I really like hearing photographers who are passionate. I shoot for work but haven't had passion in a while. Thanks for sharing how it was emotional to sell the Zf

If you want to shoot raw video or if you want 4k120fps or 8k then the Z8 will make sense otherwise Z8 is pretty much useless for regular folks who just want to shoot photos and 1080p 10bit video.
I had a Z6 then i bought a Z8 because i wanted to experience the RAW video thing and guess what, i love it. I love everything about the Z8. Zf is also a great camera but for 1080p video. The autofocus and image quality is great on the Zf as well.

I wouldn't say useless but overkill sure :)

@@hidemaxwell its not overkill. Its actually a godsend gift for people who love to explore film making and color grading. Nikon Z8 is the perfect tool. No need of an external recorder, shoots raw video, has full frame 4k video. Excellent low light performance, decent dynamic range, superb colours. For professionals who will only shoot 10bit 4k or 1080p of course its overkill for them but for people who need something that can take them into the world of color grading then Z8 is their best bet.

As a sole ' Image ' taker I think the Z8 would be overkill for me. Not interested in video.
ZF has the same processor so image wise probably wouldnt notice a difference. Prefer also the ZF overall design. Nice vid 👌

Thanks and totally agree. If I didnt have video clients I'd MUCH rather own the ZF. Its so much more fun than the Z8.

@@silverstone6644 If you are photo only Nikon is the way to go. Way better photographic legacy, better color science and better overall lens catalogue if you include F mount. Nikon camera bodies are much better built than Sony as well. I used to own Sony cameras but I'm much happier in the Nikon universe.

Accordning to rumors, the Z6 III is near (they say 2-3 weeks).
I would wait a bit longer.

Yes, the Z8 is more useful but a lot more expensive.

Yeah, I never thought that a Z8 was in my budget, I lucked out on a pretty cheap one and these days people are selling used around 3000. At this point it doesnt make sense to buy a z6iii when you can get a Z8.

Right. The fair cool vs useful comparison would be "Should you buy two Nikon ZFs or a Z8?" :-)

So get it, and use it more to make that money back. Market 8k raw as part of your services. Market high speed photos as part of your services, or just use the camera specs to amazing results and then command a higher price. Just tell them your price and don't budge. You'll lose clients and that's a good thing, you don't want to deal with people that don't value your work. They'll make you miserable in a thousand little ways to waste you're time, ask you to accept less money, make you work harder than you should, etc. Big budget clients are far easier and less stressful to work for.

I currently have the Nikon Z8 and Z9, as well as the ZF, and I have to tell you, the camera I use the most is the ZF.
I sold my Z7 II to purchase the ZF. The First SLR that I owned back in the early 80's was a Nikon FM, unfortunately, at that time, I didn't know too much about photography, but I do remember that the camera took excellent pictures for a film camera. With the ZF, I feel I've learned a lot more from it as far as using the various Camera settings, as well as histograms, and how to properly use filters and other functions than I have from the Z8 and Z9.
With the ZF, I feel it gets the Photographer more involved with composing a picture, as well as getting users to switch to "Manual" Mode more often than relying on the other program modes. Of course this is only my opinion, and I would imagine, others would see things different, but to make a long story short, even with all it's limitations, the ZF is a very fun Camera, although I would have a hard time recommending it for Professional use. As a travel Camera, it's hands down one of the better cameras to use.

I think fuji speaks to people through it's film sims and the Nikon ZF speaks to people like you and me who have owned all metal film SLRs like the FM2 and in my case the F3. God I loved that F3, and the ZF makes me feel a similar way.
