Microwave Trick that No One Knows ● TIP

  • A little known feature no one uses on their microwave. Allows you to set multiple times and power levels in a row on your microwave oven. It will time down without it running, and then turn on, and heat an item without you being there. Convenient when you're busy with the stove and oven and you want something to be ready and heated in the microwave for a certain time. Most people only know to turn on the microwave but with this hidden feature the microwave becomes a timer for multiple heat settings in a row.

    Thank you for sharing this trick bc I never could do this method before this video. Short and to the point, well done in my opinion. Now this summer when I make lasagna my house won't be hot from the oven lol seriously.

    Cool, didn't know that time trick. Also thought microwaves only warmed things that contain water. Plate warming is nice

    I'm going to have to try that on my microwave. I have no idea if it works. Thanks! I bet that is why some meals say let set for 1 or 2 minutes. You can time the rest period at the end, too. THEN the end bell/buzzer sounds.

    We LOVE the multiple cooks on my very old microwave! Multiple power settings is the best reason. Ours is WAY easier to program, though. The "Time" button is SO unneeded on these units that have it.

      Not really. The reason it's there is that most microwaves have a quick minutes option. So pressing a number starts the microwave in x mins.
      If u want 22 seconds or 1m 20..i wouldn't be able to do those. Because pressing 1 would start cooking for 1 min and I'd have no way to add any seconds.

    Nice trick! Actually, that's two tricks for me, because I didn't know you could heat plates in a microwave. I've been using our toaster oven set on 150-F. All good wishes for 2020!

      Make sure your plates have no decorative GOLD (or Silver). METAL should never be put into a microwave. The instruction book should include that info.

      Empty in that context means that the microwave doesn't contain anything that will heat up. Since the plates do heat up, it means it's not empty.

      @@chrisnotap Sorry for the reply to a two-year-old post, but Bill Oggi is correct. The problem with running a microwave empty is that there is no water to absorb the microwave radiation and that radiation gets directed back into the magnetron. When that happens for long enough it creates a runaway heating effect that can, if you're lucky, trip a thermal fuse, and if you're not so lucky, ruin the magnetron. Regardless, the fact remains that running a microwave without water greatly increases the chances that you will ruin your microwave. If you want a surefire way to prevent overheating while warming your plates in this manner, just add a cup of water to the mix.
      If you don't believe me, google "running an empty microwave" and you will find a plethora of information from scientists and manufacturers that confirms what both Bill and I have posted.
      As to the multiple time and power settings, I never knew about that... That's a feature I will definitely be making use of it in the future. 👍👍

    @mattferrigno9750 Před rokem +1

    Please don't listen to this guy because he obviously doesn't know how a microwave works. It excites the molecules in water which then create heat which cooks your food.
    You can't put a plate or other object into it and think it will heat up. You need to wet the object or it needs to contain moisture. If your plate is getting hot and it's bone dry then your plate has moisture in it or your cooking the air in order to create heat for the plate. I wouldn't recommend this.
    If you want to heat up your plate the proper way like most places do. Make sure there's some moisture on the plate before microwaving.

    microwave some water in a coffee mug on high for two minutes. Take out and let stand until room temperature then water your least favorite plant, repeat process until plant dies. YOU SHOULD NEVER PUT ANYTHING THAT YOU OR ANYTHING ALIVE CONSUMES INTO MICROWAVES. THEY ARE DEADLY

      What is it that you think the microwave is actually doing to the water? It is simply using microwaves to excite the particles of water which heats them up. The microwaves are not remaining in the food. They dissipate immediately. So the only danger is overcooking things which may damage some of the vitamins making the food a bit less nutritious. This can be avoided by lowering the cooking times of veges.
