*Here's a free tip for everyone:* don't bring more than 25-30 75mm shells, they're still ammo to be eaten by ATGMs and sabots and don't bring more than 20 128mm shells, the 128mm ammo sits on the bottom left side of the tank where people usually miss and hit the transmission instead, if you bring more than 30 75mm shells however, the entire right wall of the tank will become a massive ammo rack that are going to detonate even from shots from the left side.
Thank you I had been wondering how many shells to take for the Maus.
So 20/20 is the ideal amount.
@@silveredbullet802 20/20 can be ideal too, yes, you can take 25 if you feel like spending some ammo or bringing some extra smoke shells, I usually bring around 23 shells, 20 HEAT and 3 smoke rounds, the rest of the ammo I just bring 18-20 of the 88/128mm ammo that was added later.
I take my tanks into test drive with some ammo, start shooting away shells and looking at X-ray. It seems not every shell in second stage in modeled, sometimes two disappear together after I reloaded them. There is one in the barrel. So just fire, wait for the reload to complete, then check if you have unwanted ammo racks that are easy to hit.
Then bring one or two more if you are really good at getting first shots off, or just want to smoke up a place before you see any enemies. I usually bring two extra smokes for my shermans in the side rack, lob them off into possible enemy sniper points before entering battle and load APHE. I do this because I sometimes run out of primary ammo.
Does this also apply to tanks that are on lower BR such as 1.0 - 3.0?

@@Hadrian9707 My entire career with the Maus is under 40 kills, and I unlocked it when it was still in the tech tree. I got so frustrated playing it back then when it was just HEAT and early ATGM that I actually threw the gold down to spade it just so I would never have to play it again unless I really wanted to. Thus I have played it maybe 5 times since it got removed from the tech tree. I don't know if aced/maxxed crew makes that much of a difference but from the videos I've watched and my personal experience it feels like I'm playing a completely different vehicle both mobility and firepower wise. Honestly how does a 128 bounce or do no damage so much?
I try to avoid bringing the maus out on open terrain maps for that reason but if I can get any urban city map or a desert map with ample hills I'll be fine as long as cas isnt super prevalent in the match.

@@lordpumpkinhead265 you can move in an up tier but you gunner will be in a constant cycle of couscous and unconscious while in a down tier you will have your cannon and 2 tracks blown out
There is a key bind you can set to switch to secondary gun sights, it makes aiming that 75mm a lot easier.

@@kpcaptrauma There are a few related settings. "Select secondary weapon" is the main one. It switches your left click to fire the second weapon. You need to bind "reset weapon selection" to go back to normal. You can also bind "select primary weapon" to flip-flop quickly.
The quick-and-dirty thing I recommend too is bind "fire secondary weapon" to right click so in a pinch you can shoot the main and secondary weapons distinctly. Apparently this is not the default, it's been so long that I assumed it was.

At least certain ones you can slug it out with lol. Being crippled and then picked apart by APDS on the Swedish Cheese Wedge Strvs and getting absolutely blapped by IT-1s that are sitting behind hills are some of the only things that lead you to getting killed without being able to fight back that isn't the fault of the hubris of a Maus driver thinking they are absolutely invincible. I used to be kinda sympathetic towards the cause of wanting to get the Maus' BR lowered but that was before I actually owned it and got to experience it in a few full down tiers. Absolutely rolling over the enemy as an unstoppable force of nature to crush them beneath your Kruptstahl treads is certainly a fun experience but any lower and it'd be an even bigger monster than it is currently in those kinds of matches.

I have had the mouse for years without really using it much and thought I would take it out to grind some mods at -50% and you know what.
It is actually not that bad currently. Not because it is better than before, but so few actually remember how to fight it.
It’s definitely very fun. You get used to fighting things with minimal armor so that helps.

If your team is bad - you are gonna get bitter ending.
If your team is mediocre - you are gonna surprise-kill many enemies and generally have a fun
If your team is excellent - you are gonna get 1-2 kills, because the rest of your team already sits in the enemy team, spawnkilling
If the enemy team is bad - You'll generally have no problem
If the enemy team is mediocre - That's what I like, a challenge. Engaging, getting damaged, fun.
If the enemy team is excellent - you might as well call it your teams fault
It's slow, but has surprisingly steady gun handling.
When angled (holding a C button to lock the turret), can waste some time of the enemy.
It's 75mm shell can trollpen IS-3s and other vehicles, if mastered.
If overrun by more armored/fast enemies, try to disable tracks and play bunker.
It can work well as a AP sponge, if 2 Mauses are deployed on each side/flank.
*Support and be supported, plan minimally, use on-spot mobility to turn-kill flanking enemies, situational awareness 150%*
