@@RockProductionsYT Incorrect. The siren was restored and is on display, but is not in functional condition. They attached a speaker to it that plays a 10/12 BN44E audio and used a motor to slowly rotate the siren around.
@Rockstarnerd 1957 no, that is the the one in the museum. I've talked to Dennis Kunkle himself from the museum. It was originally that yellow. They then painted it OD green and removed the engine house. You guys are talking about the same siren
@Rockstarnerd 1957 that was their goal, but their curators eventually settled on a cosmetic-only. I had a good couple phone conversations with them. Good people there
Omfg I never heard a real Gas powered Mobile directo be fired up before. I never even got to see one in a video bit oh boy here it is! hopefully you get it fully restored.
@matt makes machines I think I figured it out on the second run (which was unfilmed) the fuse was loose in the fuse holder for the main power circuit. It was much better after that
Great job working on this beast❤! Where did this siren go after the grede factory? Just curious. I have been trying to find out what this beast of nature looked like before you got it!
As far as we know, It was on top of the Grede Foundry from the time of its installation up to the time it was removed in 2006. I've been trying to find a good picture of it on the roof, but haven't found anything yet
@Kaiamations joe initially emailed me a few years after he acquired it after inquiring for help on ARS. 2010. I came and identified the rarity he had. He and I cultivated a real friendship besides the siren over the years. His health has declined, and he has too many projects he was working on. So Nov. 2022 he asked if I wanted to take custody of it, because he knows I'm a go-getter and would complete the restoration.
Soon, Need to get the trailer refurbished, so I can take it out to a farmer buddy's property to really give it a good workout. A couple of other higher priority projects need to get done in the shop before I do that though. I am currently waiting on new trailer tires. That is one key item.
Soon. Have to find a friend/neighbor that will let me have a rip on it on their property. Also need to replace the tires and repack the bearings on the trailer
Man just watching the progress getting closer and closer to being complete is flawless, keep it up dude!
It's complete now, just some final cosmetic details to finish
I think every man needs a gas powered siren. Gotta have some way to let the boys know when its time to show up at the man cave for some cold ones
This is so amazing! I'm really glad this project is almost done! So, this that they would sound like... very interesting!
Can't wait to get it outside. Will be neat to hear how it sounds there
Its great to see that you restored it, history has been preserved!
I would donate that thing to a museum!
Then it would never be run again 😞

Pretty amazing timing with his video. Didn't even see it until I posted this one
amazing!! really cool to see one of these running at full power
Beautiful!
After all these years of looking for an actual functional Gas Powered Directo, I have heard one.
Now you can die happy
Beautiful siren! Love the red color! It sounds very healthy!
Almost, as it has some bad pitch fluctuations. Other than that, it’s in great condition
“When is he gonna unmuffle that thing?” Was a question I asked myself today. Did not take long to get an answer.
I'm glad I had it muffled while I was getting the governor adjusted. This flat out rattled my cage uncorked, even with hearing protection
now thats what im talking about
YEAH!!! FULL POWER!!!!
It was so dang loud even with hearing protection.
@@JerryWick Oh wow.
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!! I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER SEE THIS!!!!

It's about 98% restored at the moment. Just some minor cosmetic details to work out
@@JerryWick Keep up the good work! Also I just looked back and noticed that "Mobil" was spelt mobile. Autocorrect.
Man thats cool
Wish they made these in 10/12 port.
now thats history!
Awesome siren👍
Can’t wait To hear it outside
Me too. Gonna make some nasty echos
@@JerryWick im excited for the outside result

On the July 4th, that puppy should get off a couple of rounds, outdoors, full blast. What do ya say? 😉
Planning on it!
Amazing. Just amazing.
AWESOME!!!!!
Bro Is saying BRRRRRRRRR BRRRRRRR
Hot damn it looks good
It sure does!
Is there a way you can show us the insane echoes
@Nicholas loves Elevators and vacuums soon. Gotta find a good place to really let it rip
Okay, I look forward to it. I’m planning to find a CLM one day
Hope this Mobil Directo gets a new life
This is its new life
It sounds like a lawn mower
Dude just has that in his house☠️☠️☠️☠️
No, it's my pole barn/shop. The guy in Germany is the one who has his BN44E in his house
Can this thing do attack on its own? or is there a remote start or something?
Manual Start. Remote control of the throttle only at this point. Wanted to keep it simple
@@JerryWick Thank you.
how are you controlling it?
Wireless rf relay. See one my recent shorts

The man who saved the siren before the building was demolished. He was an equipment operator for the demo crew
