Most generally... the temple is much slower to have the pocket established

Some mighty grooving going on here, what a pity the recording is poor quality. Better than nothing though so cheers for it

Not really pocket, but Danny has said he uses his “internal pulse” to feel odd times instead of counting them straight.

The problem ive found is no one plays in the pocket themselves, they all expect the drummer to be perfect for "how they play"...that is such a hard thing to do to be all things to all players. I lost my gig because a "singer" who couldnt keep up with his own song choices wanted me to slow down and speed up at his "whims" at the moment. He would drop down in the middle of a guitar solo 3 to 4 beats per minute when the guitarist is ripping a solo as hes playing his campfire acoustic shit. Imagine playing something like magic power from triumph and then in the middle of everything he starts playing his acoustic guitar at half speed with zero regard for whats happening with the whole band and yells back at me to "SLOW DOWN!!!!..when i have studied time and meter for 35 years...hes delusional and unfortunately ive had too much crap from players who dont know time and meter themselves. I took my skills and left the entire scene to themselves....gone, buh bye!!!!

I hope you're still able to play drums somewhere.

@revajw9027 No...I dont care to anymore I've found its made me so frustrated I feel drums are just not enjoyable anymore having to back a singer. In the days when we were younger bands were bands...a gang of friends and we played like it was our life because it was....now it's about "jobbers" and singers who want you to do what they want how they want it for themselves....im not hired gun dude anymore its all about the money now and the skill sets are non existence with the older players who think they are Rockstars at 55 years old picking up an acoustic guitar slinging three chords and sucking the entire time. Nope nope nope nope!!!!...im done!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. It's a shame whenever a competent drummer drops out of the lineup. I've been a part of a local blues jam where we all just get together and play improvisational blues. It's been wonderful since there are very few egos that show up and it's a real growing experience for everyone.
