Pink Floyd - " Remember a Day " 1968 RARE
Vložit
- čas přidán 14. 10. 2015
- Performed live only twice; as an encore in May 1968, and forty years later, in September 2008, by David Gilmour in memory of Richard Wright
On their second album, A Saucerful of Secrets
Of coarse it is Lip Sync, those were the days
Lyrics
Remember a day before today
A day when you were young.
Free to play alone with time
Evening never came.
Sing a song that can't be sung
Without the morning's kiss
Queen - you shall be it if you wish
Look for your king Why can't we play today
Why can't we stay that way Climb your favorite apple tree
Try to catch the sun
Hide from your little brother's gun
Dream yourself away
Why can't we reach the sun
Why can't we blow the years away
Blow away
Blow away
Remember
Remember - Hudba
It's a shame that the cameras always tended to ignore Richard Wright (from 1968 up to the 2005 live reunion), even when he was the lead singer, as this video shows. He's my favorite Pink Floyd memberm but he was mostly underrated,
richard hold on PF after Syd went , 1968/1974 were my fave period without the hammering bass Rick has no ego prob ,slightly introvert!
mine too
Yeah. That just isn't wright.
His soft voice warms my soul.
This new guitarist David. He is good. He has some potential.
Did he save the Floyd?
Bob Doubter Hi. Syd was doing too much LSD with schizophrenia being a possible horrendous combination! I’d have loved to see where they went!
But with Gilmour? It was meant to be! Waters was the man when it came to lyrics. Gilmour the better musical artist!
Meddle is what made everything thereafter possible !
And Live At Pompeii October 71 David Gilmour
He's alright. Don't think these Pink Floyd guys will get any better. That Syd guy does have a lot a potential so it would be a shame if that went to waste.
@@bobdoubter2977 yes he did
This is one of my all time favorite Floyd songs. Really takes me back to my youth when I hear it.
Me too, I started with a deep dive into the Syd Stuff. I was hooked and I saved some money to buy a Saucerful on CD and this song stuck with me so much. For me, this song is the album. I was in 8th grade, most of my loved ones were still alive. I would have nothing better do to, I had my Walkman, and I would have this album. I would ride my bike around and listen to it endlessly.
Yes ! It was the summer of 1971 for me ! Good good good Times !
@@isiso.speenie5994 First song in the spring of 1971, "Astronomy Domine". When I heard it, I said "Whoa! Who are these guys!"
Rick Wright's keyboards were a most essential element of the Pink Floyd sound
impossible without him!
Wright was a very underrated musician!
@@tommyrawlings3046 I think he was magneficent and rated as well
i*
Agreed! I loved his work in the Atom Heart Mother album.
Richard Wright The Invisible Man
lol
+paul yoda How funny. But true.
Rick Wright lead vocals?!
***** I think that is what frustrated Roger when he stopped Contributing after Animals.
lol He is a Genius They are usually hard to get along with. After the Wall Roger still made 3 Great Albums Gilmour,Wright Mason not so much
Richard Wright had an unmistakable voice in the band, I miss him very much.
I LOVE RICHARD'S VOICE and wish they'd had him sing more lead.
Rick had an amazing voice. If you listen to the middle part of Apples and Oranges the high pitched background vocals is him.
He sang the 6th song of The division bell : wearing the inside out
same. Rick was one of the most talented in that group and never got enough credit. I was touched watching footage of him playing Us and Them
Paint Box is another great song by him.
In the early days when Syd was in the band, Rick sang more than Roger did. After Dave joined, the majority of vocals seemed to be split between Dave and Roger.
“Remember A Day” is such as amazing song, and along with “Paint Box” are two of the best early Floyd tunes!
Julia 's dream
I really adore this song, its beautiful
These guys helped me get through some rough times in the mid-1970s. They were my escape from reality, if only for a short while.
Great !! Rick Wright absolutely underrated song !!
I wish the camera would look at Rick more. It's him singing after all. It seems like nobody ever shows Rick. He's my favourite member, and I think he deserves more love.
I know right? You would have thought PF was a trio from this clip. A trio of ventriloquists who sing without moving their lips and make piano sounds with a guitar.
Best singer in the band too in my opinion
@@notvalidcharacters hahahahaha...
Well, I have a different "favorite member" :)
It’s Syd singing isn’t it?
Without doubt, some of the deepest, most memorable lyrics ever written. I'm 65 now, but I do recall many Saturday nights, after driving with friends, out about 10 miles into the bush around Sundridge Ontario, cases of grog and other assorted enablers, cranking Floyd to the max. I still miss those days, we were so young and so free. It still hurts the heart to think of that freedom we so cherished. Now- we are basically locked in our homes- Covid and all. God bless anyone who can still "Remember the day" "a day when you were young"- they will never return.
The genius of Pink Floyd. Always ethereal. Always beautiful.
I’ve always loved how animated roger gets when he plays his bass
Did the cameraman not realize that Rick is the singer on this song? One would almost think Floyd was a three piece band from watching this! Sadly, Rick seemed to be overlooked so often, but Floyd would never have been what they were without him. Great to see them all goofing around while being forced to lip sync with unplugged instruments!
Spot on, Brett! IMHO, Pink Floyd without Rick is like the Beatles without Paul or John.
It seems few people other than musicians realize how vital and important Rick was to Pink Floyd. But we well know.
Brett Owen although I do agree with you that they barely give Rick any screen time - he did prefer not to be on camera for whatever reasons
Sorry sir no one forced them to do anything. Imo
@@beatlesrgear More like The Beatles without George. Roger and David would be Floyd's "John" and "Paul."
Yes; asinine Waters believed that he was the light when he has the dark side all along.
Kinda rare to see them smiling that much. They must have had a good time joking with that lip sync thing.
3. 1415926535 those were the days
And some VERY clean Sandoz acid
3. 1415926535 I think they were laughing at nick‘s hat
They were laughing because they were miming - in those days guitars had leads, but not on this film!
The smiles came easily then, before the big money and business and fame wiped them away.
Hold everything! I just saw Roger Waters _smile._ Somebody alert the press!
You can actually hear him laughing during some pink floyd songs
I would, but I've just had a heart attack because of the shock of seeing his gigantic mouth wide open.........help .....me.......someone.....
LOL!
I've never saw Roger ever smiling.
It ok
He wrung the neck of his bass to compensate
One of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. It was a delight to hear Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets play this song when I saw them in concert. RIP Richard Wright.
Just heard Nick and SoS play this live recently. It was amazing!
Roger's hilarious and David is GORGEOUS!
David is Syd
why is it that even when Rick was SINGING, the camera couldn't focus on him??? Aaaaargh! that pisses me off so MUCH! That man never got the credit he deserved in that band. all I hear is David this or Roger that, blah, blah, blah. it was ALL of them. A-L-L.
It´s because is not him is Allan Parson!
@@giovannirodriguez5848 no, it is, in fact, Rick. He wrote the song and sang lead vocals with Syd as backup
@@zuzufitz thanks u are right my friend!
Mostly Syd
But true
Roger and David having a laugh. Richard again ignored by the camera.
Man it's not about Richard, cameramen ignore keyboard players in general.
David? That's Syd
@Angie Gomez PF was founded in 1965 by Barrett, Wright, Mason and Waters.
This song was recorded 9 May and October 1967.
It was released 19 August 1968 (Us)
Songwriter...Rick Wright
David Gilmour joined PF in 1968 but had nothing to do with this rare video
@@danielethier2015 it's very obviously David Gilmour playing lead guitar in the video, Syd looks nothing like David. Besides Syd never performed Remember A Day, the only songs Syd played in Saucerful of Secrets were Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun and Jugband Blues.
@@floridaman202 looking at the video again..time frame when Syd was active, you are correct in saying this.
Guess it's time for Dan to purchase new glasses!
Они ещё не предполагали что будут Мега популярными...👌👌👌✌✌✌❤❤❤👍👍👍👏👏✊✊✊🤘🤘🤘
One of my favourite Pink Floyd songs, in fact a few other Rick Wright songs are in my top 10 Pink Floyd songs. He had such a great voice and his songs were always so emotive. So sad he's no longer with us 😢
They Always been in 67/69 pop songs in Syd's feeling !
My best band ever! The unique sound of early Pink Floyd!!!
Так начинали Великие .Pink Floyd forever!!
This song is a thing of utter beauty and simply sweeps me back to a better time. Surreal
Sinto uma tristeza... O tempo é ingrato. Amo muito.
One of their very best songs from the early days - brings back many memories - love the catchy vocal melody and bottle neck guitar - they were so young in this video and when they started. Time flies!
Bottle neck guitar by Syd Barrett.
That piano break @ 0:50-57 = That augmented 5th/minor 6th is everything.
it looks like much simpler and less stressful times for the band. It looks like they were truly having fun before it all turned into a huge production.
Magic... Superb Group Were Floyd Mk1.... Syd's contibution should never be underestimated!
Relics - Desert Island Disc!!!!
Great song and wonderful album.
Ah, once again, ignoring Rick as usual. But thanks for posting this rare treat. It's a blast to see them so excited and laughing before Roger and David began to fight with each other in the late 70s.
humbledb4jesus no way!!
Wright was actually the one that was fired, he was then re hired as a session musician to finish the album and he supplemented on their tour (even after Waters left in ‘85 he wouldn’t be fully back in the band till around the Division Bell era for contractual reasons). Just look at the writing credits for “The Wall”, a great majority of the songs were written by Waters and Waters alone, with Gilmour providing input for the guitar sections.
@@nationradical Comfortably Numb, Young Lust and Run Like Hell were written by Gilmour.
David Gilmour is a beautiful man.
A wonderful sond by Rick! Vibrant and very happy version! Floyd Rules!
One of my faves, I think this period Floyd were at their best..
Barrie Hellon-Warwick
A Saucerful of Secrets was the first Pink Floyd album I bought. To have all 5 members on this album makes it one of my favourite.
I prefer the album "More'' as the best short songs album of the Floyds !
Hoy 2020 ...año 1971..me compré el vinilo UN AGRADABLE PAR...discaso hoy lo sigo escuchando ...gran banda ..🎸👏
One of if not my most favorite Floyd songs, hits with nostalgia and always seems to carry me back,
I was just a couple years old, in 67
Rest in Love Richard Wright, you were the heart of Pink Floyd.
I would have a hard time lip syncing without smiling like an idiot.. This is so great, I love it.
Pink Floyd para sempre...
What a wonderful harmony and after all these years still standing! A great influence throughout my musical life
One of my favorite PF songs. Always brings me back to the summer when I was a teenager.
Mi banda favorita, y unos genios de la música!!!
Шедевр классики Легенда.
Keep on listening to the music of Pink Floyd 2019.... from cotabato Philippines.

+HDPinkFloyd I had no idea that was the second time that was played. This song is magical indeed.
Nicky couldn't come up with the right beats to this song. Maybe that's why they had to lip sync. The real drummer of the song Remember a Day is Norman Smith...Ah i read that he was a cool guy.
Zombiland598 It’s French tv.
Blocked by BBC...
Thank you BBC.
Do you have the link for this 1968 live version? I would love to listen and watch them playing this song live(Floyd was always better live)
if there was one band I would have to listen to forever it would be Floyd. Such an amazing body of work over the years, really no one else like them. Got the Shine On box set from my dad at 11 and really got acquainted with they're music, I really gravitated towards the Early Singles and albums with Syd. I love all the albums, Momentary Lapse of Reason was the last one I got into, as a kid. I even had Radio Kaos at one point as a kid, I dug that too, it felt like some parts of it were meant for Momentary Lapse of Reason, imo.
Absolutely, fabulous performance music. Thanks again, good time for you
There is a Pink Floyd song called Point me at the sky, and on its lyrics they said ...And if you survive till two thousand and five...kind of interesting knowing the last performance of Pink Floyd was on 2005. Anyway I love Pink Floyd.
And if you survive till two thousand and five
I hope you're exceedingly thin
For if you are stout you will have to breathe out
While the people around you breathe in
I've thought of that too, man lol. And to think also Syd AND Richard survived beyond 2005.
Syd made it until 2006. When I first heard Point me at the Sky it made me sad. I would love to see Water or Gilmour play it one last time.
Whoa! I never noticed that! Well done catching that, Carlo. That's almost like a prophecy or something.
Indeed. Good job
The cameramen were bad not to include Richard in the video!! Seeing that he sang the song. there is only that one glimse of him :( Great song!!
Of coarse it is Lip Sync, those were the days
+HDPinkFloyd so sweet!
+HDPinkFloyd Gotta love Dave's dance moves 1:13!
+HDPinkFloyd Lip Sync??? Rick Wright, the singer only gets a couple of seconds on this, and only on the instrumental!!. Cameras focusing on "Lennon, McCartney and Ringo" "George" doesn't get a look in even though he was a very good looking chap!! Absolute rubbish producers!
+HDPinkFloyd And they clearly had some fun with it all....such a gas.....
No lipsink here! It's Ricky who's singing, but he gets almost no recognition. Poor little Rick.
Hearing that song by Pink Floyd was amazing what a treat. The band members Pink Floyd are some of the best in the world!
Sublime.....most dreamy ❤️
Ребята еще не знают, что их будет любить весь мир !

A banda de rock mais maravilhosa da historia
I drift away to my own little world when I listen to this early Floyd.
What a rare gem!!! Thank you.
This is rare indeed. I loved it but I also had to shake my head at the camera person ignoring Rick and his vocal performance. It seems even in the early days, they failed to give him the respect/attention he deserved. I know in the later years he was seldom shown during performances, the most notable being the Live 8 reunion in 2005. Rick was such an integral part of the PF sound but always seemed to be in the shadows of the others. I know he was a quiet, gentle soul but for me, he will always be the unsung genius in this band whom I love.
+boston905 Totally agreed. The cameraman should be fired. Not even a second when Rick would be singing. The keyboard was also an important part of the song too.
Rick will never be forgotten.
Whoever hired the cameraman is an idiot. Rick wrote the song, he's singing it but yet he only gets a few seconds of screen time. Not cool. Good video though
This is one of the joys of Pompeii. Tons of Rick in it. Also in those days the songs would just go into these whole Rick solo sections, with songs breaking down to leave Rick suspended alone - Astronomy Domine, Set the Controls etc., and these sections, though only Rick is playing, nevertheless somehow still contain the whole feel of the band. Later, he became just this pad for Gilmour's solos, and thus kind of anonymous - a problem I've always had with later Floyd...
You can definitely feel the psychedelic touches hear what a masterful band
I have loved this since I was 14 years old Greatest Band on the Planet
Such a nice song. Should have been a single! Nice piano melody and soft sung by Wright.
AWESOME 😊💜😍
lol at 1:20 they were having so much fun faking it
Speak for yourself. I and plenty of my friends living in Toronto then had and listened to every album and song by Pink Floyd. That's what made this band so unique because they didn't care to saturate the market the commercial way but by spreading their music by the love of their loyal and dedicated fans.
Love this song... funny how much footage there is of Waters smiling and laughing up until about 1972, and then never again, at least not with Floyd... I'm pretty sure Nick Mason's Saucerful did this last year. Thanks for the upload. Nice quality, I used to have jumpy grainier versions of a lot of these awesome vintage Floyd clips, on vhs.
Музыка спасёт МИР 🙏👍
With Syd Barrett on guitar on the original studio version that they're miming to, recorded October 1967 with "Jugband Blues" and "Vegetable Man".
ils ont tous l'air super heureux d'être là, ça fait plaisir!
one of my favorite pink floyd songs. second only tho the masterpiece that is echoes
These guys are so inspiring this video makes me laugh all the time I love them all they are all so great
Este baterista é ótimo👍
Damn, Gilmour's face is like a work of art in itself by the Gods!
Such a beautiful song, I remember hearing it for the first time.
I love that they were laughing at the absurdity of pretending to play on these TV shows. The money, pressures, and egos had not taken hold yet, it is a refreshing mood.
1:09 Roger laughs uncontrollably and somehow turns 180° to the right. 1:00 the only time we see Rick's face and beautiful playing.
Probably the Acid
Excelente baterista❤
Thanks for the upload
This made me laugh so bad :'D they're the best!
how could such a young man create such poingnant lyrics and such a
entrancing sound which conveys the meaning so perfectly.... I believe
this song is an incredible piece of art which seems to flow from Wright
close friendship with Barret. It echos the childish nature of the early
Floyd songs on Relics and really sums up the whole idea of the other
songs on that album. You can see how the 2 must have been close friends
and had a common understanding of the music they created. The chorus
sounds like a child's cry and the whole sound is like a dream (which one
has to do in order to remember a day). I think artists don't really create such masterpieces consciously .. they just result as an expression of the inner workings of the mind in a similar way to how dreams manifest
idk when i first listen to this song and where i got this is early 2010.....i find many times on youtube, tanks for uploading such rare thing
One of my all time favorite Floyd songs
Absolutely!
Those instruments were advanced at the time, all wireless...lol
Right! No wire on guitar and bass. And nobody has a mic near his mouth !
