Share you thoughts with us about autism and what you think neurotypical people should know about autism.

I'm a neurotypical person. It's great to have simple explanations of complex topics like this. I realize ASD is not simple. I also liked the way you debunked those myths.

This simplifies autism well. I’m not autistic, it’s great to have a simplified explanation. I really like how you said people with ASD have a “different operating system.” Thanks!

Great explanation. I’ve always felt too intimidated to ask anyone to really explain what ASD is. This does a great job of simplifying ASD into something that can be easily understood.

It's nice to see that autism is more and more spoken out, talked about and explained in a complete way like this. However, as an autistic person, I still have disagreements:
The autism spectrum is a multidimensional spectrum, not a line that's has two ends in high-functioning and low-funcioning.
Functioning labels are obsolete and totally unhelpful, in some cases they can be even harmful. In my opinion, they also emphasise on the potential contribution to society as the measure of the human value, rather than acknowledging intrinsic value to human beings.
We autists say autism levels should be seen as low, medium or high support needs and a person is not necessarily going to stay in the same level throughout their life. Besides, support levels in DSM-5-TR are now assessed criterion by criterion, not as a whole measure of the condition.
Saying that autism is not a disease just because we don't know the exact cause implies that when causes are finally identified, autism would be then categorised as a disease. No, even when we know the causes, autism would still be a condition, a disability yes, but not a disease.
    P. s.: please, don't put Elon Musk as an example. He is one of the dark spots in the autistic community.

Thank you for sharing your insights as someone with firsthand experience of ASD. Your perspective is invaluable to us, as it provides a depth of understanding that we may not have otherwise. While we strive to create accurate and informative content through extensive research, we recognize that there may be gaps in our understanding. Our goal is to continually learn and improve, especially when it comes to topics like autism. Thank you🙏

Autism is strongly linked to not being able to go to school. This is a very serious issue. If you know of a child who is having extreme difficulties attending school, tell their parent to look at autism. They can become suicidal from as early as 8 and begin cutting themselves by 10. Look into "unschooling" as an option to save your child's life.
