**UPDATE** - Toggling the timeline snapping is defaults to the "N" key, not to "S" like I had mentioned in the video. That is from my custom layout.
your title got me to click. Lmao. I love it! Great job!

Wish I saw this before I took notes 😅. I guess taking notes helps retain info.
Epic!
I wish there would be more people like u 👍
Some cool functions are:
1) Power Bins. They are really powerful. Allowing you to put your frequently used media into it, like memes, music, and sound effects. In a new project, you then pull the folders into the project master folder and are now able to search everything. It is much much faster than having to search everything in the windows file explorer. The structure could look like this:
Master
- audio
- footage
- memes
- music
- sound effects
- stock footage
Having the footage in its separate folder makes the project explorer look really clean.
2) Adjustment layers can be amazing to save time. Not just for color grading but I also put effects on them. For example, if I have static footage where I want to add a little movement I put camera shake on the adjustment layer do my settings once, and then put the adjustment layer into the power bin so I can always reuse it.
3) If you have effects you frequently use with similar settings use the ability to save to make presets.
I need to make a cheat sheet and post it above my monitor. These tips are extremely helpful.
That’s a really smart idea!!
That’s genius wow
what I was thinking
I used a stickie on my Mac: you can copy this:

@@dunnadidit sure?
Organization is key!! 😂 I set all my clip colors to the number keys and F keys so when I’m cutting I just press one button and it automatically colors that for me. I have a system with those and when I review clips I know which color is used for what. Especially if you have gaming clips.
You simplified so many things I've been looking for in other videos in less than like 30 seconds each. Idk why other people are so long-winded. Thanks homie!
My favorite way of cutting is switching the split and putting the keybind to s.
It's real fast and simple for me, hopefully this tip helps others out.
One of the things me and my coworker hot keyed is "Auto Align Clips By Waveform" and "Unlink/Relink Clips" Toggle. Super helpful if you're making a lot of short videos with external mic audio.
Also, keep premade intros and outros in a master bin if you're working across different projects!
If you want to reset the transform options after you moved something around (zoom, moved up, etc) when a clip is selected, double click the option you want to change. Example being if you want to reset the zoom, just double click the word zoom and it goes back to its original position.
As a longtime user of Final Cut Pro X just beginning the transition to Davinci Resolve, this video is INCREDIBLY helpful. Resolve seems so incredibly intuitive, but from a completely different angle than Final Cut.. hence the re-learning process. Thank you!
Hugely helpful. Thanks so much Dunna!
New to the program, I've learned so much in this short video. Well made, like super well made. No unessary fluff, just what you think would be helpful, and examples on how it's used. Masterful.
Practically fantastic! You covered all the mostly used bottle-neck bypassing editing tricks of Davinci Resolve. I'm super stoked to put them into practice. Thank ya D!
You literally saved me. Every other video I watched was just confusing and they were rambling, but you actually showed how to PROPEPLY use it! Tysm!!!!
I loved this! Thank you so much, I'm sure I'll be coming back to this video a lot to revisit those shortcuts!
omg, this video is gold s2 thank you so much
Awesome. That's what I was looking for ;)
Once again beautiful video!!! Helps so much with saving time
just wanna say I appreciate you dunna. always so helpful and knowledgeable. fav youtuber to learn from by far.
This was useful, Thank You!
I don't know how is it possible to have only a bit over 7.000 views in this video. It's so helpful and full of information. I'm coming back to it constantly.
Thank you for the time you put to make this video!!!
Thanks for saying that! Feel free to help share it on Reddit, Facebook, or wherever you think people might like it!
That was really helpful. Thanks!
this video is awesome!! exactly what new editors need to know, thanks so much🙏
You just helped increase my video editing by at least 3x. Thanks for making this video!
THIS IS GOLD! ❤
cheers mate, your video's spot on.
Thanks alot. You save me bunch of time.
That ripple trip to start/end is HUGE. Thank you!
Thank you for doing this video! Awesome tips, definitely going to start using some of these.
THIS IS THE VIDEO I NEEDED!!!! THANK YOU! You got a new like, subscriber, and I clicked for notifications!
Thank you dude, this was very helpful!
For Ripple Delete
Resize > Start to Playhead = Q
Resize > End to Playhead = W
Are these default settings or your own customizations?
Dunna absolutely does it
New Resolve user here from Shotcut. I spent several hours looking for vid tutorial on how I can move the playhead without dragging it each time. Or moving it to start/ end of clips. Finally, this video! Thank you so much! Life and time saver. Money saver? Soon. Well, if I could save time editing, save electricity, then save money. So yes, still a money saver! lol.

Glad to hear it!

Hi! Most concise and useful! Cheers
That was a near perfect video. I have a lot of friends that I’m convincing to switch over to resolve… I am going to send them your video because your video is the perfect start.
Loved this. thank you!
Thaaank you! You brought light Dunna :))
This video needs more likes. Super quick and informative especially for a beginner.
Just stumbled onto this video and damn, thank you so much! Been trying my best to learn this program and it's progressing slowly but nicely and this video really helps out 💪
thank you so much for this video!
Great vid. Thanks for the tips. Just swapped over from Premiere Pro and this helped heaps.
Dunna did it again for me! Game changer!!
I only work in resolve and most of these I knew, but there were a few new tricks I learned from watching this. Thank you for this awesome tutorial!
Amazing video and super helpful. Just what I was looking for. Thanks!
Very Helpful video 😇
Great video Dunna, nice to see someone moving from Premiere Pro and showing that you don't have to use software that costs a fortune and you can use something that is totally free that does just what most people need! Love the orange loading bar on the Skillshare text, very subtle dude 🤘
Funny thing is that I bought the studio version within like a week of starting to use davinci 😂 so I ended up spending a bunch of money on it anyway. But just once.
And thanks for the kind words! That was one of my first experiments in fusion!
@@dunnadidityeah well you probably will make use of the paid for version 😜😜 There are lots of people that want to have a go at editing and the majority of CZcams videos are Premiere Pro, I've found Davinci Resolve and picked up the basics really easily and made a couple of videos recently, but knowing more shortcuts will defo help 👍
Yeah totally!
This is fantastic!! Thank you so much. I’ve just moved from Final Cut and this is so so helpful. 🙏
Glad to hear it Emma!
This video made my work flow go from 0 to 100!
Very good video and explanation!
Thanks for the tips. Former fcp-7 then premiere, now resolve, glad i can do all the same things here!
I appreciate the tips!
10/10 Love this thank you
Just what i need to start playing and learning DaVinci Resolve. Thank You :)
My pleasure! Glad to hear it is helpful!
I was aware of the other stuff but the copy/past attributes and the changing clip speed/timing was new to me!
Thanks!
Good to hear there were a couple new ones for you!
Cheers mate!
Thank you sir!
This video in speed 1.5 is the best! Really Thanks!
Knew a lot but learned a few things, for instance the option Y to select all tracks instead of activating it and disabling it again. Option select to delink clips on the fly. Allways something to learn on your NLE ! 😁 Cheers Dunna 🙏
Great video, super helpful!
Thanks!!
Very helpful, thx man. Surprised at how few tutorials there are on editing in Resolve for beginners.
Damn! Most of this was new for me! Especially that selecting multiple clips! Thanks a ton! 🤩
This helped alot!
Great to hear!
Thanks, just started using Davinci, this is going to save a lot of time!
Happy to help!
Thank you so much dunna... this is gonna save so much time
Glad to hear that!
very useful video thx man
Cheers!
Thanks for the tips
This was extremely helpful. Coming from Windows Movie Maker, which really does all I need it to in my YT movies, I need to "upgrade" because MM bombed out when I loaded 4K clips from my new GoPro10. I installed Davinci and was completely overwhelmed. A couple beginner YT videos helped, but this was the most helpful because like you mentioned, I just want to load all my clips all at once and get to editing. Thumbs up and thanks again.
Thanks for this...
Thanks for the tips! I use the free version of Davinci Resolve to edit my vids; It's amazing what's all possible even in the free version!
Thank you! Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
timeline - „selection follows playhead“ is very useful
WHAT? This video suddenly ended when thought it was just getting started! I think I might give Resolve a try... Really good video. Thank you!
thank you so much!
You’re welcome Dobby!
Very good tips bro
Thanks for writing down the keyboard shortcut commands names. As the English isn't my first language, so it helps me a lot! Cheers!👍
So helpful
Extreme crash course on steroids. Kudos and thanks, all the ones that are hard to remember shortcuts and badly needed on daily basis 👍🏻
the ripple delete tip is HUGE, im definitely trying that right now
Thanks for the clear info, Resolve is pretty dandy for sure!
This is fantastic!! 🙏🙏
Thanks so much!!
I just made the switch from Premiere and I needed this. Big preesh
YESS! Thank you, these tips are perfect!
Also, there's an "Edmonton" location showing on this video, and I lived there for a couple years and really love that city! Anywho, carry on. 😁👊
this is perfect. been on my watch later for a bit. finally got around to it!!! love it!!! thank you, sir!
That’s great! I’m glad it was worth taking up space on your watch later list haha
@@dunnadidit oh it sure was!!! i'm saving it in a playlist now.
Hey Dunna! You did it!
Thanx!
You are excellent! I'm from Argentina!
Nice...yup I too need to make a cheat sheet and place it near my monitor...thx you excellent video
Rewatching to level up my skills thanks for this video
07:40 this, this is what i was looking for sooo long and no other tips and tricks videos tell anything about, thank you soooo much! Trying to jump to davinci resolve but without the Q and W from premiere pro i wouldnt even try because cut and delete is so slow for me
Thanks! Gonna start using these tips on my edit, this will help me speed up my editing.
Nice!
I learned so much, thank you!! This video is a game changer for me😅
Nice! Glad to hear it dude!
So many great tips here! I really appreciate this, Dunna.
Glad to hear it was helpful!
Btw, do you know how to make a key board short cut to add a speed point. I can't seem to figure it out.
I have run into a few things that it wouldn’t let me make a shortcut for. But basically, you can search in that keyboard shortcuts dialogue for “speed point” and see if it shows up, then click the little empty box beside it and actually do the shortcut you want to use.
This is single handley the best video ive seen on DR, thank you so much. Also question, I have davinci resolve studio 17, should i upgrade and get the newest free one?
I learned this over the weekend... Good Stuff
Nice!!
@@dunnadidit Thanks for teaching me! :)
Thanks! Very very helpful! The main thing - Y - game changer for me (came from FCP) :D
Perfect 💝 keep uploading this type of video it so helpful for us Thanks for uploading 💯🤓
It's my pleasure! Thanks for watching!
