- A few months have past since I took the final contest picture of my aquascaped aquarium. This is how the tank looks today in real time. I've heavily neglected this tank after the final photo was taken since I had so many things going on especially with the fish room build. I've battled a ton of hair algae and black beard algae growth as well as overgrowing stem plants ๐
Not an issue though as I've managed to get the tank back to somewhat decent looking with just a bit of algae here and there.
I'll be sadly taking this aquascape down in the upcoming weeks to prepare for next years contest :)

What would you do?
I canโt wait to re-scape this tank but I also kind of want to keep this scape going for the long run.
Use same plant and NA style, but build a new shape.
Kinda sad when you said that you will take this tank down since the tetras are already breeding here, i honestly want to see this tank keep going in the future
Keep it if possible.
Think about the fishes and plants.
They deserve the continuity.

Congratulations on your place in the contest. I think itโs sad that most of the tanks for the contest just get taken down so you can compete in next years contest. I try and check out the top 100 in the contest and they are amazing. I understand people striving to make something better each year, but think itโs sad all these amazing scapes get taken down so soon. Your scape is beautiful

haven't been active in the world of aqua scaping and shrimp keeping because im busy with school for months and im back now because my dog died and watching nature grow in a cube is just magical it really help me relax a bit.

Hi ..it's a beautiful tank..as always I love your videos and inspired ...I am starting up with CO2 in my tank and first day all my fishes started suffocating due to excess CO2 and now I am really afraid to start CO2 for a long time ..how much long should I keep and right now my tank is not densely planted ..as my plants never lasted much ..please can you give some idea ..I have chihoros RGB light..thks
As u have made diy CO2 in last cube aquarium and that CO2 bottle was single how to you manage those white scum like thing coming out of deffuser?
If you like the 4 foot tank that much, it is awesome, then leave it there and buy a whole new setup for the garage and next years contest. That is what I'd do. Lol... keep the good content coming

Yes, tenellus and glossostigma in my opinion is a great combination! I love it :)
Is that also known as Helanthium tenellum? And is it a certain color variety or just high light and co2 to get those colors?
@@SlickNick3 Iโm not exactly sure about that. Ada still names this plant as tenellus while Tropica has named theirs tenellum. I canโt tell you for sure but the ADA ones have thinner leaves and it turns red after some time with intense light. Ada also has a broad leaf tenellus which doesnโt get red

R those altumn angels? I think I have seen some black stripes on d body of the angels, albeit faded stripes

@@RyoWatanabee That's the good point. Actually, there isn't much info about Amapa angels. They are regional variant of P.scalare with some red of their backs, very similar to rio Negro variant which also has some red, but the ones I've seen were nowhere near Manacapuru in terms of red colour. I'm planning to make a video on all variants of P. scalare soon:)

Do all the fish swim in the thicker areas of planting as they seem to be congregating in the right side of the tank.? Thanks
When I do maintenance, all the tetras will go into the bushier areas and some will hide in the plants.

I would get a SAE to eat the bba, it worked.for me lol. I hate the chihiros app, it won't connect to my rgb vivid lights, i feel like giving up on it ๐
Why would you opt for a canister as opposed to a sump? Wouldn't that be easier for maintenance purposes? Or is it just preference
Because no one uses sump for planted tanks. Well not no one, but very few people. Only person I can think of is Corvus oscen. Iโd do a sump if someone would make me one, drill a hole in my tanks and do all the plumbing.

I think the angelfish are young redback Manacapuru or Amapa Angelfish? I don't have any angels but would like some. I just love that tank, Ryo. I wish you didn't have to take it down. Entering a community tank in the competition would be a bold choice...but I would love to see it! Go big or go home, right??!!
Yes! Youโre right, I bought them as Czech bred Manacapuru Redbacks but they could also be Amapas. Iโm not too sure though as Iโve never really heard of Amapas till recently. Not sure about the differences/similarities between them. Really hoping that they are manacapurus though ๐

Are you sure those reddish, small needle-like leaves in the background are Rotala H'ra Vietnam? They look so different from what I often see.
I never said Hโra.
I said Rotala vietnam. You can search it on Google. They are not the same :)
Rotala vietnam is similar to Rotala wallichii

Still one of the most beautiful scapes I have seen! Just wonder how you get away with two months no water change
Balance. All the plants remove nitrates from the water so I really donโt have to do any water changes if I didnโt want to. But itโs best to do water changes to keep them healthy
@@RyoWatanabee thanks for the honest opinion! Much appreciated! I have a tank with emerse plants which I think can goes with fewer water changes. But most of the forum posts I read are very adamant about water changes. So I am really afraid not to water change haha.

The variety of fish makes the tank pop in my opinion. Tank looks great. Algae is always gonna be hit and miss for sure.

Did u have any issues with green spot algae other than bba/staghorn??
A little bit of green spot on the glass but that gets cleaned off easily during maintenance with a sponge. I had otocinclus so they kept the leaves pretty free of green spot

You have decreased the bps of co2 to 1-2 bubbles compared to last video which was 8bps. Is it because you are dosing less/no ferts now?.

why don't you use a surface filter?
Because I feel that I donโt need it :) itโs just extra equipment sitting in the tank. And surface oil film can be removed with just a simple water change or placing a sheet of newspaper to absorb the oil on the surface of the water

my Eheim classic is still running silent after 15 years, fancy is nice but reliable consistency is better.
Yup, I have both Ada and eheim classic right now. Both work really well. Iโve noticed that my Eheim 2215 and 2217 is quieter than my superjet. Probably have some air stuck in my superjet but both are solid

Beautiful tank but aren't you concerned that the fish don't have that much swimming room due to the heavily planted tank ? I'm all for plants but I personally feel the fish need swimming room as well.
The fish have enough room. Otherwise the tetras wouldnโt be breeding in my tank. The angels might not have enough space but those fish will be moved out next week
