I'm not even sure it can be described as "going back in time" as people then at least had the excuse of not knowing what we do now nor having the choices we have that resulted in many of the social and religious practices of their day. Would the religious people of the past really be so uniformly be against life saving abortions for the mother, knowing just how often women lost their lives to failed pregnancies? Would they choose to disregard what the Bible says about life starts at birth, so willfully endangering the mother for the sake of an unborn fetus when you don't have to, and might possibly have considered it the most unChristian thing ever?
Modern Christian fanatics want to create a religious fantasy that never really was, and think that somehow they can force all other people to fall in line. They don't get that part of the reason they have the luxury of this extreme religious fantasy is because we no longer live with real hardships of life due to modern medicine and hygiene- the conveniences of modern life that they dislike so much. I doubt any of them really understand the real consequences their plans might unleash rather than their fantasy visions; that rather than the religious utopia they envisioned they will get a social hellscape where all the conveniences and order they like breaks down.
