Hii Iman and Moazzam, I live in Vadodara(Baroda), the place where this was shot. Garba is a traditional dance form of Gujarat and the songs that are sung are for the goddess. The garba starts at around 9 pm and goes on till 12 am. This is a dedicated Garba ground and not a stadium and there many such garba venues all over Gujarat and even Mumbai. People have to purchase pass before the beginning of Navratri. There are some venues that are free for the public on wearing the traditional dresses. Till last year we only had holiday on Dussehra but this year on, the govt has planned to give 10 days holiday during Navratri by reducing the holidays during Diwali.
    Btw love you guys !!

Thoda lamba hogya ye comment 😅
Navratri, a celebration of the Divine Feminine
The worship of the feminine has been the most ancient form of worship on the planet, widespread not just in India,
India, however, is one culture in which the worship of the feminine has endured
The Indian festival or Hindu Festival of Navratri is dedicated to the feminine nature of the Divine. Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati are seen as three dimensions of the feminine, symbolic of the earth, the sun and the moon, or of tamas (inertia), rajas (activity, passion) and sattva (transcendence, knowledge, purity) respectively.
Theoretically, there are four seasonal Navratri. However, in practice, it is the post-monsoon autumn festival called Sharada Navratri that is the most observed in the honor of the divine feminine Devi (Durga). The festival is celebrated in the bright half of the Hindu calendar month Ashvin, which typically falls in the Gregorian months of September and October.
Next one is Vasantik Navaratri ,vasanta which means spring. It is observed the lunar month of Chaitra (post-winter, March-April).
The festival is synonymous with "Rama Lila" and Dussehra that celebrates the battle and victory of god Rama over the demon king Ravana.
In all cases, the common theme of Navratri and Vijayadashami is the battle and victory of Good over Evil based on a regionally famous epic or such as the Ramayana or the Devi Mahatmya.
The festival is associated to the prominent battle that took place between Mother Durga and demon Mahishasura and celebrates the victory of Good over Evil. These nine days are solely dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine Avatars. Each day is associated to an incarnation of the goddess, you can check out the 9 avatars or incarnations of Goddess Durga.
Celebrations include stage decorations, recital of the epics, enacting of the story, and chanting of the scriptures of Hinduism. The nine days are also a major crop season cultural event, such as competitive design and staging of pandals, a family visit to these pandals and the public celebration of classical and folk dances of Hindu culture. On the final day, called the Vijayadashami or Dussehra, the statues are either immersed in a water body such as river and ocean, or alternatively the statue of Demons symbolizing the evil is burnt with fireworks marking evil's destruction. The festival also starts the preparation for one of the most important and widely celebrated holidays, Diwali, the festival of lights, which is celebrated twenty days after the Vijayadashami or Dussehra.
Navaratri is celebrated in different ways throughout India. Some fast, others feast. Some revere the same Mother Goddess but different aspects of her, while others revere avatars of Vishnu, particularly of Rama. The Chaitra Navaratri culminates in Rama Navami on the ninth day, and the Sharada Navaratri culminates in Durga Puja and Dussehra.
Rama Navami is a spring Hindu festival that celebrates the birthday of God Rama.
Navaratri has historically been a prominent ritual festival for kings and military of a kingdom. At the end of the Navratri, comes Dussehra, where the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghanada are burnt to celebrate the victory of good (Rama) over evil forces on Vijayadashami.

This is in the city of Vadodara in Gujarat. The old gentleman with mike is Shri Atul Purohit - a very loved and respected singer . As many others have commented, this festival is to worship Ambe Ma - a form of Goddess Durga. That is why you see the Aarti in the beginning. There are no days off in schools and corporates. People dance their hearts out in the night and resume their usual chores during the day:)

They visit one pandals or gathering and keep moving from one location to another and dance every night full night garba dance.dandiya is done with sticks. Navratri is celebrated across north india to worship Goddess Durga . Garba is way of celebration and worship , too in Gujarat. Men wear traditional clothes like Kurta and kediya while women dress up in chaniya choli. Leave is declared on 10th day. But 2018 schools and colleges had vacation for 10 days. Some songs , dresses and music has traces of rajasthani culture too as gujarat and rajasthan are neighbor states. Like india and pakistan has similarities too. By the way film Hum dil de chuke sanam has picturized gujarati traditions and locations too. Kai po chhe song narrates the way gujarat celebrates makar sankranti...Famous kite festival. Thanks for choosing this video.

Dandias (2 sticks) dance is called Ras., it includes a dance where each dancer has an end of rope, the other end of the rope is tied high up on a central pole. Everybody dances in a way that the whole rope gets woven during half the time, the second half of the dance time is done in a Reverse way so at the end the whole rope is opened up just as it was at the begining of the dance.Ras and Garbas are from Gujarat originally but now they are all over India and the world !

Yaa, we have with sticks to which we call DAANDIYA , And the form of garba is generally called RAAS (in pairs or groups). I have grown up going to these kind of Grounds for Garba each night 9 days every year! The most amazing part about these songs are that these are all Devotional Songs with tunes and beats so catchy that no one can resist going in. Also , This Vadodra United Ways are one of the most Famous in whole Gujarat due to the singer himself , Atul Purohit and was previously very famous for Falguni Pathak's appearances which i had visited a couple of times in childhood.
