Tony was never good. Vince stepping down proved it. I have been saying this since AEW first began. That Tony isn't good. I got proven right by time. I gave this company a chance. Cause I wanted something different than WWE at that time. They came in at a perfect time when WWE was at it's worse. They had a tone of momentum. But when I saw who Tony was getting involved with I said it's only a matter of time until it starts failing. AEW is an indy promotion with a budget. The Young Bucks love that type of garbage wrestling. People don't want to see Indy garbage wrestling. Ratings are proving it.

Honestly even with all the scars, the wrestling world is a better place because AEW is in it. We don't see many of these changes if AEW wasn't here right now. I'm grateful for that. Like you said, most promotions don't even last that long. I was listening to a podcast about a promotion named WXO. It was Ted Dibiase's wrestling promotion that was launched at the beginning of 2000 and they were trying to be a family friendly promotion in a time where the culture was anything but. That lasted 3 episodes. So for AEW to make it this far is nothing short of a great accomplishment. Could things be better? Absolutely. But every company has peaks and valleys so the way I see it, this is a journey, and let's keep an eye on it.

I am a huge wrestling fan, if everyone says they are actual pro wrestling fans, you’re not a fan of wrestling that wanted AEW to fail? AEW hasn’t been great lately, it has something to do with the lack of storylines, no leadership, and no interest, it is more heavy wrestling about dream matches, we can praise The Elite in the show, but how long it will last if it’s going to get stale and boring to take over the show, and we have seen stables that take over shoes before like NWO, The Immortals, The Authority, and The Corporation, they take all the talent spotlight, the Elite is just a rating draw because AEW is suffering a lack of interest story, too many champions, too many PPV for pay $50.
And no AEW has not become WCW, unlike AEW, they were losing money, They refused to push top stars. It was always about Hulk Hogan and NWO, refusing to push top stars. And no WWE is not buying AEW if the business fails. And that will be a big mistake that is going to suffer WWE.
Make an interesting story not booking matches without a story
to get a lack of invested

oh they do, but it's not the e drones on twitter who want to see it fail. It's AEW's biggest supporters who are apologists for every stupid fucking thing this company does and refuses to hear or levy any criticism. The ones who think turning your biggest star and best heel into a comedy shmuck was a good idea. The ones who think Copeland jumping off the cage and landing on his feet was "cinema". The ones who say "RaTiNgS aNd TiCkEtS dOn'T mAtTeR".
They claim to love this company but they are looking at massive holes dumping water onto this boat and saying, "DON'T FIX IT!!!! I LIKE IT THE WAY IT IS!". We saw these same fucking idiots doing this with TNA, and look where they are now, wrestling in gyms in front of a couple hundred people with nobody buying their PPVs. Where are all of TNA's biggest defenders now? White Knighting for TK and AEW.
And the saddest part of all of it, they're in the echo chamber that Tony Khan pays attention to, the only one he listens to. These people don't buy tickets, they watch PPVs on pirate streams, they buy knock off merch, but they influence TK more than anyone because he's the king of the dipshits doing his best to appease his peasants. I hope eventually he wakes the fuck up and this company gets back to the original mission, being a second option for wrestling fans who want REAL pro wrestling, which means compelling story AND killer matches, not just one or the other.

I gotta say it. The biggest factor in AEW’s biggest downfall are the Bucks and their constituents. Only in the Dave Meltzer mind of professional wrestling does it make sense to have those guys featured as heavily as they are as the top stars. They are not over with the general casual audience and in any other era of nationally televised wrestling, they would be jobbers. They are two skinny guys who aren’t charismatic and aren’t the slightest bit believable as even fictional combat sports athletes.
Every single name you can think of that is underutilized in AEW can ultimately attributed to the fact that the bucks are a major priority of the creative team, and the rest are not. It’s an absolute joke that Jack Perry remained employed with that company (due to his friendship with the Bucks) when he directly caused AEW to lose their single biggest draw in CM Punk. Whatever someone like Jack Perry is getting paid in that company, it is too much. Especially in comparison in the mess he made. Especially when you consider that his spot essentially contributes nothing to AEW in terms of being a draw that attracts monetary value. The Bucks are a joke. Their style of wrestling does not translate to longevity when it comes to mainstream success. When Tony Khan and the other forces that be realize that the Young Bucks/ Dave Meltzer style of wrestling is costing them money, AEW will finally have an opportunity to potentially bounce back.

I love AEW. I don’t really know how to some the past five years so I’m going to do a year in review for each with my thoughts on how I think they should improve.
2019- great start, DoN was fun with Dustin vs Cody being still their best singles match ever in the history of the company. The first few weeks of TV were fantastic but still finding their feet. I can tell you week to week Cody and Jericho’s feud and Mox vs Omega. post Full Gear was rough with lack of direction and coasting.
2020: my favourite year for them. Locked away with nothing but creativity and stress. This still has some of my favourite AEW moments, Darby winning TNT title, two week Mox vs Allin build, Stadium Stamped, Brodie Lee’s run, Kingston and Moxley and Winter Is Coming being highlights.
2021: their biggest year. Punk returns in the greatest return of all time, Cole and Danielson debut in the best ending to a PPV ever, live fans. It was huge but there where times the company dragged things too long
2022: their first bad year, injuries all over, sense of freshness gone, Brawl Out, no MJF vs Punk feud in the autumn to help. It felt bleak and unfocused, still growing in west coast which was smart.
2023: better with a full roster, All In London. I enjoyed the summer stretch a lot but again with the autumn with AEW they just don’t seem to know what to do outside of 2021 and a bit of 2022. Collision was great under Punk but since he left it took a dive. Should have split the brands. All In was wonderful.
2024: talent wise best ever, Sting’s retirement was perfectly booked. Osprey has been great, Okada has been great but the company feels cold. I wasn’t excited at all for the PPV and I think near monthly shows makes them feel less special, I loved the big 5. It’s been a cold run with nkt that interesting stories but with great talent and wrestling to keep me as a fan tuned in. I expect them to bounce back.
I think if they kept their 2021 momentum AEW would be much further ahead, running shows in over countries and doing house shows. They feel like where they should be in 2020. The company after five years of being on a major network should be beginning to run major buildings in the US like a stadium show, they should be doing a UK tour for All In. Can they bounce back? Yes of course but they need to fully invest in stories, risks and making us go every week “that felt special and important”. It’s time for AEW to get competitive again

I really don’t see too much difference between TNA, Ring of honor and AEW. Yes they made it five years. That has more to do with them having more money than those other two companies and remember TNA lasted a long time too. Partly because of money but AEW just has a lot more of it.
I feel like all of these companies have tried to be the next WCW and it just doesn’t work. ROH maybe not so much I think they’re the only ones that semi stayed humble but as far as the product they produce, I feel like the style is very much the same. At least ROH before Tony bought, it wasn’t delusional and desperately trying to re-create the Monday night wars with no history to back it up. ROH also never completely lusted over former WWE talent but that might also be because until Sinclair bought them they really never had that much money backing them up but Sinclair was never going to give any one wrestler a multi million dollar contract I guess that’s why added the three ROH was the most original and the one I enjoyed the most, well, not in recent years, but I would say maybe two or three years before Sinclair bought the company and maybe three years after they bought the company I felt like I really enjoyed them. That was the only modern wrestling I even cared to watch.
It’s not easy to be this big national wrestling company. WWF and WCW did not do it overnight. They had different owners over the years, different names over the years, but both companies were smaller territories for decades. I can’t remember off the top of my head when WWF started, but WCW /mid Atlantic started back in the 30s originally.
They were able to go because point-blank they were really the best to territories. Both companies had been in wrestling families for decades, the wrestlers that worked at those companies up to the point of going national had a very talented roster of wrestlers that had worked in multiple territories, knew how to cut a promo, knew how to get over, knew how to sell, knew how to read a crowd. And they both went around the same time.
I felt like Tony should’ve taken some baby steps. I’m not saying he should’ve just started out as a territory, but think about how long WCW and WWF were around before they had multiple shows on cable.
I really think Tony would’ve been better off just having one show maybe two hours on TBS or TNT and work on building an audience. Maybe let Tony get some time learning how to be a good promoter. I just saw Tony on CZcams rolling down the stage at one of his events on one of his shows. I don’t think the man can help himself, but I think it would go along way if he would get off social media, stop doing the media scrums and stop being an honor talent. Stop worrying about how Melzer is grading your matches. WWF and WCW never cared about his star rating. Vince liked getting his opinion at one time, but I think that was more of Vince trying to get dirt on other companies then it was him getting Dave’s opinion. Vince McMahon never cared about anyone’s opinion. Tony needs to stop worrying about the five star rating and start worrying about being a good promoter and for the love of God, please stop mentioning WWE. It’s gotten very old.

The late 90's was a perfect storm for pro wrestling. Two legit behemoths working to beat each other week after week. No social media. Ratings were king. If you were able, you put two TV's side-by-side to watch Nitro and Raw. The networks allowed the envelope to be pushed. Kayfabe was alive and well. We talked pro wrestling at school, at work, made backyard wrestling videos. Wrestling was mainstream pop culture, and touched every corner of Americana.
Wrestling is better now that it was even 5-10 years ago, and there's certainly more money wrapped up in it now... but that feeling that the 90's gave us will never happen again. And that's a problem for the industry, because that's the casual audience. When The Rock comes back for Wrestlemania season, those are the people tuning in.
Those people aren't watching any wrestling now. They couldn't tell you who Chad Gable is. AEW will have to learn that the goal isn't to cater to the fans who will be watching no matter what... the goal is to bring in new fans. And that won't happen with their current business model.

I want it to succeed and it has in alot of ways but its moments like i said. When they have a great moment its usually followed up with something bad totally overshadowing it.. example cm punk.. they brought him back which is awesome but then drove him into the hands of the competitor and embarrassed themselves in the process... another example is jade and cody gave them a huge platform but they have now gone to a bigger one.. they need to be more consistent and reap the benefits of their decisions which is very tough when you have wwe always waiting in the shadows. Its a tough position but they have done well. Abit more consistency and they will be in a much better spot. Main thing thats missing is consistency for me.

The AEW eras I remember from the first Dynamite of October 2019 till Revolution 2020 and the first Dynamite back on tour at July until the rest of 2021 were the most fun weekly shows in my lifetime as I never grew up from watching 1980's wrestling and Monday Night Wars.
The AEW of Old more likely will never come back in term of stories, but In ring product that hasn't changed since day 1 that its was Tony Khan main focus.

And then the bloodline story and the rock came back and ppl tuned back into wwe. My points proven on that alone. They bring those part timers back and storylines wwe fans love so much, outside of that nothing matters

AEW did nothing to improve WWE. Don't thank Tony. Thank Vince for inflating his own ego so much he stopped paying his hush money.
Vince ousting himself saved WWE irregardless of AEW existing or not.

Aew isn't a real business. It's a TV show. They don't tour besides ppvs and TV shows. The videogame business is a money or pit. The merchandise department was run by the wife of an evp, who failed miserably for years. Until she decided to leave because people were probably upset with her performance and it made her cry or something.
    Ha.
