I was in a situation where I was in a bar and got jumped by 4 assailants. I was on the floor getting kicked and punched in the head. I had to use a pair of knives to defend myself. It was quite violent and I was able to stop their attacks and they left leaving me by myself inside the bar because everyone else had fled. The police arrived with their guns drawn on me. I was cuffed and seated on the floor. I told the police that I was jumped and I was defending myself. One of the cops said it was all caught on camera and it will show the truth. I was taken to the hospital where I was treated for my injuries. Three of the assailants were also taken to the same hospital with one of them in the ICU. Several police officers were at the hospital and I agreed to answer their questions. I don't recommend taking this response because I could have observed my right to remain silent. I was interagated for several hours by the police and they used different tactics to try and trip me up until with the aid of the surveillance footage It was shown that I was defending myself. It had a lot of difficulty trying to go back to living life with the post trauma of the event. I've never gone to a bar since.
Actually one of the responding officers that once he realized I had been jumped yelled at the other cops to remove my handcuffs. Then before I was released he apologized to me for drawing his gun on me. I told him it was understandable that he was responding to a call and was just doing his job. He was a good man.@@SteveAubrey1762
I was told when I was younger that if you carry a weapon sooner or later you will use that weapon. I have only had to draw my gun twice and thank God just its presence was enough. I have had to use a knife. I hope never again. The horrendous damage done by my blade still makes me shudder. Im 72 now. Soon getting married. Again. Ill have another reason to stay alert.
I've unfortunately been in this situation, and had to defend my actions in court. NEVER say, "I feared for my life". Fear is subjective feeling. And your judgement will be scrutinized in cross examination. Instead say, "My life was threatened". That is a statement of fact, not subject to your situational feelings and judgement. I know it's ridiculous. But every self defense case begins with the presumption of guilt. And you have to convince the judge and jury otherwise. Don't base your statements on "feelings".
@@411Outdoors 100%, brother. And I really appreciate you making these type of videos. There's a lot of folks who may find themselves in these unfirtunate situations. And sometimes these discussions are just as important as the tools. BRAVO! 👏🏻
Your way of looking at this is good No bullshit to the point . I'm from Australia and we don't have the right of self defence. And that means if I kill or maim someone who attacks me. Then I'm the one going to court . We must use equal force whatever that is. But one must deal with problems as they come . Threats first police after . Have a safe year my friend.
My other situation I received a phone call from my brother on Christmas eve stating he was robbed at gunpoint at the entrance of his apartment complex. Upon arriving he was bloody from being pistol whipped but alive. I looked all over for the suspects but were nowhere to be found
You are one of the most credible self-defense channels I have found. You speak the truth and reality. I will recommend your channel to others. I've heard some comments on CZcams of people discussing weapons and asking, "will it kill someone?" Probably, but having to take a life and wanting to are two different things. We should all hope that never has to happen. Most situations can be deescalated in most cases I think. Thank you for the topic it will give some wise advice to people who are probably walking afraid and just need some darn good sound advice. God bless you. 🙏🕊️✝️📖🇺🇲♥️👍
Ps, I've learned that having a lot of tattoos and piercings can make a attacker less inclined to victimized a person. So how you look and carry your self can be a passive self defense tool in the toolbox.
When you said being in a lethal self defense altercation will change my life forever, it reminded me of what my concealed carry instructor said as his opening comment on the first day of class. He said, "Once you complete this course, you will not be the same person you were before. This will change you forever." That shook me and he sure was right. It changed me to my core. And now that the world is so much darker than it ever was, keeping myself safe is always on my mind. I have a daughter in law enforcement, Chicago, Cook County jail. I so worry about her. The best thing we can do for ourselves and those we love is trust in the Lord for continual protection. Blessings to you and everyone subscribed to this channel. Life is hard, but God is good. He sees us THROUGH our valleys.
The world today is one scary place. When I think of the stupid things that I did in the’80s and ‘70s I’d be dead in this day and age if I behaved like I did then. Guaranteed. Great advice again!
I love your channel your content is spot on I like the way that you present the information. In my 61 years of life I have met only a couple of people like you you're definitely someone to look up to😊
There are some days when I just don’t want the burden and responsibilities of carrying my firearm. Where that feeling originates I’m not sure but it’s there and I listen to my gut. Most days, I’ll strap it on, chamber a round and go code yellow to orange while I’m out literally praying I won’t need it. I, too, am a member of USCCA and I feel better knowing I have backup. Thank you for reminding us of what reality may bring.
Thank you for sharing and reminding us that although we acted in a proper self defense situation the laws are actually not in our favor. The law actually favors the criminals, our system is geared in such a way that the government has the seat / angle in profiting from our lives. They truly have no concern for our lives nor families until money in their pocket pops up. You all stay safe and as 411 Outdoors LLC cautions us being ever so alert at all times.
I was close to a situation a couple of times. But thankfully it didn't escalate. I was getting up early in the am for work. A group of people were trying to breach my back door. I was armed on my side of the door they changed there mind and left and it was over without incident.
Appreciate your information that really makes sense. As bad and traumatic to take someone's life protecting you life and your loved ones, at the end of the day, it's still better to be the one explaining what happened than being the one lying down dead.
Great information. I see so many comments from keyboard warriors how they’re going to take out their opponent and that they’ll be found justified for doing so. It doesn’t work that way. Remember, anything you say can and WILL be used against you in a court of law. The cops who show up don’t care about you. Say as little as possible to them. Only answer questions with your attorney present. One last thing. Another CZcamsr recommended that you request being taken to the hospital yourself after a self defence incident. As you mentioned, you’re not okay. Even if you weren’t physically injured in the incident, you’re running on adrenaline and should be checked out.
This is an explanation of why we need a good attorney to defend us BEFORE AN INCIDENT OCCURS. When the courtroom opens up the JUDGE is the law and no one speaks until he OKs it... We stay quiet and listen to our attorney.
I also had a guy who wanted to kill me before this happened because of a situation that I should have never put myself in but after he heard what I done he respected me and we became friends. I was already a good friend with his cousin. Basically life is complicated in every situation and luckily I have not had to go through something like that again and I am happy. I still carry some equalizers but I try any other way out I think of before using any force. Talking my way out is a skill that I learned and use a lot more 😮.
Years ago, I caught two thieves trying to steal my car, one of them had a face-to-face confrontation with me during which they drew a knife and I watch them watch themselves go for the knife and then see me seeing them do it and then they made a choice not to do anything else. The real danger was his collaborator who was too far away for us to close distance if he had a firearm there were three of my roommates outside at the same time and all I could think about was how easily we would be picked off if the other person were armed, and the guy with the knife had no intention to really use it andeffectively they ran off, but it still cost me $500 to get my car reset and a two hour wait for law-enforcement to arrive. That said, we all got to enjoy our evening comparatively
I swear, the most traumatic part of defending yourself is probably what happens after the cops come and treat you like a criminal because you defended yourself from Tyrone from the hood. It’s shameful.
It is all about want you believe in..if you believe that a gun it is your right.. if you believe it is a knive..some believe that a stick.. just remenber.. Many Times no weapons avoided me going to jail..and word..word was the boss that keeped me out of serious troubles. So..what you feed you get back..
I forgot to mention also that many of the Cold Steel handles have very aggressive texturing on their grips that I remove the pocket clip and use some sandpaper to smooth down the scales where the pocket clip makes contact so it doesn't chew up your pockets.
Taking a life is a big deal, regardless if you had no choice in order to survive. Expect to feel very bad afterwards, but do not confuse this with guilt. Do not stay on 9/11 more than necessary. Another good video. Check ego is right on.
I don't do any modifications to any of my self defense weapons. Everything is factory, except for cleaning and sharpening. Even if the perp isn't seriously injured, my weapon is still going into the evidence box. Besides giving the prosecuting attorney more "ammo" to use against me by modifying my weapon, modifications cost money. Nice weapons have been "lost" in the evidence room many times.
Prior to it escalating to the point of physical altercations, speak in a loud tone "LEAVE ME ALONE", you want to get the attention of witnesses that can say you were trying to back off, de-escalate, and not allow it to get to the point of a shooting. Even better if they shoot video of you de-escalating and attempting to leave peacefully. If you are forced into a self defense situation, you may have video evidence the police can ask for or they can get on social media.
Some great advice. Incidentally, I've seen reports of USCCA leaving subscribers hanging for a variety of reasons/excuses. There are competing companies with actual criminal defense attorneys on call. Just sayin'.
