First heard this song in a beach club in Nha Trang. I asked the DJ for the name and the next evening he brought me a CD with the song on it. I immediately put it on my MP3 player and listened to it during a motorbike trip through Central Vietnam the next 5 days. This was 15 years ago and til today when I listen to it, it revives that wholesome feeling from back then... What a wonderful song!

I found this song when I was around twelve years old while listening to Pandora. I used to tear up a bit because I knew the lyrics were so true. They still are true to me now. But the surprising thing is, is that this song doesn't make me cry anymore. It used to make me feel so far away and distant, that I thought I would never come back. I used to think no one really cared about me, but now as I have gotten older I realized everyone does care. If anyone feels distant and far away from everyone you love, and you think nobody cares about you anymore, you're wrong. People do care. All you have to do is pull yourself out of whatever is eating away at you and notice the people around you. If you have been in it for too long, talk to someone. You will eventually get out of that hole you're stuck in. Now, I think this song is beautiful. It makes you notice the peace in the air around you.

I remember playing this track a few times over those two 'dark' years and it would just reduce me to tears with each listen due to the lyrics. I eventually battled through to reach a better, happier place in my life. Things have never been better. I've since heard this track a number of times without shedding a single tear. The year was 2009. After hearing the track "Oscar" by Tosca on an online "Chill" stream, I purchased the double CD Chris Coco- Chillin' at the Playboy Mansion. I had an upcoming flight to Europe, so I downloaded the CD to my iPod for the trip. A month later, I headed to the airport to board my flight. After stowing my carry-on luggage in the overhead compartment of the aircraft. I sat in the seat, clicked together my seatbelt and unwound my headphones from my iPod. There would be over 8 hours in flight time in which I could indulge without interruptions from my boss, emails, phone, or other commitments and distractions. This moment was now "me time" in which I could just shut my eyes and get immersed in music for the 8 hour flight over the Atlantic Ocean.
Since sitting in coach on a long flight was hardly the time to party, I chose the second CD which was aptly named "After Hours". How fitting, it _was_ almost 11pm.
With the headphones in ear, cabin noise diffused, the landing gear tucking underneath this flying bird of machinery, this wonderful track "Hayling" by FC Kahuna poured into my ears.
Within the first 10 seconds, I had a feeling I'd be in for a real treat, and my instincts were absolutely correct. My soul craved and deserved to receive this kind of ear candy for so long. This song and the others that would follow were just what the doctor ordered.
The lyrics "Don't think about all those things you fear, just be glad to be here" were perfect. At the time, those words really resonated with me. I had been going through some struggles of life direction and trajectory. Am I happy? Am I making good choices in my life? What is my life's purpose? This song reminded me that life is fleeting. There is no crystal ball, I could devise a perfect plan for anything and things could still fall apart outside of my control. My new mantra should be to "live in the present" as many philosophers preach. The lyrics from that calm woman's voice spoke to me. In fact, it's been a whole 10 years since that flight and I am reminded we must always fully appreciate those six profound words .....
*Just be glad to be here*

I remember hearing this in 2000 & it was played on the then good kiss 100 FM radio station on a Friday night by Tom the Jedi Middleton filling in for Adam Freeland & the breakbeat show which I loved also. Brings back my dark days of depression !! Loved the ambient sounds of 2000 also searching for music by Bent, Hefner, moby, John tshader sorry if I've mispelled his second name, Tom Middleton & many others ! I loved this era of music including Breakbeat when Adam Freeland used to be on the Friday night slot on Kiss 💯 FM. Omg the nostalgia has me nearly in tears.
Now in this day & age there is so much music it's sometimes hard to find the music you are looking for. Things were more simple back in the day, I would have a cassette recorder & just press play/record & have all these Jem's on cassette, now the digital age just makes everything much more complicated.

Oh mate, I'm glad you never did buddy, for a lot of people it's a tricky one when it rears its horrible head. For me, I was lucky man, another long story but the only thing I'd respectfully say to anyone who finds themselves in such a desperate place, whatever sport or exercise you've always liked, go and kick the arse out of it. The more you get back into whatever it is you like, the better it feels. And of course, the better you feel the more you'll want to do. Whatever endorphins that are released in a person, its honestly life changing. There is no person worse than me for finding unlimited reasons to not go and cycle, something I've always loved. And after ten minutes back on my bike I was completely stumped as to why I'd stopped in the first place. Keep in touch dude, this tune is proper lovely.
