2.5 mile (4 km) walk from Monte to Funchal. The easiest way to find is to walk from Funchal cable car top station towards the cable car station to Botanical Garden. Just before that station track will split in two. You need to take one on the right (downhill). Once you pass a stone bridge path will split again. Look for the sign towards Bom Successo (once again - going downhill). Do not go during the rain, especially thunderstorm.
