  • “Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others.” - Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Woke up from a long sleep. He yawned, stretched, and at last opened his eyes completely. For two minutes, however, he lay in his bed without moving, as though he were not yet quite certain whether he were awake or still asleep, whether all that was going on around him were real and actual, or the continuation of his confused dreams.

There's never been a perfect cinematic rendition of Dostoevsky's masterpiece for obvious reasons, given the novel's psychological emphasis, yet still, I yearn to see a quality rendition of the Russian classic, with romantic era pieces to serve as its haunting score...

34:53 the fact that i was reading Marmeladov's end of speech when this played, as he talked about being crucified. I'd say that was an immaculate timing.
