Thank you for reacting to Katatonia...this is from a cracking album. Thank you Me Me for suggesting it.
You mentioned Opeth...the lead singer of Katatonia... Jonas Renske is a big friend of Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth...one of my favourite bands... along with Green Carnation. Look forward to your next reaction 👍✌️🤘

Love Katatonia! Forsaker is the best song, but the entire new album they put out last year is a MASTERPIECE. You can start it and listen to the whole thing straight through, and it just wraps you up in a nice little blanket of sound.

Soen - Savia if you haven't done that one already. It is from their first album so a nice place to start that journey. Soen was founded by Martin Lopez, ex-Opeth and Joel Ekelöf. Kind of goes in the same kind of progressive emotional metal, in lack of better description. With the mentioning of Candlemass, there sure is a lot of Stockholm-metal going on here! 😀🤘

You and/or your brother might like this band: Indukti (Polish for Inductee). They have no dedicated lead singer; instead, they "induct" singers from other bands to sing on their music project. Lots of instrumentals in this band too. Here are sample for you:
Indukti - Tusan Homichi (think of the metaphoric political novel: Animal Farm, when listening to these lyrics):

Very cool band, can't say I've delved massively into their stuff but "In the White" is one of their bigger classics as far as I'm aware. "My Twin" & "Soil's Song" are also both really interesting/cool tracks. The vocals are always so sombre yet pleasing to the ear still.

Well Jonas Renkse (katatonia) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) are friends, have played in the same band and I think they even went to school together. No wonder they are a bit reminiscent of each other's music :) 🤘 nice reaction
