#firsttimewatching #reaction #grantorino - Zábava
Not sure if you caught it, but Walt talking to Toad through the screen door mirrors the confessional that he sat in with the Priest. While he only gave the Priest a superficial confession, he gave Toad, his friend, his REAL confession, and what REALLY had been weighing on him his whole life.
Toad?
@@meganega123Walt'a nickname for Tao.
@@armynurseboy just thought it was weird you called him that, too 😅
Damn! I consider myself both intelligent and spiritual-. I've watched this movie several times but never caught that! Great job! Now I have to re-think my self-perception! :)
Who csres @@meganega123
He left Tao 3 things that never let him down: his car and his dog and manhood.
Exactly...
I think it's usually overlooked but in Walt's will he recognizes Thao by his full name for the first time, showing that he's earned Walt's respect also
All of the Hmong actors were actually Hmong. Only one of them had acted before this movie. They went out of their way to find Hmong for the various roles.
Am i correct in assuming it was the sister?
Walt has bottled up his trauma and feelings inside. He is guilty about horrors committed in war. His relationship with his wife was his only consolation, and that didn't extend to his children. He sees an opportunity to make amends when he develops a relationship with his Hmong neighbors. They would seem to be the least likely for him to grow so close to. But he admires their love of family and tradition, values that he wanted for himself and his family, but he was too crippled inside to live them. So he sacrifices all for his new family. The Gran Torino is a symbol of all this love he had to give but couldn't. And in the end he gives it all for these people who welcomed and relied on him.
Clint is a good and long trained story teller. When you hear great actors talk about working with him as a director/producer, you recognize leadership.
Emma, they weren't eating Korean food, they were eating Hmong food. The Hmong people in the U.S. are mainly from the Vietnam and Laos area.
Good food as well
Clint Eastwood is a lifelong lover of jazz music, especially jazz piano. Mr. Eastwood himself is an accomplished jazz pianist.
I never knew that thanks for sharing ❤
Emma, this is one of your better reactions. Your decision to keep rolling the film through the ending music was brilliant. Thank you for reacting to Gran Torino. 💛
Thank you so much!!
Seriously
That decision was special and good.
He went out the way he wanted saved tau's family, cleaned up the neighborhood, all in his own terms.
When Walt locked Thao up, the steel screen on the door was reminiscent of the church confessional. Walt gave Father Janovich his confession about relatively minor things, but confessed to Thao about his real regrets in life.
They say the greatest gift anyone can give to his brother or sister is to lay his life on line ! And it’s a one way ticket to heaven . Walt sacrificed himself so Tao and Sue would have a future without that gang bothering them because he grew to love them
Walt is the antihero, he’s hard on the outside but he has a really kind heart.
It's an interesting movie showing the mixing of the changing over of a neighborhood, from native Americans to new immigrants and finding out they actually have a lot in common. One of the powerful lines, to me, is when Walt realizes he has more in common with these Hmong immigrants than he does with his own "spoiled rotten" kids.
Their culture still respects elderly, and holds family tight.
I knew with absolute certainty you would like the movie. I also knew you would love the song at the end. It is Clint Eastwood best work. The cookout scene is my favorite.
Him and Sean Connery should’ve done a movie together
@@nsasupporter7557who's the man now dog?
Clint Eastwood was the only household name actor in the movie
Of all the Hmong in the movie, only the guy who played cousin Spider was a professional actor.
This is one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies. Absolutel Power is another great one. And then we have the Dirty Harry movies which are great.
They're all the best movies of all time
There's a lot to this film, a man is facing his own mortality, his neighborhood becoming a violent place, his own prejudices, finds a cause and becomes a force for positive change. Walt is a hero.
Great that you let the music play at the end!
Yeah it's soo beautiful
One of my all time favorite movies. It had the funny dialog, but it also had a lot of tension, drama, and heart. Well made, and the song at the end is iconic. If you want something more light hearted, I would check out Grumpy Old Men and the sequel Grumpier Old Men. The first one is one of my favs to watch around this time of year. Cheers Emma!
And, if you want to see a funny couple of films starring Clint Eastwood, check out "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Any Which Way You Can". Great fun!
It was his time to go. Between his health, his loss, and his last chance to go out a hero. I get it.
100% agreed, its fitting for someone who has seen war and survived it. He went out on his own terms, saving those he loved. And most importantly he carried a lot of guilt from the war but the last thing he did in his life if sacrificing himself for the very same people he fought against. It's really fitting. A very simple but beautifully written story.
Yeah it all played out in his favor
Watching this movie is bittersweet for me as Walt reminds me of my dad. The biggest difference is that weI had a great relationship as we both got older and understood each other.. Anyway, great reaction!!!
one of the best movies of the last decade
I've seen a bunch of reactions to Gran Torino, but so far you are the only one who took time to immerse yourself in the final song, obviously enjoying it through and through which is sweet) Big LIKE!
My grandfather was a ww2 vet and the greatest honer was taking care of him until the end. The hardest part was letting him go.
Simply my favorite Clint Eastwood movie of all
I want my next tattoo to be "GET OFF MY LAWN", in honor of that cranky old bastard.
I can tell you have a good heart. God bless you
Favorite line, "Get off my lawn".
Oh yes, baby!!! 😎
Anything Clint Eastwood delivers. Outlaw Josie Wales is probably my favorite.
You're so heartfelt, Emma. This was a great movie for you to watch.
Funny that you know how it is going to end.. good talent 👏 👌 that was Scott Eastwood around 20 minutes in when he pulled up in his truck and used his pointing finger and then draws his pistol out baby 🎉🎉
Father and son singing the last song
Oh, I see !!! Great!!)
Clint is a long time jazz musician, he directed and starred in the movie, Play Misty for me as a jazz dj, and he did the film Bird, about jazz musician Charlie Parker.
"He could have done something else." True, but Walt had cancer and he knew his time was limited. He knew he didn't want to be a burden on anyone or be an invalid in a bed for the rest of his life. He felt that he needed to give Thao a chance at life.
Filmed in my neck of the woods and always hits me in the feels. came out right when my dad moved out of this area because of troubles with the gangs.
Anyone else wanna hear Emma cover "Gran Torino"?
Yes.
)))))
Her white boyfriend was played by Clint’s son.
This movie is something else and you did a great job reacting to it.
Well done Emma! Walt loved them in his wounded way. His confession was an open garage door to the yard s ale of his remaining soul. Altruistic and simply good movie.
20:30 VIETNAMESE! ;) Btw, the actor playing So's date when Walt saved them (in the black neighborhood), is actually Clint Eastwood's son.
Like cats, love dogs. 🐶
It may noble to try and save a girl’s life in that situation, but three against one can cost his life…
I love that Gran Torino song in the end there…
I love the song at the end of this movie too. It’s very good singing
I have a cat and I have a dog. So seems I am a cat+dog lover :P The dog is more cuddly, the cat just sees us as servants to open cat food :D
Nice reaction. Really like Sue. Clint Eastwood is a true legend 😊👍🏻🇩🇰
Agreed!!
17:42
i love all animals.
i have 2 cats and 2 german shepherd dogs.
i also already has 4 cute bunnys...
i will have pets all the time and make everything possible to give them a beautiful life.
Emma's been watching some classics lately 😊
Thank you, Emma. I have this movie on DVD, and have watched it many times. It is so very nice to see it through your eyes. You have such great reactions. We all love you, Emma!
I've seen this movie many times. It's so good! I like his change of heart and his relationship with the Korean neighbors he developed.
15:00 That's Clint Eastwood's son. Scott Eastwood.
Walt Was An Old Soldier That had One More Battle
15:08 Woah Emma 😅
Jamie Cullen is a british jazz singer and wrote the final song with Clint and his son who was in this movie as the guy trying to be cool
I hope you want to see more of this outstanding actor (Clint Eastwood). Three of his biggest movies "Dirty Harry 1971, A Fistful Of Dollars 1967 and The Outlaw Josey Wales 1976. PS: Clint Eastwood was the biggest action star in the 1960's & 1970's!!
If I got greeted like that, first thing I’d do is call mental health services.
17:42 cat and dog lover...but if I had to choose, it would be dogs.
Man's best friend.
This movie and million dollar Baby are my favourites Clint Eastwood movies
I enjoyed watching this movie with you. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
that was Clint singing at the end. did you know he did a duet with Merle Haggard called "Bar Room Buddies" that went to number one on the country charts in the early 80's?
No, didn’t know) I will check it out) thanks 🙏
This is a masterpiece movie. I love that you took the time to appreciate the end credit song.
I am a dog lover, but keep it on the down-low. My cat would never forgive me, lol.
Emma, Detroit, is lot rougher in most neighborhoods that the one portrayed in this movie. You are fortunate to live in the great country of Canada!
I really love how you feel things so deeply. Great reaction. 🥰❤️
😊 thank you
Great reaction Emma! Walt's final sacrifice was for his past his declining health and the neighbor kids Future! IMO. He was a grumpy old man till the neighbor kids brought life back into his world. What a great story and Clint Eastwood did a fantastic job of telling it. Oh and I'm a dog lover! 😁🦮Thanks for sharing Emma ❤️💛
The young white guy on the sidewalk is Scott Eastwood, Clints son. Also in Fury, and now looks just like dad from his spaghetti westerns days!
yeah he does, it's pretty cool. You reckon he'll age similarly do his dad?
Now that I'm almost 70, I'm beginning to behave the same way.
@14.50 That's the real son of Clint Eastwood.... Scott Eastwood
100%
Million Dollar Baby is another great Clint Eastwood movie
Great reaction. I didn’t realize the white young man who harassed by those ‘assholes’ is Clint Eastwood’s son. You did a great reaction like usual.
The dog in the movie was Clint Eastwood’s own dog.
Weird ? A priest that drinks ? 😂 It would be weird if he didn’t .
Doubly so if he's Irish.
True, stress gets to anybody
I love the ending cause Eastwood you would expect the ending to be he goes out and kills them. Not only was it a change from Walt’s character but it wasn’t the normal Eastwood character
Great reaction Emma.
Another Director who also starred in his movies is Warren Beatty. He also wrote and produced the movie Heaven Can Wait - it’s a light hearted romantic comedy worth a review.
I'm sending everyone some love 🥰 xxx
Every time he called the chinese kid Toad. 😂
great reaction emma
Emma. You listened to the whole ending song. not too many reactions do this. this was beautiful . I watched all the way through. =;-D
If I ever went to confession the priest would quit after the first 3 hours and only a 1/18 of the list I would have
You're such a great genuine nice Person! I like you and your content very much and appreciate your work!
I love dogs and all of Clint Eastwood movies 🎦
👌🏼
17:43 peoples love of cats is often the result of parasite juice
i'd have to say one of my favorite Clint Eastwood films along with EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE a funny movie of his
Thank you for listening through the ending song... it looks like it very much touched you as it did me. "Sit in this atmosphere for a while".. love it. 😊
a wonderful genuine reaction to a great film, thanks for that
Glad you enjoyed it
Clint's best movie, which is saying alot.
Emma is so adorable. 😊
Clint rules 😎
You have such a kind, big heart , & it shows so much by your reactions. New subscriber.
You should react to legends of the fall. Top tier classic.
Coogan's Bluff(1968) is a good Clint Eastwood movie. It's about a lowlife who escapes from police custody.
Respect
Love animals more then people
love your reactions, I love dogs and cats, by the way I love your Tom and Jerry shirt.❤
I had that same car but it was light blue. I loved that car.
Do I love cats or dogs ? Yes .
One of Clint's best movie and Dog lovers
Very underrated movie
In the scene with the gangsters riding next to each other with guns out that's not actually allowed here. It's called brandishing and is punishable in all 50 states as for guns themselves america owns 40% of the world's firearms, we have it in our constitution both federally and in most States as a right. as for this neighborhood it's not fictional it's Detroit and it's about as real as it gets. America gets lost sometimes, sometimes we are wrong, sometimes we do the wrong thing, but in the end be glad Canada is north of us sharing our border because if it wasn't, there might not be a Canada nor a Mexico. All that said love your reactions
I'd rather die for a good reason than lay down.
