Thanks for sharing! That would be a big upgrade. I think you're right that Suunto is "catching up" but I don't think that's a bad thing. It's nice to see that they've been pushing firmware updates and supporting the older Suunto 9 peak as well!

I love this review a lot, you definitely set my mind at ease that I sold my Suunto 7 to upgrade to the 9 peak. I do find it funny that you said there is no music control, however if you hit the select button once it'll bring you to the media control center(maybe it was a later update I didn't know about). I upgraded watches for the fact of battery life and o2 sensor. I'm very satisfied in my purchase and you taught a few things I didn't know I could do with it(I've had it for about two months).
@@ChaseTheSummit I'm looking forward to checking out your videos on ice climbing. Most of my climbing has been in Montana and I'd love to see what it's like in the east. If you ever find yourself in Montana in the winter you should check out the Bozeman area.
Really love the design, would be the perfect size for my wrist as well. For the price, I really wish Suunto had shrunk the bezels to fit a larger display. Great review!
Thanks for the video! I'm looking to replace my old Amazfit Pace (ok, maybe not the same league) and this watch looks amazing. I'm a weekend runner and trail runner (more or less, rather less than more) so the features are just too many for what I need (but we'll, if they are in we can use them) and the watch really looks strong and resistant plus the size is great (maybe a bit bulky but still smaller and thinner than the Xiaomi). And the good thing is that the worse point is solved now, 2 years later, we can get this watch here in Spain for 250€. I'm going to go to buy it tomorrow before my holidays in the Alps start next week!
Thanks for a great review. I like where the Suunto logo is, it's really unique. I have the same size wrist and my Spartan WHR gives me the same problems with its size. Can't wear it to bed, gets caught on sleeves etc etc Also the battery drops 15% on a 5km run. It's showing its age now. I think I'll go for the Peak but that bezel around the screen is chunky and might take some getting use to.
@@ChaseTheSummit That's for me the biggest issue of this watch.... Mapping! And if it would have been on a 1,3' screen in would have bee the perfect watch indeed!
Great video as always mate. A great looking watch but I’ll stick with my Suunto 7 as my daily driver and my Coros as my main trail running watch. Swings and roundabouts as we say down here in Oz. 👍
I use Strava but this year with Covid and lockdowns I’ve eased up on recording everything in favour of just enjoying getting out biking or running. Having 2 bulging discs in my back has put a dent in my ambitions for now though! That Suunto 7 screen is pretty darn awesome though!
Great video! I love the look and build of this watch. That is my only complaint with the 945 lte. If only it had a better build quality similar to this one while maintaining the weight.
I've always said, if they could make a titanium 945 with sapphire I'd be a happy guy. The Fenix comes close but they definitely beef it up for the "rugged looks" that end up adding weight. The Suunto 9 Peak's form factor is actually perfect in my opinion. I only wish they pushed the boundaries a bit more in terms of new product innovation. Thanks for watching!
@@ChaseTheSummit I see a lot of reasons why the 945 is plastic and why it makes sense: 1/ differentiation with Fenix. You want a nice daily driver, you gotta pay the price; 2/ light weight and comfortable; 3/ many people use their Forerunner just for training and don't care about the looks (I am one of those who really care about the looks and find the 945 quite elegant for a sports watch).
Nice watch but not enough for me to give up on my beloved Fenix 6. This is a good direction for Suunto tho! Love your videos man, definitely my go to for fitness and sport related devices, keep it up 👍👌
I find very good, how better the wrist rate measurement improved! A good one SUUNTO! And the Wrist Rate measures of the SUUNTO 9 were not good at all, because of the big latency during accelerating or getting slower...
very useful video thanks. I compared the 43mm Peak face to the 50mm 9 face, side by side, and in most settings the letters and numerals were the same size, so ease of reading is similar despite a big difference in face size. One exception was heart rate numerals which were 5mm tall on the Peak and 7mm tall on the 9 so the 9 was definitely more readable, but only when you're not mid-Activity. Turns out it doesn't matter since when I'm riding or walking I only read the hr numbers from the Activity page anyway, which is the same page on the Peak and the 9. One Peak feature you forgot to compare to the premium Corus in the end of your video was size. You're right they have some similar features for the price except for that size, and if size matters then it's a big advantage to the Peak. That size also explains the battery duration difference since the large Corus has a lot more room for battery. It's amazing the battery duration they managed on this slim Peak. I don't use the white face feature since I think that uses more battery(?), at least when lighted, and an extra advantage is you never see the surrounding black bezel ring when the face is black.
Thanks for sharing. The size of the Apex Pro is certainly bigger than the Suunto 9 Peak but even the smaller COROS Apex that's 42mm is actually smaller than the Suunto 9 Peak and features way longer battery life. That said, the S9 Peak is still a nice option! Thanks for watching.
A little late to the party, but appreciate your review. Upgrading from an Ambit 2, which still works just fine and has been a really great piece. Honestly I am just fine with the Ambit 2 functionally but since Suunto did away with online Movescount it requires a computer to update and right now my only computer is a company computer that won't allow me to install the software. While pricey, the 9 peak is still cheaper than a new computer so....:)
Hi there, I am a former Suunto user (T3, long time, I know, grey hair etc..). Now i am using a Polar vantage v. I am interested in the Suunto 9 peak as it is high quality, europe designed and europe produced. It covers the basics and more really well and I am ready to pay some extra for good design and local economy. It also looks like a watch that you can wear in any circumstances. Please continue. I really appreciate your point of view (small wrist man) and I want to wear my running watch with a (grey) suit. Have fun
Great review as always Dave! If given the choice between the Suunto 9 Peak or the Polar Vantage V2 ... which would you choose? I'm interested in: Good sleep/recovery tracking Navigation Multisport - trail running, gym/CrossFit, etc Battery life that is passable (main reason I don't have a Suunto 7) Super accurate HR and daily activity metrics
Would you buy the Garmin Fenix 7 or the sunnto 9 peak seem to get more bang for your buck with the garmin.buy I be only had Suunto watches like your vids keep up the good work
Hi Dave and thanks for the nice review. I'm considering buying a 9 Peak as there is a good deal rn. @17:16 the heart rate of the Suunto looks much more accurate than the 945 LTE, doesn't it? cheers
Thanks for the review, very well done as always. I used to be a Suunto guy and loved their Ambits but changed to Garmin after horrible experience with Spartan Ultra. Suunto is great hardware company, but they are mediocre when it comes to software. The firmware in their watches is too often like a buggy beta version and their mobile app is not much better. The web portal is now not existing at all. I was thinking about buying the Peak but yet again there are some glitches that make me stay with my Fenix 6 Pro. For example the fact that only one external sensor per category can be saved in the Peak's setting is just mind blowing. I don't want to be re-connecting the powermeters anytime I change my bikes.
@@ChaseTheSummit The App is okay or good, but why don't having let the Web Interface on PC run further??? I don't understand. On the PC, you could have a average value calculation on a part of your track very easy. It is no more possible on the app. Why? SUUNTO made a bad move.
I agree with your criticism. Between suunto 9 and peak are 3 years but only the design is the difference (and oxygen sensor) - what a shame. I am suunto fan, but I am not going to buy a new one until they come with something up to date.
I had the same experience with Garmin. After three of their watches I switched to Suunto. Granted, I don’t use all the fancy features, just try not to die on a mountain 😉
Been waiting for this review! YES! I've got the Suunto 9 Baro and LOVE it, but it is a bit big, though no bigger than other brand's premium GPS watches from 2-3 years ago (when I bought my watch). I would love to buy the Peak, but can't justify the price, particularly since my Baro is working just fine.
Yeah dude! The Baro and Peak are so similar it's definitely not worth a side-grade and it's good to see that Suunto is still updating the original 9's firmware. If you plug in over USB you'll get a lot of the software that the 9 peak got for free including the "snap to route" feature which is great. I'd say wait until the next iteration and see if Suunto brings something entirely new to the game (I hope they do!) Thanks for watching!
Hi Chase! Great video, thank you! I'm a Suunto fan for the reliability and performance of their watches. As a trail runner, I'd appreciate to have maps on my watch tough. Do you know if Suunto have plans to add maps to the outdoor watch range anytime soon? Fenix 7 are just out with maps+touch screen, very tempting...
Great review ! Is the workout programming (intervals) as intuitive and simple as with Garmin watches ? For example, schedule a complete workout with a duration for warm-up + intervals with a distance and a pace target ? Garmin watches have a specific screen during intervals (with the pace depending on the goal), is it the same with this Suunto ? 😄
Great review. Nailed it. Ray said it only samples heart rate at 10 minute intervals? Or did I miss-read? Not sure how the HRV/Resources get properly calculated at that rate.
I'm actually not sure what the all-day HR recording interval is and I don't see it documented anywhere. From my experience it seemed real-time and I noticed that the LED's were flashing whenever I looked under the watch so I assumed it was 1-second. I'll reach out to Suunto for clarity on that. thanks for watching Hunter!
@@ChaseTheSummit Yeah, when I asked Suunto they said it's on their longer term list to actually record the data. It's not recorded today largely as a legacy artifact from the previous sensor that had to be turned on/off every 10 mins. With the new one it's always on, but just is basically discarding the data on the backend.
@@Dcrainmaker Weird. you'd think they'd turn off the LED's to squeeze out a bit more battery life in standby mode. I wonder how that plays into "body resources" if most of the data isn't there.
Have been using S9B since August 2019. As everyone else is saying: quality and reliability is top. Hardware is not fully integrated, example is the screen which although has high resolution, it looks and feels very obsolete. Software is stable but UI is less than intriguing, lacks freshness and interactivity. The overall feeling for the Peak is that it is one of the same in both goods and bads.
Thank you for making always informative video! Would you recommend the Suunto 9 peak or it is worth to spend more for a Fenix6s pro? I started doing hiking and trail running and my Vivoactive 4 doesn't cover my needs. I wanted 945LTE for new sensors/features but doesn't look something I could wear in a formal setting. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Congratulations! Your videos are great! The Route you created in the App and then synced to Suunto 9 Peak in 14:12 video, did you need to use Suuntolink on your computer? I ask because I have a Suunto Traverse Alpha, and the route transfer does not happen via bluetooth, only via Suuntolink on the computer using the USB cable. If you can help me, thanks!
I think this comes late, but the route sync is being done via Bluetooth, no need a cable for that. Even the software update is done wireless for Suunto 9 Peak. The only cable you need is for charging.
Nice videos. Easy and simple to follow. I love Suuntos, have one and that new Peak looks amazing. BUT, to be, perfect size would be around 47mm. Really like the simple ecosystem. Makes sense to me. Will I get another one, and maybe a Peak? Most likely, but a “47mm” version. 😂😎
agree that I might have prefered 44mm or 45mm but then I compared numerals and letters on the face side-by-side with the Suunto 9 at 50mm face, and in almost all cases it was the same sizes numbers and letters and same display of information. So a larger face might provide more to see, or easier to see, but probably not if Suunto made it ;-)
Great review! Just one question, when using the watch during activities, do you need to have your phone with you to sync all data or is the watch storing information that you later sync to your phone as Strava etc?, Should be smooth if you could leave the phone when you're out bicycling / running. I hope you can answer my question. :)
so number one issue: in it's core, it is a 3-years-old watch! not much has changed since the original Suunto 9. number two: this is a harsh price point but wow! it is a real beauty!
Yep, the price is a little steep but the build quality is really impressive. It feels like a time piece that will last a while. I wish they pushed the innovation juuusssst a bit further though!
I was able to pick up a used Peak 9 for less than half price, so revisited your great video to get an overview before it arrives. Everyone needs a spare GPS watch, right?
do you think they will modify this watch in the near future? such as adding a microphone/speaker? or increasing the size of the watch face within the existing size i.e. reducing the bezel (I believe the black part in the screen is called) thanks
I have used a Suunto Spartan Wrist hr for the last 4 years now. Build quality is excellent but the battery life on my unit is starting to decline. Wished the display on the Suunto 9 Peak was a bit bigger. Never really liked the Garmins but tempted to test out Coros apex pro. The upsides with Suunto is the already mentioned build quality, simplicity of the app and watch, really reliable. I am also using the route builder a lot, really great much better than Strava for example. But... Suunto don't have structured intervalls which is a bit of a downside (and strange...) Do coros have structured intervalls? And how is the route builder in comparison? Thanks for a great channel.
Hi Chase the Summit! Can you recommend a rugged HRM watch with music? All I need is to lose weight and watch to beep at me when not in zone. Also music and rugged. I'm a big dude 6'6" 275. and would like to get to 220 again. Thanks!
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks. I've broken 2 apples just as wearables not even working out. They are far from rugged. I was afraid I'd have to spend for the fenix based on rugged plus music even though I won't use but 5% of features. Sad they don't have music on the instinct. Would be perfect. Anyway thanks again...subbed!
Hello that was Great review - I am thinking of buying one - I believe that music control has now been added to the watch - probably in an update after your review - could you please let me know if it can now control my music on my iPhone?
Good watch, satisfied, just instead of titanium version I would sugest to wait for Swarovski edition . Could be words with bigger fonts, my +2 all weather protective googles cant handle those tiny texts. Charging avessome, you plug smoke a joint and cigarette and you ready to rock. VEry comfortable.
Buying a new watch in the end of October but the battery life on this is probably pointing me in another direction... Not having to charge everything all the time is liberating.
Well the Suunto has no features that compare to FitSpark or Nightly Recharge other than "Body Resources" which may or may not be useful to you. If you're looking for those specific functions the Polar might be the way to go.
@@ChaseTheSummit dear Highly respected chase the summit, if Garmin not come soon as possible with the fenix 7 with good updates people will go for the other options in the market. I do not understand what garmin, gopro, is doing right now it is holiday time and the best time to sell gadgets
I have a daughter with a shunt that is effected by magnets. Can you please let me know if the Suunto 9 Peak watch, itself, has magnets? I am aware that the charger has magnets. I appreciate your help.
It doesn't seem like it but I don't know for sure. When I hold small metal objects up to the watch they don't seem to be attracted but I'd assume there's probably a minimal magnetic field from being attached to the cradle (which is definitely magnetic). Hope that helps.
I am a sprinter using the Spartan, and find that if I do shorter faster sprints (at full speed), the distance measurement can be out by as much as 20%, depending on the speed and distance. As example, on my 150’s at full pace the distance shows 130m runs. On a 120m at full speed the distance goes down to 90 and sometimes even 80m… Is anyone on this blog a sprinter that uses the Peak, and how do you find the GPS, because from the review it sounds that with the GPS setting of 1s intervals on the Peak, the problem that I have with my Spartan might be something of the past…?
hallo my friend I want to buy a sports watch and I am between two in the sunnto 9 the simple and the Garmin forerunner 935 which is better to buy in your opinion and why
I'm really late to the party, but I'm looking at getting a new watch and your reviews are amazing. I am currently using the Suunto Spartan WHR. The two watches that are on my radar are the Garmin forerunner 745 and the Suunto 9 peak. I love the mountains, hiking and trail running, as well as swimming, gymming and a few sports. What would you recommend?
I think both the 745 and S9P would do the job. However, if you're into outdoor sports like hiking in the mountains I might suggest looking for a used Fenix 6 Pro (or on sale). Mainly because you can find them VERY cheap right now and the Fenix 6 Pro will offer full on mapping capabilities. If you didn't NEED mapping the S9P might be a better outdoor oriented watch than the 745. Hope that helps!
a question my friend I want to buy a watch for running and cycling and I am among three in the coros apex Pro in the Garmin fenix 6 and in the suunto baro 9 most suggest me for purchase thank you
Value of this watch came down quick. I have it for 8 months now a it is solid watch that does all that is made for .... but I wish I bought Garmin instead. If you're spending this much money buy Garmin with much more features.
First of all, awesome Video - thanks for that. I got the Suunto 9 Peak for about one week now and I agree with your points regarding build quality. What i do not like: - The watch is quite slow, it takes up to 3s to update some certain screens - The watches UX experience is very bad but i like the app I will try now the Garmin Fenix 6s Pro because of the preinstalled maps and if the battery is okay the the UI/UX design feels better, I will swap... Glad it was helpful! Yes, the music controls came in a later firmware update. At the time of this recording they weren’t there.
For sure, a 1.3" display would have looked much nicer on this watch!
This is not a silly CZcams channel, thanks for the review
It can certainly feel that way when I'm talking to myself about a watch for an hour lol!
I was honestly a little worried Suunto was dead. Great video as always!
Not dead yet! Though, I do wish they pushed the envelope a liiiiiittttttle bit further! Thanks for watching Matt!
I have a baro 9 since it came out and im very happy with it. I didnt see somthing that will make me upgrade to 9 peak. The app is excellent.
They're so similar that there's no point to upgrading unless you hate the size of the S9 Baro. Thanks for watching!
A thinner bezel would have certainly been nice to see!
I had the Ambit 3, currently use the Spartan Ultra, definitely considering this 9 Peak as an upgrade.
Nice!
Great video, very well structured. Looking for the comparison with Fenix 6S and 945 lte . The S9P is between this two...sapphire...but lighter...
Thanks! If it only had maps like the 6s and 945 it would be a real winner!
Nice combo! But how do you aggregate the data? Strava?
I use Strava but this year with Covid and lockdowns I’ve eased up on recording everything in favour of just enjoying getting out biking or running. Having 2 bulging discs in my back has put a dent in my ambitions for now though! That Suunto 7 screen is pretty darn awesome though!
I like the new hat!
Thanks! I love it!
New CTS hat just arrived in the mail box!
Yassss! Hope you like it!
@@ChaseTheSummit new colors are awesome. Will be wearing it during the Tushars Mountain 70k in Utah next weekend
@@ChaseTheSummit yep! That may be the perfect watch.
Good review!
Nice watch but not enough for me to give up on my beloved Fenix 6. This is a good direction for Suunto tho! Love your videos man, definitely my go to for fitness and sport related devices, keep it up 👍👌
Fenix 6 is hard to beat! Thanks for watching!
Same, but it's nice to see Suunto getting close. Good competition in the sector makes everyone raise their game.
S9p has better gps accuracy than fenix 6
@@szymonjarzabek8128 I've never had any real issues with my Fenix. But then I'm lucky I run in wide open rural spaces.
I find very good, how better the wrist rate measurement improved! A good one SUUNTO! And the Wrist Rate measures of the SUUNTO 9 were not good at all, because of the big latency during accelerating or getting slower...
It's a nice upgrade for sure.
Thank you for video. It give me an ideea about the suunto peak.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello mate very detailed review
Hey, thanks!
very useful video thanks.
Begging will bring you the exhaust. Yes, the exhaust!
Hmm?
A little late to the party, but appreciate your review. Upgrading from an Ambit 2, which still works just fine and has been a really great piece. Honestly I am just fine with the Ambit 2 functionally but since Suunto did away with online Movescount it requires a computer to update and right now my only computer is a company computer that won't allow me to install the software. While pricey, the 9 peak is still cheaper than a new computer so....:)
Thanks! Yup, and a new computer isn't very motivating to stay in shape 😉
Hi there,
I am a former Suunto user (T3, long time, I know, grey hair etc..).
Have fun
Thanks for sharing! The S9 Peak is a great watch. It's nice to see something that doesn't say "Made in China" on the back for a change!
Great review as always Dave!
If given the choice between the Suunto 9 Peak or the Polar Vantage V2 ... which would you choose?
I'm interested in:
Good sleep/recovery tracking
Navigation
Multisport - trail running, gym/CrossFit, etc
Battery life that is passable (main reason I don't have a Suunto 7)
Super accurate HR and daily activity metrics
If navigation is important to you I'd lean towards Suunto as Polar's implementation leaves a lot to be desired.
Would you buy the Garmin Fenix 7 or the sunnto 9 peak seem to get more bang for your buck with the garmin.buy I be only had Suunto watches like your vids keep up the good work
Hey, It will be very very intrestin to see it vs' the Fenix6... hey! That can be a cool video!!! 😎💪
thanks for the suggestion. that might come soon!
Thank you. I bought it.
Hope you enjoy it!
Hi Dave and thanks for the nice review. I'm considering buying a 9 Peak as there is a good deal rn. @17:16 the heart rate of the Suunto looks much more accurate than the 945 LTE, doesn't it? cheers
Sunnto's are the best watches period and yes I will purchase this new upgrade.
Sounds like you've found what works for you!
The web portal going away was a strange move by Suunto but I actually kind of like the App... though it can be a little limiting. Thanks for sharing.
For that price I expect offline maps, but navigation is obviously on the level of a Fenix 3 (Fenix 1 already had basic maps and navigation in 2012)!
It would be nice. Thanks for watching.
Also, nice hat ;-)
Tour mode would be good for a mountain hunting expedition
I'd be surprised if Suunto added real mapping.
@@ChaseTheSummit They're really lagging behind now with other brands having already integrated real mapping 😅 Fingers crossed for 2022!
Thanks for the review, will you post a review about the new suunto 5 peak?
It's on my to-do list. Unfortunately, Suunto doesn't include me in early release stuff even though I've asked! Thanks for watching!
It's pretty straight forward but a bit easier on Garmin in my opinion.
Great💪 Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks 😊
You're welcome!
Great video! I like your cap, where did you get it?
Unfortunately we're sold out of this one but I have others at www.chasethesummit.com!
For 24x7 it’s at 10-min intervals, for workouts it’s the standard issue 1-second intervals.
@@Dcrainmaker That's interesting. I noticed the LED's were on 24/7 whenever I looked so I assumed 1-second. Thanks for shedding light on that.
I wanna buy this model just because of the design. Fock other features and its accuracy because it's soooo slick to my eyes
It's a pretty watch!
Thanks for sharing.
No scratchers on the sapphire glas: my Ambit 3 from 2013 has not any scratch on it. A wonder and I love it!
Sapphire is so good!
I luckily got suunto 7 from recent discounts. 9 is too darn expensive even then 😂
Still a great watch!
I've got a whole video comparing the S9 Peak to the fenix 6s. Stay tuned!
@@ChaseTheSummit Fantastic! Thank you
Congratulations!
Thanks for sharing. Size is certainly subjective. It would be cool if there was a middle ground with maybe more battery life? 🤔
agree that I might have prefered 44mm or 45mm but then I compared numerals and letters on the face side-by-side with the Suunto 9 at 50mm face, and in almost all cases it was the same sizes numbers and letters and same display of information. So a larger face might provide more to see, or easier to see, but probably not if Suunto made it ;-)
A comparison between Suunto 9 Peak and Garmin Fenix 6S would be nice.
I just did that... Check my channel 😉
Great review! Just one question, when using the watch during activities, do you need to have your phone with you to sync all data or is the watch storing information that you later sync to your phone as Strava etc?, Should be smooth if you could leave the phone when you're out bicycling / running. I hope you can answer my question. :)
The watch stores the data until you can sync. You don't need your phone on you at all.
Great helpful video.. does this have multi alarms.. or just one. And how strong are the vibrations?
You can set repeating alarms, alarms on certain days of the week, and adaptive alarms that will vary based on sunrise and sunset. Hope that helps!
so number one issue: in it's core, it is a 3-years-old watch! not much has changed since the original Suunto 9.
number two: this is a harsh price point
but wow! it is a real beauty!
Yep, the price is a little steep but the build quality is really impressive. It feels like a time piece that will last a while. I wish they pushed the innovation juuusssst a bit further though!
To be fair, even Garmins haven’t changed much “inside” in years.
I was able to pick up a used Peak 9 for less than half price, so revisited your great video to get an overview before it arrives. Everyone needs a spare GPS watch, right?
Nice! That's a great deal!
@@ChaseTheSummit Hi Dave. I’ve had the Peak for a few days now, and your video comments are spot on. You nailed the strengths and weaknesses well.
Looking to upgrade from my Suunto 5, cant decide , I watch that I can change my straps on because my 5's strap holders are ripping
The 9 Peak would be a nice upgrade if you like the Suunto app/ecosystem.
do you think they will modify this watch in the near future? such as adding a microphone/speaker? or increasing the size of the watch face within the existing size i.e. reducing the bezel (I believe the black part in the screen is called) thanks
I'd be surprised if they added a mic/speaker but I could see them updating the hardware at some point. When? It's hard to say.
For you whic is the best smartwatch in the market ?
Thanks
Do you review soon the new 9 Peak Pro? Thanks!
It’s coming!
But... Suunto don't have structured intervalls which is a bit of a downside (and strange...)
Do coros have structured intervalls? And how is the route builder in comparison?
Thanks for a great channel.
Saw now that it maybe has the same display size as coros apex pro (?), looked smaller due to the bezels.
Unfortunately COROS does not have an integrated route builder in the app. You're kind of on your own to find an app to build routes like "Gaia GPS"
@@ChaseTheSummit That's a shame, Suunto seems to be ahead in at least one area then. Maybe need to rethink about Garmin. Thanks!
Hi Chase the Summit! Can you recommend a rugged HRM watch with music? All I need is to lose weight and watch to beep at me when not in zone. Also music and rugged. I'm a big dude 6'6" 275. and would like to get to 220 again. Thanks!
Depends on your budget. A few options come to mind. The Apple Watch Series 6, Suunto 7, and Garmin Fenix 6 Pro are all great and offer Music and HRM.
Also check out how it integrates with Fatmap - I have just tested this out on my suunto ambit 3 and i think it works really well👍
Music controls indeed have been added. I have a follow up video coming this week!
You are a CZcamsr who gets more than 8 hours sleep. Teach us, oh wise one!
This was before I had a 4th kid lol.
I had no idea a Swarovski version was coming. Sounds expensive!
Buying a new watch in the end of October but the battery life on this is probably pointing me in another direction... Not having to charge everything all the time is liberating.
For sure! And with the market the way it is right now it's not hard to find a watch that will go for 2+ weeks on a charge. Thanks for watching!
I'm looking to buy this or polar V2 , which do you think it's better in terms of firspark and nightly recharge comparison with Suunto? Thanks
Well the Suunto has no features that compare to FitSpark or Nightly Recharge other than "Body Resources" which may or may not be useful to you. If you're looking for those specific functions the Polar might be the way to go.
Hey dave, do you know when the fenix 7 releas day is aexpected?
Your guess is as good as mine.

On a 120m at full speed the distance goes down to 90 and sometimes even 80m…
Is anyone on this blog a sprinter that uses the Peak, and how do you find the GPS, because from the review it sounds that with the GPS setting of 1s intervals on the Peak, the problem that I have with my Spartan might be something of the past…?
Do you typically sprint on a track? If so, you might want to try a brand like Coros or Garmin that have a "Track Mode" as they are super accurate.
I'm torn between this and the Garmin Fenix 7. Thoughts?
Fenix 7 has a lot more features but it's more expensive. I'll be reviewing the Suunto 9 Peak Pro soon! Stay tuned.
hallo my friend I want to buy a sports watch and I am between two in the sunnto 9 the simple and the Garmin forerunner 935 which is better to buy in your opinion and why
They're pretty similar. The 935 will give you more smartwatch functions and training tools. The Suunto 9 has a better navigation interface.
Are you going to test the 9PP ? 😄
Coming soon.
a question my friend I want to buy a watch for running and cycling and I am among three in the coros apex Pro in the Garmin fenix 6 and in the suunto baro 9 most suggest me for purchase thank you
Out of those 3 I'd probably go for the Apex Pro.
Value of this watch came down quick. I have it for 8 months now a it is solid watch that does all that is made for .... but I wish I bought Garmin instead. If you're spending this much money buy Garmin with much more features.
Garmin certainly hold their value longer. The S9 Peak is still a great watch though!
First of all, awesome Video - thanks for that.
I got the Suunto 9 Peak for about one week now and I agree with your points regarding build quality.
What i do not like:
- The watch is quite slow, it takes up to 3s to update some certain screens
- The watches UX experience is very bad but i like the app
I will try now the Garmin Fenix 6s Pro because of the preinstalled maps and if the battery is okay the the UI/UX design feels better, I will swap...
Greetings from Munich.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the watch. I think you'll find the Garmin to be more responsive.
