    Amazing how many fans Mr. Thomas has thanks to Forensic Files. I had no idea how often I heard his voice without even realizing it was him.

    I saw this AED in Grey's Anatomy season 18 episode 7, I was on my laptop while my godmother was watching the show, when I heard the AED voice, I thought to myself "Wait a minute, was that Peter Thomas'' voice?" and sure enough I was right!

    Great video, love Peter Thomas and so glad he agreed to help with this!!
    Only difference than when this video was filmed is MOUTH TO MOUTH IS NO LONGER RECOMMENDED!!!!! PLEASE ONLY DO CHEST COMPRESSIONS DURING CPR!!

      @@logan4844 They no longer "advise" mouth-to-mouth specifically to not freak people who aren't trained out, if you aren't squeamish you should still do Mouth to Mouth, at least that's what I've been taught.

    If the first shock did not correct the rhythm and the patient continues to show no signs of life, CPR is indicated.

    No. Good guess though!
    It's actually Peter Thomas. He might be best known for his narration of numerous PBS nature documentaries, as well as TruTV's Forensic Files (just to name a mere two examples)

    Why perform CPR after a shock? When I was trained, the AED would analyze after shocking and then either tell you to shock again, or that no shock is advised and to check the pulse.

    • @Austandbay
      @Austandbay Před 3 lety +4

      To continue to attempt to have heart beat.

    • @fabplays6559
      @fabplays6559 Před rokem +1

      Because every minute that you're not performing CPR, no blood is getting pumped and the patient is losing oxygen. (i.e Dying). Not to mention it is not the shock that restarts the heart, it is actually the compressions. When the shock stops all heart activity, in order to start the heart again you need to perform compressions, otherwise the shock is doing nothing but stopping the heart.

    • @Brokenrocktail
      @Brokenrocktail Před rokem

      These smaller battery powered defibrillators can take the better part of a minute to charge for a second shock. That’s a minute with no oxygen and a minute closer to death. Many of them will tell you to check pulse and resume CPR until they’ve charged again then they will make another shock advised decision at that time

    • @Brokenrocktail
      @Brokenrocktail Před rokem +1

      @@fabplays6559that’s not entirely true, the defibrillator resets the heart and depolarizes all of the muscles to set it up to beat again, the chest compressions may aid in restarting the heart but depending on the rhythm the heart may very well start back up after a shock
