Unbelievably quick wit. The chap is legendary. I loved the word panel phrase .... it blew Alan away, too.
Jess _ I’ve not heard that he’s stolen jokes. And is it not common for comedians to enlist the aid of other writers from time to time? E.g., Jim Gaffigan considers his wife a writing partner.
@@jess_5361 You think he'd steal jokes?
@@jess_5361 I've heard he's had jokes written for him, not necessarily stolen.
@@jess_5361 Now you're stealing jokes...
But I think what really sells that clip is Bill Bailey.
"Gentleman's special interest literature" I'm so gonna use that 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😂
Conception bay south is what I'm stealing 😂
Honestly, the word scramble part might be the absolute peak of Jimmys entire career, and possibly his life. Cannot be topped.
maybe by his tax return
It's the one time he shows his true intellect.
Jimmy's humour is legendary
Indeed it is. I've seen him live he's a friggin riot
So witty
How cool to see Stephen Fry and Jimmy Carr on the same show!
The Smarties Tube has got to be one of the best moments on QI of all time.
3:04 The Betty Ford Clinic is still there, on King Street East - But it's now called Betty's as the Clinic sent them a cease-and-desist
What a bunch of killjoys! I wonder if they'll now get one from Betty's in Harrogate? Hopefully, UK Betty's have the sense to realise people are unlikely to confuse a bar in Canada with a 100 year old tea-room in Yorkshire.
They should have re-named it to Gerald Ford's Wife's Clinic.
I suspect bees might also _fly_ better than dogs
True story, I recently had to undergo the same procedure that Jimmy described. After explaining the procedure and showing me the scope the doctor sat down beside me and started prepping and as he was doing so, he was saying to the two nurses present that he was shocked to find out that his drivers license expired a few months ago and his birthday was a few days ago and remarked that he thought licenses expired on your birthday, to which both nurses nodded in approval, and continued saying that he had be driving without a license for almost two months. Then as he prepared to insert the scope, I said "Wait ! What ! You're not licensed to drive that thing !? HELP !!!! At which point both nurses and the doctor burst out laughing. True story !
:D
Stephen Fry not understanding the first joke shows how polite he is.
That was the first time I’ve seen Jimmy not wearing a suit
Jimmy Carr laughs like an anime villain
Put smarties tubes on cats legs make them walk like a robot.
I wonder if it's legit
FinneousPJ1 only one way to find out.
@@rowanaboat4523 I mean I wonder if it was staged or not
FinneousPJ1 I doubt it that’s not QIs style.
He uses an M as a W so I don't think it's staged.
It's kinda unfair how funny Jimmy Carr is; It's not fair to other comedians that he can be so spontaneously, "unscriptedly" funny and it's not fair to other, _regular_ humans that he makes being uproariously funny seem so natural and so easy. It's enough to make a person want to turn to heroin, or alternatively, to consume even more heroin. Therefore, without any mention of fault or blame, I'm off to find more heroin... I mean "To find the 1st pile of heroin I've ever encountered"...
I like Jimmy but being spontaneously funny is liteally what every comedian has to be able to do. And a lot of em are really good at it. Look at Bill Burr or Gervavis
Dope 23 Lee Mack, Dara O’Braian (sp?) too. I think it’s fair to say that some comics are wicked quick and others excel in more scripted formats (but still have to be quick to handle a live audience).
The mummy joke always has me in stitches!
Mario Krušelj it was Stephen’s face when he heard Jimmys answer. Not a clue.
@@georgecaplin9075 A gay man wouldn't know a thing about reverse cowgirl anyways :)
This was not the video to watch while spouse is trying to sleep. I just about busted something trying to hold in the laughs.
Awh come on!! You’ve got to have his “we’re the rabbits cursed?” line from the segment about living solely off rabbits
I still think his comment about wife-beating is the best.
"Why would someone beat their wife? I mean it is YOUR wife! It would be like keying your own car!"
You missed his participation in the Great Acropolis Debacle (you know, the one where the Parthenon is), but I suppose that was a group effort.
-Sings- They say of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is
@@kirkskywalker1701 What do they say, what do they say?!
@@sanuspg that there are no straight lines!
@@kirkskywalker1701 Yaaay!
Jimmy is a legend
In the USA, New Orleans is pronounced, locally, as "Nawlins".
Baltimore to natives is "Balmer," here in my hometown we say "Buff'lo."
Bull. I've been told many times that it's "New Awlins."
@@tablesalt9129 nope, its definitely nawlins
QI; another great antidote to the news!
I can't even laugh at that anagram bit cause I'm too astounded. How the hell even?
They told him before the show what the letters would spell.
@@Newfie1956 Do you know that or are you deducing that?
If it's the part with "Put smarties tubes on cat's legs, make them walk like a robot.", him and Bill Bailey pooled their letters and made that sentence, so he cheated.(this doesn't make it any less amazing obviously.)
One of his stand up tours had a joke about it (I'm assuming before they recorded this episode) so that's where the phrase came from. He also used an M as a W so didn't have all the letters he needed. I imagine quite a bit of luck went into it
I'm pretty sure that standup came after that QI episode. In that episode, Jimmy has that kinda chubby face back from like 2002 or something. I think the joke in the standup special was referencing his QI appearance
Im gonna have to put smarties tubes on my cats legs now
I love the dry humor.
The ways Canadians say Toronto is the way Australians say Australia.....STRAYA!!!
Canadians also say Oddawah instead of Ottawa.
I bet Susie Dent was proud of Jimmy for the scrambled letter bit.
5:32 I love the part in Stephen's hair...
It's really cool to see Jimmy early in his career, where many of the guests on 8OO10C are now.
OMG. I'm an idiot. I've seen 8OO10C in titles here on YT, but only now I _finally_ got it.
Most of these clips were in the last 5 to 10 years.
That's exactly why we pronounce Toronto that way. The rest of the country is green with envy, or is it disgust? It's one of those two.
The Toronto south of Newcastle in New South Wales is pronounced "Tronno".
It's Canada. No one cares.
@@johnadams-wp2yb you did, enough to comment. Thats a win for Canada!
@@tannerrennat7786 You mean the ONLY win for Canada.
@@johnadams-wp2yb and the NBA championship, that makes it two wins for Canada! War of 1812 that makes 3! Yay Canada! Eh?
I like Jimmy a lot whens not being gross and his mental laugh cracks me up.
I wanna see Stephen Fry talk about Basil Rathbone!!!
When I was young I LOVED watching him play Sherlock Holmes. Havn't seen it in about 40 years or more. You just brought back a lot of memories for me.... cheers.
@@titmusspaultpaul5 His complete tenure is easily accessible on DVD. I have it myself.
@@philipmonihan8222 I think I will go online and order it.... thanks.
I think it was the episode about how many times Holmes and Watson "ejaculated".
You will have to watch it, or read the books. ; )
Besides making honey, now I'm going crazy--what DO bees do better than dogs? Sting? Fly? There's really little comparison, is there?
Love the British humor. (Sorry about the absence of the “u” - I am American, after all.)
U can't spell
U will pay for that.
It would be good to see the full clips!
I live in Newfoundland and I approve of this!
Hi Craig, me too. I'm on my break at the Health Science how are you?
So the obvious question is: how do *you* pronounce it?
Rhyme it with "Understand"
Years ago when I was prone on the table, ready to have delicate LASIK performed on my 👀 eyes, the 👁️ Dr said " very important,do not move, breathe naturally, don't move, look right at the light, look at the light." ......and I said,"hey,it's grandma!" .....the nurses went ballistic laughing, and doc said,r u crazy?! 😖🤨I'm holding a Lazer! ✌️
4:49 and thus did Jimmy solidify his role presenting 8oo10Cats Does Countdown
5:13 Jimmy is so different
Wow that was a quick 10 minutes
This clip needs an up-date from the episode 'Quiet' when Jimmy gets the klaxon for answering 'What's the most dangerous thing to do in bed?"
I"m only here for Jimmy Carr.
Jimmy never change.
That cat robot is idd un-*bleep*-ing believable
Lol Its Toronto, Jimmy got confused.
Alan makes all Carrs jokes better
Someone tell Jimmy that sounding is a legitimate kink XD
4:20 does anyone know what the real answer is here?
it's "jargon"
People from Toronto don't pronounce it “Trah no” or "Trahn o" or "Trah na". They pronounce it "Ter rah no". And as a side note, i've always called my "willie" a schlort.
**willy
Jimmy Carr looks out of place without a suit 😜😅 haha 😂
I'm grey at the temples. Didn't know it was a European 'thing'.
Here in Canada we call people from Newfoundland "Newfies". They've got the strangest dialect in our country. My old boss was from Newfoundland. Nicest guy you've ever met but I couldn't understand half of what he said.
It's Newfie anyway.
No as a Canadian you don’t get to tell me how it’s pronounced cause no one pronounces it as it’s spelt that incorrect I dispute this
That first one went right over my head...anyone care to explain that one to me?
gixxer83 The question was referring to Egyptian mummies, Jimmy was referring to mothers.
zDwarf right...tnx for that!
@@zDwarfYT I didn't get what the other guy said, the budgie one
So half time u have to study for the spiritual fight
The letters. omg.
The hostess talking about Newfoundland looks like the real life Mrs. Doubtfire.
That's cute I feel like I'm teaching kindergartens
Tbh, as a foreigner, that’s also how I thought “chav” would be pronounced
It would be great if that letters bit was genuine but since it's a line he's also said before I think it's very unlikely. It's so unlikely it's effectively impossible.
We get it
I once needed a Bladder examination, so I am laying there with a camera, (which feels like the diameter of a drainpipe), going where no man had gone before and I said to the surgeon, ''What can you see'' he replied, ''Oh it's quite pretty, here, have a look''. Let me tell you, there are few things in life less dignified than lying flat on your back, surrounded by young and pretty nurses, looking up your own willy!
I got to watch my tubes being tied. Innards are really funny when you're high.
NoofunLAND.
Seriously?
To distinguish it from NoofunSEA?
preoria?
Something had to come before oria.
PETA is pissed at that one! (The tubes on cats' legs.)
Chiropractor massage therapy I know how to fix my back by myself
Please DON'T try it on your neck
Surprised Jimmy's isn't called a "schlort".
did Bill Baily ever have hair?
Nuphoneland?
Just love that brain.
what does a bee do better than a dog? i need to know
Smell. It was a segment about using bees to detect drugs and explosives.
Bees sting but dogs bite
+F Pod
Bees do cocaine better than a dog. They make a direct bee-line for it.
Canines tend to use a dog-legged path so take longer to snort.
Free
Have u started runina
More like the Jimmy Carr show
Nah, mate ... It’s Australians who pronounce Toronto as “Trono”. Struth! (It’s the truth)
Newfoundland
The home a Gander, a town of 10,000 that housed 7,000 Americans on 9/11 when 137 planes had to get out of the air when American airspace was closed.
Operation Yellow Ribbon.
Except on the east coast not including Newfoundland, we talk normal. Just saying
Still cannot write English properly "we talk normal" lol
McHunt84 we talk normal is grammatically correct, good one though
The Fry-hosted episodes are so much funnier than the Toksvig ones
Rutina
"Peoria" love, not bloody "Preoria".
understand newfoundland
So -500 points
On purpose
Not to be mean but Jimmy was a bit chubby when he started out wasn't he...
Not chubby just had a rounder face really cute and young
He was pleasantly plump. I liked his cheeks. They looked squishy.
He felt the same way, that's why he lost the weight. Nothing mean about it, he's been very open about it and used to make a lot of jokes about his "fat face".
On one of his Top Gear appearances he himself commented that when he put on the crash helmet he looked like a fat kid stuck in a lift's doors.
Check him on big narstie they show a picture of him with a beard
And they are all paying God back
And they hurt me
Ur getting possessed by deamonds
The people that live there are called Nuefs
This is pretty much the same as the qi jimmy's best bits thing, whats the point of having the same thing on two channels?
Newfuvkland
I cant enjoy the perceived brilliance of Jimmy's letterboard because I know he stole/swapped letters with Bil.
Hater
And we are going to learn the whole cov 19 like a national anthem

neither of your pronunciations of Newfoundland are correct, but the lady in red got it just about right. ya gotta drop da "D" ! ha ha !
it is pronounced as if it were a verb; "to Newf; " newfen around... newfen-land,emphasis on the "newfen"
or it can flip... but always as a verb type sound
also, never call a Newfoundlander a "Newfie" unless you want a punch in the head. ( and to all the trolls out there.. send me your telephone number and address to set up a face to face meetup so i can make my point in person , i have the entire summer off and cash to spare )
What's black and blue and floats in the harbour? The last guy that called me a newfie.
