  • I had a go at stealth bivi camping in the bluebell woods and remained undetected despite this area not being as quiet as I would usually go for. This was my first time using a bivi (bivvy?) bag and I totally loved it! It was so nice sleeping under the stars in the fresh air 😊 I also took my cheapo 3x3 tarp in case of rain, but as it didn’t rain, I just used it to cover my rucksack and belongings while I slept.
Thank you so much for watching, and thank you so much for 10k (now 12k) subs! I never in a million years thought this channel would grow so fast and am so grateful for your support 💜 :D
Thank you to the awesome ‪@AshOutdoorsUK‬ for letting me borrow his ‪@alpkit‬ bivi bag - think I'll be getting me one of these!
@Trekology - great pillow thank you I love it! Sooo much more comfortable than the one I was previously using
As always, respect our beautiful places and Leave No Trace
Bluebells are protected - keep to bare patches where they aren't growing and only walk on paths :)
The 3rd and final day of my lil Rhinogs backpacking trip will be going live on Friday afternoon at 2:30pm :D I kinda fell in love this backpacking thing, so the next multi-day trip is currently being planned, whoop!
Have a lovely day! Claire 🌿🐻

Hi everyone thank you so much for watching my first bivi :D a few people asking about day 3 of Rhinogs, it'll be out on Friday at 2:30pm, just thought I'd keep it on the same day and time that parts 1 & 2 were posted. I'm still a bit emotional about that trip coming to an end haha, but the next multi-night trip is in the pipeline :D much love! Claire 🌿🐻

Love watching your you tube posts. I’ve made them my Sunday morning watch with a cup of coffee 🙂. I was impressed with your fire lighting skills ( can’t remember the exact post) I laughed my head off when you showed your frozen shoe laces. Just one scare and that was the Easter pink bunny fleece (pink bunny fleece and open flames don’t mix) 😂. Great posts thanks for the laughs and info. Lee

I've been stealth camping a few times like this. I really enjoyed it and was careful to be as quiet and sneaky as possible. I took my son along after a few attempts as he wanted to come. He then shattered my illusions about how "stealthy" I was by pointing out that once I fell asleep my snoring could probably be heard echoing through the hills for miles.

That's one aspect of camping we, as men, are largely immune from, and therefore unawre of: the weirdo-factor. I'm not Schwarzenegger, but I'm large-ish enough that I'm not an ideal victim for some predatory weirdo. I've run into weirdos and people with mental problems out there but I've never really felt physically threatened by them. It's great that you're safety conscious. Love your channel.

There's a lot of truth in the old saying "an hour in the morning's worth two in the afternoon". Sunsets are great but there's something magical about sunrise and the dawn chorus.

Lovely calming video. Reminds me of my early stealth camps during the 1960's. Take it from me, who has camped globally in the wilds for almost six decades (and still do today)...you will get used to the sounds of the night, and even grow to love them. Then you'll regularly enjoy 8-hours sleep. One thing I'd advise is to get everything ready before dark and then don't use lights or head torches (and never 🔥 fires). There's nothing more likely to show someone where you are than a light (that comes from military training). The less you use lights at night, the stronger your night vision becomes. This strengthens the night-cones in your eyes, to such an extent that I now have no problem trekking through dense forests at night without a torch. Plus of course, the 🌟 stars will always shine brighter. Have a great week. Subscribed. 😉

Dear WildBeare, I discovered your videos on CZcams today. I immediately watched two in a row. You sweetened my day with your so shamant, cheerful way. Your feeling for nature, air and stars is also so wonderful and I could really sympathize with it, because that's exactly how I feel when I sleep in the forest. I'm from Germany and my English is only so-so, I can still understand, not everything, but that didn't matter at all, because your voice makes you feel right. You have made extraordinary videos and thank you very much for that.

You should come to Sweden and enjoy "allemansrätten". It means that everybody has the right to explore nature almost everywhere and with just some restrictions. For us it's an obvious right to be able to do that but in many countries I understand that possibility is restricted because of private properties etc. And I can almost guarantee that the risk of beeing disturbed by other people while camping is close to zero. Btw, I love your smile and you look gorgeous☺️

Many times I have had to sort out underground fires. If you need a fire have it in something or look for a area that has had many fires in one place as the soil is already been burn and deal with so that soil shouldn't burn again. i hope I make sense🙃🙃😂😂

Ah Claire, a "stealth" bivi camp in a beautiful bluebell wood. My idea of a perfect way to spend time out in nature at one of the most magical times of the year. Sunrise and the dawn chorus... priceless and leave an indelible mark on you. I will be doing the same this weekend in what I call "Trailcam Wood". I use a British Army goretex bivi bag that I love but the Alpkit Hunka is great also. I also use the bivi bag to cocoon my hammock as an insulation and waterproof layer with sleeping bag also adapted to cocoon the hammock. It works really well and can be used either on the "floor" or off the ground in my hammock covering the options. A thoroughly enjoyable watch and listen Claire from start to finish. Thank you. Way to go! With all the hiking and camping I have done in the past. I have never used a bivy. I have been curious as to using one, but never brought myself to buy one. I have seen several varieties used and admired how much simpler they were to set up and use.
Thanks for sharing this experience with us. It was a great pleasure to virtually tag along with you again. I am looking forward to your next video.

Awesome camp Claire. Looked an amazing spot that and pretty stealthy. You even wore blue to blend in with the bluebells lol. Look forward to your next adventure.

I've also recently done my first stealth bivvy wild camp in a storm damaged plantation near a reservoir. I can relate to all your experiences. Worth spending money on a decent pillow. Adore your fun and real videos.

Your videos are very calming to me - and beautifully shot. I car camp in the U.S. about 1/2 the year on public lands, and every place I land seems lovely in it's own way.

Hello from Idaho :-) that’s an incredibly beautiful spot to camp. Those bluebells are amazing. I’ve never seen them in person. Thank you for bringing us along. Your video and audio are great, the new camera is quite nice.

Bivvy camping is such a great way to reconnect with nature, super lightweight too. Also Trekology make the best pillows. Thanks Claire, take care 👍🙂💖

It is my favourite way of camping as it's very versatile but my lanshan 1 is lighter than my tarp & bivvy.

Lovely video, thanks! Those English beech woods are so elegant looking, I can imagine those trees in the wind waving their arms about. I am off backpacking in Wisconsin on the weekend for 7 days, Friday marks 10 days after my second Moderna shot and I have been craving wilderness for the last 10 months.

    Great
Loved the respect of the bluebells.
A bin bag takes up no space and very useful for keeping stuff dry and safe from bugs. Plus handy for your rubbish at the end.
    Well Done 👍🏻

Watching the video, it shows clearly that it is not always necessary to travel long distance to appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature. For me, the Laurentians hills and forests are my backyard and its also beautifull. Thanks for sharing the good video, awesome.
