    Excellent video and extremely accurate about the ford guys lol! Side note if memory serves correct is the starting point for the fuel air screw 2-1/2 turns out? Im fairly certain this bike I just bought will need a full rebuild.

    My throttle has some strange hang time before it comes back to idle. Just replaced the cable with a new one, but still funky. Was hesitant to tear into the carb, but that looked easy enough. Any idea as to why it would hold rev occasionally, but slowly come back to idle? Thanks for the video man.

    • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  Před rokem +1

      I would suspect a worn slide or lean engine condition. Lean condition could be caused by poor fuel flow, dirty jets, or incorrect jetting. Unless the cable actually hangs up... Incorrect cable routing can cause a throttle to hang as well. Pull the side cover for the throttle off and make sure that's all moving smooth. Then look into the other things mentioned. If it's running aftermarket pipe and / or intake system that will create a need to be rejetted to deliver more fuel.

      @@The.Odyssey what’s strange is I can “clean it out” by revving the bike up quickly to high rpm’s, then it will settle down to idle as normal.
      Had this issue months ago, then it went away completely for several rides, but now it’s back.
      I’ll pulled the side off when I replaced the cable, and watched it in action while running and holding the high idle, and it always went back to “0” as soon as I let off, but the rev continued.
      I’ll pull the bottom and remove the needles like you did. Appreciate the help, man.

    This is kind of a random carb question, but is it possible to access the needle jet from the top of the carb while it's still attached to the bike if you loosen the connecting brackets and turn it sideways? Planning a trip with some major altitude changes and might need to drop the needle down mid-ride, hoping it's possible to do so without pulling the whole carb on the trail.

    • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I think you could but you may want to give it a try before your trip to be sure.

      @@The.Odyssey Gotcha, thanks. And yeah will attempt it ahead of time, just wanted to ask to make sure it was even reasonably possible before I get frustrated messing with it lol.

      I know im a little late, but yes. except its on the bottom of the carb there is a nut you can take off and you can access the jets

    • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @phillipandruckov2525 you are referring to the main jet or needle valve assembly not the needle he was asking about. From the top of the carb you can change the needle position with a clip. The needle does interact with the main jet as to how early it starts operating.

    Have you tried cleaning the carb without taking it off the bike?

    • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  Před 10 měsíci

      No, I don't see how you could effectively do that

  • @braydenschick740

    I need some advice on my 2006 yfz jetting, I've got an issue where I will start it and it will only run for a little and the idle slowly gets slower and then it dies. Any idea what it needs? Have cleaned the carb many times

    • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  Před rokem

      If you try to ride it does it perform or will it not? If not I would say look into one of 2 things, blockage somewhere between the fuel tank and needle valve in the carb restricting flow, or float adjustment.

    • @braydenschick740
      @braydenschick740 Před rokem

      Yeah it rips, only issue i have is that it doesn't like to idle nicely. I have a dasa full exsaust, no airbox and a k&n filter, and the cam chain mod. For jets I run 180 main, 48 pilot, and 90 starter. And all of this I run at 400ft above sea level.
