I have a copy of #5 that says 1897 in it where the publishing mark would be. No other dates. I always thought and even read in some places online that it was published in 1897 but it was a later printing in that year. I bought it for 50 cents in a garage sale.
The first edition, yellow/red, is my favorite. The colors are great and I love the lettering.
The first is always the best, but i love the artwork on the dust jacket of the 1930 editions (#4 & #5).
I love the iconic first edition. About 10 years ago or so, they released a replica edition of the first, albeit it was the dust jacket. But still.
