mostly for being more accurate and fragmenting more reliably than 855 not some kind of magical armor piercing round

Have you ever considered doing a “top 5 body armors” video? I’ve learned a lot about firearms on CZcams, but when it comes to body armor, the information available isn’t as well-rounded. 4:47 This is why the NIJ needs to change their standards from using specific cartridges to using a selection of FMJ and armor piercing bullet designs in common calibers (5.56, 6, 6.5, 6.8 ,7mm ect) with ideal sectional density in each one and then establish at what speed they each can penetrate a particular armor. It would be more work but would be way more useful than their current model. You would be able to look at a fancy new military or civilian cartridge and have an educated guess on what NIJ level it could pop through. For example if level 3 can stop 7.62 nato ball ammo can it stop 6.5 creedmoore ball ammo? What about 6.5 grendel ball ammo?

@@JohnSmith-bf1sq Thanks I appreciate it. 22 creedmoor would be very promising. They're getting what 3500+ fps from a 75gr bullet. Those top out around 2800 in a 22" 5.56. Available twist rates they mention of 1:7 would be perfect as well. Could be my answer for armor testing when I want to make sure my M193 is going 3400 fps!

But that's steel. 22-250 twist rates favor lighter varmint bullets, that with lead cores can do a nightmare on steel barrier, but fall very short against ceramic.

I hope the guys can test the brand new lightweight level 4 armor from RMA (1165 m/c), it’s lighter and slightly thinner. I picked up a set yesterday when RMA dropped them because the price was too good to pass up and I can pass on my older RMA plates to a family member or buddy if need be. But I’m curious on what they can do compared to the 1155’s.

I enjoy these videos with the body armor. My question is with how hard the bullet is hitting it, at what point does just the force of the impact become deadly. In other words, when does the force of the impact turn the organs to Jello?
