Beating best player on the planet on his home soil is no joke
Very happy for Prannoy🎉. He has been battling so many injuries and diseases which ate up most important phase of his career despite all this setback he worked hard and at the age of 31 after 2 consecutive quarterfinal defeats he finally got the medal that too defeating axelsen. Salute to his fighter mentality
REALLY AMAZING PRANNOY!! He defeated Viktor in Viktor's home country and many fans which was very difficult to do! I believe Prannoy is going to become a legend besides the rising stars such as Kodai Naraoka, Weng Hongyang, Laksya Sen, Li Shifeng, Koki Watanabe, Ng Tze Yong, and Kunvalut Vitidsarn. All the players you mentioned are a decade younger to prannoy who can play for only 3-5 years more

what bugs me sometimes is that whenever a player beats axelsen mid tournament, he thinks he's won everything and then immediately loses in the next round bcoz of too much complacency

@@rishabh9627kunlavut absolutely is not an Axelsen beater. It'd be Loh or Sen (if he is fit) or players of that type. Quick, explosive and great retrieval skills. Axelsen chews up almost everyone else.

he threw his big lead on set 2 after winning the first set
and then couldnt make a comeback
but signs could be seen in that match already

Eh Pranoy didn't kill LCW and LD though. LCW and LD the only legend that are consistence, unlike Viktor up and down inconsisntence.

Really amazing from Prannoy. Plays almost every tour and then defeats the in-form Viktor Axelsen. Viktor Axelsen skipped so many tours and one would expect he had the advantage of less fatigue but Prannoy was awesome today.

Some of the returns by Prannoy were simply unbelievable. First time I've seen someone make Victor Axelsen monster smashes look returnable.

Well, Viktor's smashes are really returnable for players like prime Momota, LD, LCW and Chen Long back in the days. It's only unreturnable for most of current players.
@@pham1020 Axelsen smashes and overall game has improved a lot too in the last few years so you can't really compare his record when he wasn't consistent to now when he's in monstrous form.
@@shubomb Just his movements are better. His smashing power and steepness are really much the same. In fact, he used to smash more often then he does now. Now he's playing with a bit more control.

The last Senior player (prannoy is 31) from the Lin Dan Era player who is considered a formidable opponent for axelsen, no one else has even come to close to challenging victor. There is not going to be a return for momota and kidambi.
