    The new Focus introduces Ford’s next-generation SYNC 4 technology to greater numbers of customers than ever before, enabling cloud-connected navigation and connected voice control with natural language understanding. SYNC 4 is supported by an all-new, largest in segment 2 13.2-inch landscape centre screen with an intuitive interface designed to make it effortless to navigate a comprehensive range of driving and comfort features. The technology also allows Ford Power-Up wireless software updates to improve functionality over time.
    Advanced driver assistance technologies introduced to Focus for the first time include Blind Spot Assist, 3 which monitors the driver’s blind spot for vehicles approaching from behind, and can apply counter-steering to warn the driver and discourage a lane change manoeuvre if a potential collision is detected.
    New Focus also for the first time introduces an automatic transmission option for the fuel-saving EcoBoost Hybrid 48-volt mild hybrid powertrains, offering up to 155 PS. The seven-speed, dual-clutch Powershift automatic makes driving less demanding - particularly in city and stop-start traffic - while complementing the hybrid powertrain’s electrically-boosted performance for typical Focus fun-to-drive.
    The Ford Performance-inspired ST-Line variant’s sportier character is delivered using a uniquely proportioned trapezoidal upper grille, supported by a gloss black honeycomb finish alongside broader side vents and a deeper lower grille. ST-Line variants also feature side skirts, a rear diffuser and a discreet rear spoiler.
    The adventurous Active variant takes inspiration from SUV design cues for a more rugged appearance. A wider upper grille features more substantial vertical strakes, and a deeper lower grille and taller side vents complement the raised ride height and black body cladding.
    Available with 125 PS and 155 PS power outputs, the new Focus’ 48-volt mild hybrid 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid powertrain is also available with a six-speed manual gearbox, with WLTP fuel efficiency from 5.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions from 115 g/km. The hybrid powertrain replaces the standard alternator with a belt-driven integrated starter/generator (BISG), enabling energy normally lost during braking to be recovered and stored in a dedicated lithium-ion battery pack. The BISG is also able to act as a motor, providing torque assistance to either increase the total torque available from the powertrain for more responsive in-gear acceleration, or reduce the amount of work required by the engine for improved fuel efficiency.
    The new Focus also offers Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with 100 PS and 125 PS power outputs and a six-speed manual gearbox, and from 5.1 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 116 g/km CO2 WLTP. Features including Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing and high-pressure direct injection contribute to overall efficiency and responsive performance.
    For higher mileage drivers, Ford’s 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engine is available with 95 PS and 120 PS power outputs, with fuel efficiency from 4.0 l/100 km and 106 g/km CO2 WLTP. Both versions are offered with a six-speed manual transmission, and feature an integrated intake manifold, low-inertia turbocharger and high-pressure fuel injection to reduce emissions and increase combustion efficiency. An eight-speed automatic transmission is also offered for the 120 PS variant.

    Amazing car. I have a 2007 Ford Focus SES 5 door hatchback which the 2023 Ford Focus 5 door hatchback looks very similar. I like the car. Good job

    I still don't know if it mounts multilink or torsion beam on the rear. Many say is a torsion beam, some say is a multilink. Great review, finally a detailed one!

    Ordered my focus st line x 155 mhev in agate black getting it in October looking forward to it. Only issue I had was I couldn't get them to add parking pack as shortage of chips but never mind don't need camera but woulda been nice. Also no way of locking the petrol cap so accessible anytime by anyone...

    A emergency spare tire is possible. If you buy also the B&O stereo upgrade the woofer will be placed in de spare tyre. Both have one disadvantage. The bottom of the luggage will be higher so the net luggage space will be less (as with a lot of cars)! The room underneeth trunk mat is barely usable, only for a few small things. I have read that te big sync4 screen is at the moment not mounted (lack of chips) and replaced by the sync3 infotainment system, which I think is a big plus, I think the big sunc4 screen is too big and disonates with the rest of the interior.
    By the way, I own since january 2020 a 1,5 182 hp ST-Line, until now without any problems, I love te car. Fast, comfortable on long yourneys and fuel economic also.

    Because you dont have that turning wheel for shifting is that they are using a new transmission gear box and it could not be handle with a twist button

    This is very beautifully. But like you said the gear shift they should have put the wireless one . But this is the car I can buy if I am buying a smaller car .

    Ford Focus 1.0 125 hp ST-line vs Seat Leon 155 hp FR. They are very similarly priced. Which one would you chose and why?

    I'm not sure about the rear suspension, i think only 150hp or more comes with multilink rear suspension, other less powerfull comes with torsion beam, and the boot capacity i think is the same as mk4 , 375l not 392l.

      The ST-Line hatchback only had multilink rear suspension on the 1.5 EcoBoost 150 and 182 models. The 1.0 EcoBoosts have always had torsion beam. Since the 1.5 EcoBoost engine is no longer available, all ST-Line hatchbacks are now fitted with the standard torsion beam. If you want multilink rear suspension on the hatchback you'll have to pick either an ST or an Active variant. However, all SW models have multilink rear suspension, the ST-Line included.

    curious to see this st-line with the old analog instrument cluster. 2021 came digital. also automatics are way better with the rotatory gear selector.

      not all st-line trims are the same, standard st line has analog cluster and higher trims have digital
      UK have st line x
      Ireland have st line vignale
      both are focus with st kit plus more options from higher trims

      St line Vignale now in UK, X models were pre facelift. Order books are now temporarily closed due to parts for the sync 4 screen made in 🇺🇦. Production now being transferred to Spain.

    Great review. I love this car. Unfortunately the Focus appears to be in short supply at the moment as Ford are struggling to produce them given a shortage of parts (especially the infotainment screen). So may not be easy to get one in all markets.

      Tell me about it Ben I ordered the ST line vignale estate on the 11 th March and I’m having to wait until at least July but I suppose at the moment it’s the way the world is but I’m sure it’s going to be worth the wait but I’m itching to get that call to say it’s arrived over here in the U.K.

      @@PiperX1X Ah well, July is not too far away and it is nice to have a new car to look forward to! Let's hope the date doesn't get pushed out. You have chosen a good spec. Here in New Zealand, where the car was supposed to be released in June, dealers say we might not see it now till 2023.

    170NM is the non-hybrid 125 hp engine. This Mild Hybrid has 210NM torque.

      we don't know, it's a dispute on this...For example, on my country the data sheet says that it has 170nm, while on other countries we can see 210nm torque... A small battery can't increase the power with 40nm...

    Is it really multi link in the rear? Ford had removed that from the Focus a year after the launch of the MK4

      Nope, Ford has dropped it as you stated. Only the ST and the estate versions get the multi-link rear suspension :(

      The standard rear suspension is a twist-beam setup, but the Wagon and other variants will get a multi-link setup in a short-long-arm configuration on an isolated subframe. The wagon gets unique dampers and dedicated geometry, and customers will be able to order continuously controlled damping.

    Nothing against that car as it stand, but is quite unfortunate to see compact hatchback, not even estate variant with 1 liter engine to cost as much as 35K.

    I assume Ford have disbanded their design team and replaced it with an AI system with gets an input of all the current competition and just averages out everything and produces the drawings for the production team to implement

    EcoBoom its not eco boost 😂😂😂😂 my car done only 38k miles and engine is gone. Parts you can't buy at Ford main dealer they try to sell you complete engine block instead off selling me 8 bolts for Crankshaft main bearings 😂😂😂 Good luck 😂😂

    Too bad that the materials are really bad on this Focus..I have the pre-facelift model, and as much as I love my car, I hate that I see that plastics are in really bad shape, inside or outside(because of poor quality check), and I'm not a person who doesn't care his car...I've ordered this new Ford Focus MK 4.5 Titanium X and waiting to receive it, estimated build date it's July 2022, but I don't belive this...Let's see how it'll go.

    Is this some pre-production car? It has that huge, ugly transmission lever. But a couple of weeks ago in Cologne I've seen an MK4.5 ST with an automatic transmission and it had the dial known from the MK4.

      The dial only comes with the ST or the diesel, unfortunately the others have the lever.
