Next episode, Josephine tries Just Dance for the first time???
yes!!! I second this!
Definitely
I would LOVE that!
YESS
PETITION
You don't know Just Dance Josephine??????!?!?!?!
Its like a game, and there is a dance in the screen and you dance along to it and get points :)
Yep, it is on the Nintendo Switch
@@carolynbraunius1914 but was better on the wii
I never knew they were real people though 😅 I always thought it was computer animated
@@rik4754I did too
she lives in a pointe shoe 😂
I am not a dancer, but I am a musician and so the dancer math, i fully understand because as. a singer we have very similar 'math' xx
This is what I was going to so. Pianist here and as soon as she started counting I said "Oh, that's piano math."
Was going to say the same thing!
Singer here. That’s absolutely music math.
Yeah, I play guitar and oboe and I too understood every syllable 😅
I was a flute player and I had flashbacks.
Most instrumental musicians probably understood the dance teacher
Bro, I felt that in my soul
Singers too!
Came here to say this
Yep, violinist here, I understood
Absolutely! I’m a vocalist, former opera, we count exactly in that way.
It looks like the zamboni hasn't gone over that ice in a hot, hot minute. I would assume the "dirty" ice makes it slightly easier to maintain balance and not slip.
also , it looks like she was on two feet unless the guy was holding her so that probably helped a lot
I was thinking the same thing.
also ice isn't as slippery as one might think
that's exactly what I was thinking
Adding to the history of ballet vid because they showed degas paintings: by the time degas was painting ballerinas, ballet had lost most of its prestige and ballerina were low income girls trying to secure a future and financial stability for their families. These girls are shown with much older men because these men were known for essentially grooming the underage ballerinas, and many of them ended up in sex work. They were referred to by the public as “little rats” and harm done to them was never addressed.
Interesting, I had no idea, because nowadays the children that are in the Opéra de Paris dance school to become professional dancers are still called "petits rats", which means little rats.
@@virginiasoares826 interesting to hear that the name is still used!!
That vintage image of a black ballerina was a friend of mine Delores Brown. She was the ballet mistress for Alvin Ailey and was one of the singular most amazing humans I have ever met…
I'm guessing the nuns are possibly from Sister Act: The Musical.
I thought it might be Dracula!
That was my thought as well.
i was hoping it would be sound of music 😂
the ballet dancing deadpool is so en pointe (eh? EH? hehe) with deadpool as a character like i'm sure he's shown up in a full platter tutu and leotard before.
I was thinking she enjoyed that so much she should just go see the movies 😂😂
Figure skater and ballet student here... that ice had a lot of snow on it, meaning that it had been skated on a lot. It would be pretty rough compared to ice that had just been resurfaced. I think it would be less slippery than marley, actually.
Yep, I'm a (not very good) ice dancer and ballet (beginner) too, and that ice looks like the unslipperier ice I've ever seen. TBH I'm impressed by the skater because I'm too bad of a skater and that I don't feel like I could skate on at all. However I recall pointe shoes don't like moisture so I'd say these are at least treated with something. But Josephine probably knows more about that than me.
@@elpis_ezechielThe moisture aspect was what I wanted to know too! Does she wear fresh pointe shoes every time she does this?
I knew about the European Pink, but I didn't know about the rationale to avoid the appearance of nude legs onstage. Fascinating.
I’m not a professional dancer, but I’ve taken ballet and jazz, learned an instrument, sing, was in choir, and I was in colorguard in high school and now all my kids play instruments and my daughters are also in colorguard. And the “dancer” math is in ALL of those. I think it’s more performer math or music math than dancer math.
Jeez! I remember when this first began! How are we already on 34? 😂❤
I'm not a dancer but the 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 sends me back to choreography rehearsals for my high school musicals
We need more Deadpool as Odette! Maybe Iron Man as Giselle?
CAPTAIN AMERICA AS CLARA
Spider-Man as the sugar plum fairy!
The “male bird” clip is a dance style called cumbia wepa that is popular in northern Mexico and border areas of the US. Super cool style!
My realization that she was on ice, was obscenity-filled. I can’t be in that much awe and respect with clean language
I was an ice hockey equipment manager in college and wore a pair of suede moccasins all the time. Parts of the suede came out over the tread. That would stick to the ice when I crossed the rink for some of my duties. My guess is that something like that, if not suede, was on her pointe shoes.
It’s that “Pointe shoe lady” that does for me 😂
Someone needs to make sure Ryan Reynolds see that Deadpool on pointe. Better yet, Ryan reacting to Josephine reacting to Deadpool on pointe.
this here needs more attention
We need to see you play just dance for the first time!
👀
Over the past few days I’ve been watching the YAGP live streams and laughing at myself. Over the past year and a half while I’ve been stuck in a hospital bed I’ve watched hours of your videos and found myself fascinated by the science of fitting pointe shoes. Still it surprised me how much my attention kept drifting to the pointe shoes each dancer in the competition was wearing and the things that made my brain squeal, “OMG Somebody get that girl to Josephine!” Then I’d laugh at myself and try to stay focused on the dancer and what she was doing rather than just her feet.😂 Apparently I have overdosed on your channel.
The new Sister Act is looking great
5:00 Just Dance is a video game, and the girl in the video here is Little Siha. She's awesome, so cool for you to feature this! 💕
Did not expect my Twitch wires and the Pointe Shop wires to cross like that. 😄
I feel like Ryan Reynolds would totally go for the whole Deadpool on pointe idea, lol. I could just imagine a whole fight scene with Dp dancing through the whole thing in pointe shoes and doing the jumps.
Dance teacher math can totally be equivalent to music teacher math.
The accents on the beat totally gave me 7th grade orchestra vibes. 😂
Watch Deadpool. You cant take him seriously either. Lol
To anyone who hasn’t……Watch Deadpool.
Get frustrated/ enjoy as you wish. But there are many moments of brilliance and the physical styling of that whole character is utterly beautiful from a dance perspective so for sure watch it for at least that even if the rest of the story is not to personal taste.
THEN….read the fanfiction.
There’s some incredible work out there about mental health, ptsd, stuff that is amazingly funny, amazingly sad. And about how not everyone lives identical lives, but they live them anyway. I’m not a comic fan, not really a Marvel fan, but I am a fan of the characters that come out of that world and I’m in love with what fans do with them. It’s awe inspiring what people will write about when there are no commercial editors blocking their output. (Some fanfic authors are ‘real’ authors in real life btw). There’s some dross out there. But there is stuff that has made my cry my heart out or re read twenty times in special occasions as a treat.
You continue to tempt me to try ballet as an adult. One day!
Do it!!!
Loved this one, Josephine! Don't ever stop with the Ballet Tik Toks.
0:12 Savannah Bananas from my hometown! 🍑 fun fact: they used to be called the Sand Gnats (Savannah Bananas is so much better) 💜
My mind was blown when you reacted to Littlesiha/Avery! Her journey to becoming a coach in the game has been so inspiring in the whole Just Dance community. I’d love it if you tried playing the game or reacting to it sometime!
Girl really said "what's just dance" 😂
Dancer math is my teacher choreographing eight "counts" of a combination on music that's in 3/4 or 6/8
The dancer in the Deadpool costume really channeled the character. It was great.
Josephine not knowing about just dance killed me 😂😂😂😂
I went to high school with the savanna banana guy and just remember thinking he was so cool. He was a couple years older than me, but I remember him being a big deal in our theater department but I never knew he could dance like that until years later.
"Dance Math" sounds like gibberish to me 😂
I feel like sopranos and ballet dancers have so much in common because we spend a lot of time learning and practicing how to do things with (basically) just our bodies that other people can't do, and that we arguably should not be doing
As an ice dancer, I can tell you that that ice looks pretty choppy so there was probably little slide left and it actually doesn't hurt to slide on the ice on your knees.
I was a dancer and that sounded so normal to me. Does it really sound odd to anyone?? 😂
That tap dancing ballerina was insane!!!! Talk about innovation and talent!
The girl in the Just Dance clip is Avery, her YT channel is littlesiha and she does videos of her doing the different Just Dance dances. Apparently she's done this for a long time, though I didn't discover her until her videos and shorts of her journey becoming a JD dance coach. It was really cool seeing her being able to live out her dream and becoming part of the video games she loves so much.
I did color guard so the dance math was so funny to me it's so true😂
I danced years ago. I still count that way whenever I'm working out now. It just sticks in your brain.
OMG thank you for inserting the list over there ^^
My worlds. They're colliding. Honestly love Little Siha and Josephine so much.
2:04 not me being fluent in french and doing ballet since I was 2 (my dad is trilangual)
on ✨counting✨ lol: I'm not a dancer (past a few years of casual dance class when I was little), but I do have two degrees in music and to me this just sounds like explaining how subdividing the beat works (which is probably exactly what's happening tbh)
As an ice skater: you can walk on ice with regular shoes without slipping as long as you pick your feet straight up and down, and it seems like that's what she's doing (which is extremely impressive to manage while dancing). I've never seen a combo ballet/skating routine like that before!
Never took a ballet class in my life but have a little girls lifelong obsession with the shoes and the dresses and just the beauty of it. I have binged your entire back catalogue of videos and you’re probably the only creator on CZcams I can say that about. I am now fluent in ballet shoe terminology and could probably pass an exam. 😂
the egg shell woman had me wheezing!!!!
Love this
Her not knowing what just dance is KILLS me😭😭😭
Dancer Math also is Marching Band Math and Music Math and DDR Math.
7:43 this sounds to me like what I sound like trying to figure out the amount that I'm about to spend on groceries and deciding what I'm going to keep what needs to go back on the shelf and they're trying to tell my kids what we have to get done for the day and the things that I need them to do to help me so I can help them to help themselves to help me back.
lmaooo Im a drummer and did highschool indoor drumline and marching band AND dance. Luckliy the counting carries over into each other lmao
7:32 I’m a dancer and I was cracking up at that one, I totes understood that 🤣 THE LANGUAGE
And also if there's nothing on the tip, why doesn't the box dissolve when it gets wet on the ice?!
omg I love little siha!!
Love the video, but absolutely need that ballet make-up box ❤😂
I understood the dancer math simply because it is the same thing my band directors did to teach us rhythms as percussion.
Dancer math, lol. I tapped for many years, and I might go back in the fall. I totally get that 😂
I'm part of a Community Samba band, and 'dancer math' just sounded like 'learning new drum rhythms math' 😅
Just got approval for pointe class might get fitted when summer ends ❤
Josephine, you have to watch Deadpool to truly appreciate the humor of Deadpool on pointe. I'm dying over here, seeing that 😂😂😂
I think its so funny watching people in costume do ballet because its not what were used to! We are used to ballet being so graceful and elegant and its really not when your in a costume LOL!
dance math=30 years after my last class and i'm pretty sure i know what the foot work would look like 🤣
The dancer math, accurate, to any kind of dance.
I'm from the north of Sweden. So trust me when I say that ice really isnt that slippery when it is "scrached". Like, non glassy. Ruffed up, it is totally ok for pointe. About the same as a glossy wooden floor. /Catta
0:55 are we not gonna talk about how tiny the platform looks?!?
context about the sisters around 1.23:
it started on World Ballet Day 22 (I believe), when the Ballet Master at Berlin State Ballet gave a fun combo which he himself called „pas de Balanchine“. This quickly went viral
Yes it makes so much sense too me😂
brilliant video as always. Have you watched Irish dancing. WOW.... Not only famouse for their sound of those shoes working ten to the dozen. But the also dance on tip of toes. Well worth a look .Thin of River Dancing when checking this out. Enjoy.
When I hear “dancer math” I think of the mental calculations one does when performing & something is wrong (ie: injury or costume issues) to push yourself through the performance. I’ve heard of other performers doing similar things & there was a comedian who did a skit about it… I want to say it was Patton Oswald but I’m not positive. Anyway, that’s what I think of when I hear the term. 😂Although it’s probably because 9/10 times I was performing with a joint out of place (undiagnosed EDS for almost the entirety of my dance career) so the only way to get through a painful performance was to mentally calculate how much time I had left.
Not a dancer but its also “Musician Math’ so I totally get it - not only do I get it Im notating it in my head as she’s counting it out cause that’s what I was taught to do.😂
That dance teacher brought back memories lol
Merci beaucoup 🩰🩰😀
im going to my first ballet lesson in a few hours and its all because of you !!!!! i found my interest in ballet after coming across one of your videos about a year ago and now im officially doing it!!!! im so excited and im so thankful that you make videos like this :D
7:56 it sounds like band to me! The counting is the same for quarter rests and tied notes
the dance counting makes sense to me because I'm in orchestra and that is what it sounds like in my head
Don't worry josephine, "Dance pool" isn't meant to serious. Deadpool is a character from Marvel who is known for messing around and breaking the fourth wall while also being a mercenary. Most characters he interacts with think of him as an overgrown child that annoys them but he also has a surprising heart of gold.
Music does math like this too!
i am dancer so when i saw the dancer math video!! I was like this is so relatable.
6:38 I think I know what my next solo is gonna be 😂
I'm guessing a lot of non-dancers watch Pointe Shop. Im a chef and I'm addicted!
I both danced and played music. I blame each for struggling to ‘count’ in the other exactly because of ‘dancer math’.
Good show
I sang in my school choir and did band even before I started dancing I totally would ha e understood dancer math.😂😂
There was actually a pointe shoe with a blade made to use on the ice. You had to stay on pointe for the whole performance😮 hope you can check it out in the future ~
7:33 it sounds like when I used to play the violin loll
I'm not a dancer, but I do play some instrumments so the dancer maths was certainly familiar to me
I am not a dancer and I have dyscalculia, dancer math sounds like a confusing nightmare to me.
That's why I never lasted more than a month in a dance class. I can move, but don't ask me to count while doing it 😭
"Dancer math" sounds like musician counting. 1 e and a, 2 e and a.... etc. We count the same way for 16th notes.
Lol j actually struggled with waltz because I do modern hip hop and the count is different 😂😂
I'm not a dancer, but I was a musician... and this was basically how we counted. I counted beats and even rests exactly like the girl did in "dancer math."
my inner child is dyeing that she doesn’t know what just dance is. also that she doesn’t know that one ballet trend with the nuns
Dancer math is also Band math. As a band geek I understood the counts she was doing.
I hope Ryan Reynolds saw that video. The most dance I have done is Cheer in HS and some classes at my local pole studio. Yes, the counting is pretty much the same, they just add the accent move on a sound in the music.
@2:53 🎶you get the best of both worlds 🎶
Not a dancer, but a musician. Music teachers seem to have learned the same math..... 😂
