I found a Barbie Extra #3 doll at the thrift store. I cleaned up the doll gave her new clothes and made a Faux Fur coat and restored her to make my own version of Barbie Extra #3

Never see dolls like that in my area. My mom use to rescue dolls from thrift stores clean them up put new clothes on them.

Hello The Thrift Store should please take note and place each figure into a separate plastic sachet out of respect. What fun to restore any one it is. Just see how well it turns out. Just start with that bubble-bath scrub, shampoo and condition and you're all set for the rest. Now lets see - any make-up touch-ups to be done? No ... not even required. Outfit and accessories next. What a transformation. Happy restoring!

What measurements would you use for a furcoat for Ken?
I don't have exact measurements for the Ken Doll. Follow all the same steps for the Barbie coat but make the pattern slightly larger. 1/2cm to 1cm larger on all areas arms, sleeve and body and adjust the pattern accordingly. Thank you for your interest!
wondering if the fur sheds at the front opening?
Some fur sheds more than others but when its all sewn together it doesn't shed anymore.

Can I ask how long the doll takes to dry inside?
I stand the doll up on a towel overnight to let the excess water drain out

What is a Barbie “extra” doll?
Mattel has a Play Line of Barbie's (Barbie Extra) that have bright colored clothing and a lot of accessories. I've found some at thrift stores and thought it would be fun to restore and restyle the doll and also recreate the original pink fur coat with a DIY.
