Ironically, the harder you work for the bonus the higher your risk of passing away and the faster the bank cut you off from the cost calculation.
A sad reality unfortunately
Very sad to hear about the wall street banker's death.
Pursuing a role in IB has often been seen as a short-term strategy to accrue some wealth and experience to exit into industry roles that are more attractive. Whilst it might seem rational and worthwhile for some, for many it still isn't a fair trade-off given the temporal nature of life.
My first grad role was at Goldman and although I wasn't front office, it really wasn't worth it doing 50-60 hour weeks for very little profit sharing. Flexibility and autonomy were far more important...I left Goldman to join Microsoft and have led a far more fulfilling life working the same if not more hours on my main job and also have the time and energy to build a youtube channel and career coaching business.
No regrets and by far the best decision of my life!
$2 billion merger as well! WTF is involved in a $2 billion merger than you need to work 100 hours a week for? Isn't there a team?

Coming from your CFA vs Masters video, which dates 5yrs back or so, i was wondering if doing the FMVA offered by CFI , could help me in venturing into IB as a junior analyst or securing any internships. How valuable or is CFI certs worth it ?
I just want to know do analysts/associates get pensions at Goldman sachs or jpmc or other investment banks?

Cap on bonuses was stupid in the first place
Everyone I know is out within 1 to 2 years now. Best to exit into other options than trying to climb the corporate ladder to MD
Why though?
If you stay in the ladder and advance into MD, you can quickly swap into equally high positions in private equity funds or hedge funds 🤷♂
@@firstconsul001 no. Less than 3% make it to MD at top I banks . At that stage is better stay and milk share options and multi million bonuses.

That’s FIG for ya. Very sad, but those are the hours. That’s not specific to BofA. FIG is absolutely brutal, that’s known. He was 35, it says his death was from natural causes, but those hours would push anyone to their physical limit. Most people doing his job are in the 25-29 range.

There should be no cap on salary, however there should be min special tax cess on vulture capitalism and CXO/incomes over 300k

What did you do to become a "Trader/technical analyst"
Where did you go to university, where do you work right now? All these factors matter when it comes to being accepted to an internship.
Tons of international applicants gets into Goldman Sachs every year, the only major thing that matters is your merit. If you went to a major institution like IIT and has experience in the Putnam, its a piece of cake.
