  • The Providence Chrono Delay DLY-4 is a fantastic and extremely handy delay, which has been John Mayer's choice of delay for the past few years. The DLY-4 offers both presets and tap tempo features, tone adjustment for the repeats, beat split selection, among other features. Here I go through several tones and features of this fantastic unit.

    My favourite feature is the echo shaping/echo hardness. The a/b presets are great too. And it sounds absolutely killer overall!

    Everything about this pedal is amazing, long delays, the echo hardness, tap tempo, small screen. It’s miles ahead of the boss dd-3 which I currently own.

    Best features for me would be the accurate tap tempo, echo hardness and being able to set the BPM! Makes it really useful in the studio for recording.

    Greetings from Brazil! For me the features that stand out in this pedal are the LED displaying the delay time and the tap tempo in such a small enclosure. There are other pedals, such as the Strymon Timeline, that also have these features, but in general are big ass pedals! Regards! @thiagocesaro

    Nice demo, thank you. Are there ready made presets? Can you create presets? Is there a guide to what settings classic songs use eg: Pink Floyd classics, Mayer tunes of course etc?

    • @JohnMayerGear
      @JohnMayerGear  Před 2 lety +1

      I haven't really made like full presets for different tunes or tones! It's a good idea, tho. I'll dig into it, thanks!

    I think what makes this pedal very special is the combination of its features. The feedback + echo hardness is very unique. Also, not every pedal has the beat split to make a perfect tempo instead of the tap. Greetings from Mexico!!

    Hi, I bought the Chrono Delay following your advice. It is a great clean delay! Have you looked at the settings of the delay for the song Heartbreak Warfare please? Thanks!

    • @JohnMayerGear
      @JohnMayerGear  Před rokem +1

      Hi! Heartbreak Warfare requires either two delays, a dual delay or a multi-head delay: one set for quarter notes and one det for dotted eighth notes

    • @Florian-78
      @Florian-78 Před rokem

      @@JohnMayerGear thank you. Both at the tempo of the song, right? I set the Chrono in quarter note and add a multi delay in dotted eighth notes. Thanks

      @@JohnMayerGear yeah, like I could see using it on a more ambient song with longer delays to emphasize the space of the song (think the “check” part of Something’s Missing) and then it’s also perf for quick delays like a slap too. Just allows for more versatility in an easier way
