    "The Unspoken Bond"
Some things are better left unsaid. A comfortable silence whispered over the unspoken promise exchanged when your eyes first met. Together you share a grueling conviction. He rewards your dedication with a persistent plea for your companionship. If only he knew the feeling was mutual. On that dark, crisp morning you embark to fulfill his inherent purpose. Four earnest eyes scan the horizon with a concealed intensity when that Lone Duck interrupts the desolate sky. The crack of your gun unleashes a frantic hunger to retrieve his fallen prize. He returns, fully saturated and satisfied, with the fragrance of gunpowder generously lingering. Together you celebrate a promise kept.
Your binding faith is one that most can’t comprehend. They neglect the depth of the instinctive understanding you have for each other. Like the exuberant validation you shared in the field with that first Lone Duck. It’s feelings like this that remind you they’re reserved for a select few. There’s no need to fill them with empty words. Some things are better left unsaid.

I’m a self taught trainer working with my first trained duck dog. You mention it’s very important that the dog learn left back and right back - can I ask why? How does it matter which way he turns so long as he goes where you want? Thanks, love your videos!

Im at this point right now, but the whistle sits dont always come very fast. He is consistent, but not stopping on a dime so to speak. will that come with time? we are about 5 days into Mini-T at this point and he has gone to each of the three piles. I can also alternate Left back/right over and he is doing well with it. I have noticed he is starting to anticipate the whistle on the retreives. Because of that, I went back to bringing some of the birds back to heel and switching it up. HOpe that wont throw the training off too bad. Its amazing to see the dog responding to the hand casts. Im really enjoying the training progress and accomplishments the dog is making. He's 1.5 years old now. OH...how long should these sessions be?

What do you do about the dog anticipating the whistle? I saw in an earlier video that you space the whistle out and only handle every 3rd or 4th rep. I will get him running to the pile really well, 5 or 6 times. Then blow the whistle 1 time and he will stop intermittently for the next several reps, turn and sit with no whistle.
