They are not asking anything from the crowd. The fans live and breathe for these songs. The guitarist once said in an interview that they have songs where lead singer Hansi actually doesnt have to sing anything because the fans knows and sings every word. And that is a big part of this band involving the crowd like this. This is such an epic performance from both band and crowd. Loved this reaction. Thank you :)
Actually, this entire shenanigan with the crowd singing Valhalla after the song's finished started by people just keeping singing the chorus for minutes, not letting the band get a word in, who wanted to move on to the next song. After some time they just accepted it and made it their own, by having these playalongs and whatnot.
@@domaniac9119 Hansi already said that this would be the very last song.
The public didn't want the band to stop.
This is how a 80k choir sounds....
I was there during this show and the crowd kept singing Valhalla and The Bard's Song all night, long after the band had gone off stage. 80 000 people, you could have gone up to anyone of them, asked them to sing any of these two songs and they would have.
Yeah, was so glad to tick "sing The Bards Song with BG" from my bucket list that day :D
They were not even headlining that evening :D Thats crazy. The band afterwards I cant remember who it was

This is Wacken where a great crowd of 82,000 metal-heads meets the best metal bands who are on their A game when they come there! BG is a legend and here in their homeland they are loved and revered if this does impress that point on you nothing will. Shout to the sound engineers at Wacken as almost everything you get from a band that performs there is truly awesome to experience. Wacken is a "Bucket List" item for anyone who loves music not just metal music, as you see the community interaction is just sensational.
So true! But you have to prepared ;) czcams.com/video/sIaAaxH6WJI/video.html
If you have a chance one day, react to "and then there was silence" a really progressive and extraordinary song from BG.
Point of no return is also amazing.....but maybe that would be to much for him ^^
I was there. Just one word: goosebumbs. And If you are silent you can even hear them singing. The bard is more a prayer than a song.
Notable understatement of the day . “A bit of a contrast there”.
contrast not contract. Das eine ist ein Kontrast und das andere ist ein Vertrag. ;-)
@@benedictmohr1075 danke. Corrected. I’m English btw. Just have fat fingers.
You can find in YT an older show probably in Wacken too. When then end Valalla, the audience continued to sing and they picked up the song for a few minutes, and that was in the middle of the show, not the last song ! It's awesome and very cool.
Here is this concert : czcams.com/video/CZ_VFJn2kJM/video.html
So epic. Have been looking for this cause i saw it years ago but couldnt find it when i searched recently, so thank you for posting the link :) I remember the video i saw back then was around 9 minutes long and featured the crowd going even longer than in this one
The older Valhalla video is from the Blind Guardian Open Air 2003 in Coburg (Bavarian in Germany). You can find it on the Imaginations through the looking glass DVD.
Oh you discovered an another german Band. They are a stable here.. Metal legends. 🤘
Stay safe Jim, u were great as always 👍
There are some versions of the Bard's Song where Hansi sings even less, just the intro, his high part and the end. So amazing.
BG was formed 1984 (under another name)! Their songs are inspired by Tolkien and Stephen King. He is one of the guest vocalists in Ayreon s The Day the World breaks down! Perhaps Mirror Mirror next? Stay well!
Lucifers Heritage
Their songs are inspired by all kinds of books not just tolkien and stephen king. some songs are inspired by movies and some even by games
Well, well, Now go check Hansi (Blind Guardian) & Marko (Nightwish) in Ayreon's Universe -The Age of Shadows - Ayreon, another rabbit hole for you to jump into.
The song with the endless chorus! Blind Guardian would be on the Rushmore of Power Metal. One of the great all time bands. I started listening to them in the early 90s, and they've grown so much over the years. It's really too bad they don't have many videos of the best songs. They DO have a 2020 Virtual Wacken 3 song video which is pretty cool.
I’ll check that out! Thanks for the head up 😁
Imaginations through the hourglass concert dvd. Literally my dream setlist of guardian. You can watch the whole thing on youtube
Hansi is one of my favourite vocalists. He has 3 or 4 very distinct modes of singing and the way he moves between them always works so well. For the original studio version of this, it was actually ft Kai Henson of Helloween. His super high screams make that version sound quite different. "Mirror Mirror" is another excellent song that most people seem to recommend. My personal favourite is "Into The Storm", though.
Thank you for the recommendations! I truly appreciate it.
Kai Hansen
@@Templarofsteel88 No idea how I managed to get that wrong despite looking it up just before. Thanks for the correction
Love the atmosphere at a concert when one of these plays
Great stuff. Guardian did a whole album based on Tolkien's book the Silmarillion. The title song Nightfall is amazing, especially the live version. They are awesome.
Blind Guardian are legends. Good choice. I miss Wacken.
It's Goosebump time standing in the crowd during the Bardsong and singing along - I have done it more than once ... love it ...
And I skipped the night, totally drunken in my car backseat. I felt death the next morning.. the only thing i can remember was all the ppl singing Valhalla until morning all over the camping ground constantly waking me up🤣
Wacken's not a show. It"s a yearly 3 day & night long Event held in Germany's north. 80K+ People come from all over the World to the Nordic-based Festival. ⭐
I was there that night and sang every word. :D Loved to be a member of the Circle of the Bards.
BTW: that was the last night of a three day festival, and having been on my feet with heavy boots all the time, I got cramps in both legs during that. Was still worth it. :D
Do Mirror Mirror. It's the third of their signature songs and for my money the best.
Love blind guardian they are awesome, Hansi has a great voice. Would recommend Demons and Wizards too same vocalist. So good too. Thankyou.
I love that this popped up in my recommended tonight - Wacken 2016 was my first actual contact with Blind Guardian. We were there to see Iron Maiden and Twisted Sister (the other headliners), and while I've heard about these guys before, power metal wasn't really my speed. But this? The crowd's energy, and you don't get this sort of crowd anywhere else except for maybe Hellfest and Woodstock/Pol'And'Rock, it was magical. Valhalla chant was going strong for at least 30 minutes that took us to leave the main festival grounds. Absolutely incredible, so I really enjoyed this little reminder of ye olde times when we had live shows and could hug total strangers in the crowd because the night was over and we just shared something extraordinary...
great reaction to this amazing performance, tnx jim
Glad you enjoyed it
Blind Guardian is my favorite band, so I'll suggest something not obvious: "Bright Eyes" off of their legendary album Imaginations from the Other Side.
A few highlights from Blind Guardian:
Bright Eyes czcams.com/video/MLVh18LYxbg/video.html
Time Stood Still At The Iron Hill czcams.com/video/eDWO8I1OCvg/video.html
The Ninth Wave czcams.com/video/Fn3-uhU6AyY/video.html
Mirror, Mirror czcams.com/video/krEuovybz3E/video.html
Nightfall czcams.com/video/B74eyUOUhz8/video.html
For them in a symphonic power metal mode, the Ninth Wave.
Just ran into this video while watching other Blind Guardian reactions. Great job. 👍
Blind Guardian is my #1 and their music has saved my life a few times. They're unlike any other band. Have you listened to more of them since?
Review suggestion: live version of "And Then There Was Silence" from the 2003 Coburg BG Open Air Fest "Imaginations Through the Looking Glass". I'd love to know what you think of that entire video (it's about 15min song).
Thanks! Stay well. 🤘😎🤘
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 something you might like to check out if you want to hear an epic crowd singing
Depeche mode enjoy the silence live in Berlin
Depeche mode never let me down again live in Paris
The Bard's Song and Valhalla? Yeah, it's pretty safe to say headset guy is a gamer. 🤟😆
Nice reaction.
I Still remember that concert. I felt a little bad to Tarja, she was playing the concert right before Guardian on the other Stage and she couldnt evne get her thanks and goodbye out because the crowd was already chanting "guardian, guardian".
There is actually a live video out there somewhere where the crowd sang 5 minuts after Valhalla the song should have endet, so the band just came back and played for the crowd again, so they can be together a lidle more.
after they left the crowd continued to sing for a good 15 mins after
As other said, "Nightfall" and "Mirror Mirror" are two Songs of Blind Guardian strongly recommended.Of course the live-version.
I also recommend strongly "How many tears" from the band "Helloween" also live, but with the live-version of their "Pumpkins United"-tour, because there you will get all three singers of the Bands history at once. One singer with a guitar also. 😉 From Helloween then also "Keeper of the seven keys" with the same lineup. Really great stuff.
Catchy chorus , could be an alternative name for Blind Guardian :p
They are extraordinary musicians and write with their audience in mind. Almost every song , is memorable.
yeh hansi kursch has a wicked good voice and ya canna go wrong with a 82,000 person sing along the bard's song be on their album the forgotten tales and valhalla be on the album follow the blind
One of my all time favorite bands, true bards of power metal. And I simply enjoy the epic, Tolkien inspired themes. As a next reaction I would suggest And then there was silence, really an epic one about the fall of Troy (Studio version or the one from Imaginations through the looking glass DVD czcams.com/video/yaJEyKYSlo8/video.html). That's by far their best live concert(s) so if you go for live performances, it's best to look in there. Another one you have to check out is Mirror, Mirror. Cheers
those kind of interaction you´ve got to earn. over years.
To be fair to the crowd clapping they were in time until the tempo change in the song it goes from 6/8 to 9/8
This crowd was was a mixed festival crowd , not all of them were there for blind guardian ... think of what goes on in a pure BG Concert, where every single one knows the lyrics 🤩
What Instrument do you play?
The Crowd.
❤
Hansi is the best singing voice in Modern Metall
5:19 that guy in the middle there looks just like your twin brother
Please react to "Mirror Mirror", "Nightfall" and "Mordred's Song" from Blind Guardian's live videos on youtube.
They were playing right befre the headliner :D I dont remmeber who its was but dang... How are you gonna top that with the crowd?
If you like Hansis Voice, you should react to ayreon. There he have two songs with marco together. Age of Shadow and Vehicle of time, I think.
You need helloween - how many tears live. in your life
Yea, Hansi doesn't have to sing too often ;-)
bevore you completely switch to Blind Guardian, please react to Rammstein - Spieluhr
Also a good german metal band is "Eisbrecher" with "Was ist hier los?" for example.
Interesting I just did a reaction to Eisbrecher. It’s not on CZcams due to the nudity but I do have it on my Patreon. I will absolutely react to Spilur as well. I’m not done with Rammstein just yet.
@@JimGames sounds good! Unfortunately i'm not at Patreon.
Please, if possible, react to demons and wizards - crimson king/fiddler on the green live wacken (on youtube it says 2 songs demons and wizards I think). Demons and wizards is a metal supergroup made of members of blind guardian (hansi is in it!) and of members of american power metal legends, iced earth.
Well that sounds interesting! Consider it added to the list. Thanks for the recommendation!
If you re going to react to D&W i would recommend the song terror train.
Try out the holy grail and goodbye my friend
"Really Like this guy's voice", Is watching Bard's Song... Yeah...
Highlander the one - lost horizon, trust me on this
Ok I will.
If the Middle Ages era was a voice it would be Hansi Kursch!
plz react to Shaman Fairy Tale
Is not that hard to play because you're connected with the crowd in a way that things go the way they meant to go. It can be hard when watching from 'outside'...between the crowd and the band there's only one space and one place in time...they are all connected. That's the beauty of music
"I really like this guys voice" - I am not sure if you chose the right song for that :)
