Ah Michelle what a beautiful blouse. I have never made a blouse yet but after seeing your tutorial you’ve made me think maybe I could do that. The fit is perfect and you’re right, the cuff detail just adds that extra flare to make it stand out. I also liked the way you showed us how to trace the grading. I never thought to do it that way. It makes sense to overlay the pieces together. Loved the appearance of Bentley. It wouldn’t be a sewing bunny video without him. ❤️😻

I’m not a newbie sewist, but I just love your channel. Learnt from this video I can hold down my fabric with washers and still cut with a pair of scissors, even marvelled when you oriented the scissors towards you to cut 👍. I have always used pins with scissors, and washers with rotary cutters. Thanks.

The facing attachment at the collar (minute mark 52) was so frustrating and I see why now, I wasn't clipping into the fabric to the stay stitching on the neck and easing in the facing band. Thanks for your close-up and clear instructions.
The final product was so good. I think your tweaks for fit were perfect, and the entire top looked so professional. Thank you for sharing your work.

You did great! This turned out so cute and fits so well. That collar isn't for the faint of heart. It's very fiddly and can be confusing, but kudos for unpicking to get it perfect. Kudos also for realizing you needed to put the cuffs on the cross grain to have the bunnies going in the correct direction. I'm not sure I'd have caught that till too late. One of my biggest pet peeves is when the pattern doesn't have the finished measurements. What I do is measure each piece seam line to seam line and add them together. Then I can decide if I need more or less ease. But we shouldn't have to do that! One other tip. I never use my free arm. What you can do is turn the sleeve inside out then topstich on the right side around the cuff..the right side is now inside the sleeve. Hope that makes sense...I'm sure there's a you tube video that might explain it better.
Anyway this is a beautiful shirt and looks so cute on you. 💕

I am so glad I found your video! I decided to take up sewing again after a 20+ year hiatus and I’ve got all the gear but no idea! As the pattern said “easy”, I figured it was a good one to restart with. However, once I got to the collar, I was lost - then I found your video. Thank you! I’m still not finished (I’m about halfway through) but I’m now more confident that I might actually finish the project. I’ve subscribed and looking forward to getting better and better. Thank you! I’ve finally finished it today, although I think I’ve sewn the sleeves on the wrong way round 😫 Chambray is not a good fabric for an almost-beginner, there’s no right side / wrong side! I’m just pleased that I saw it through to completion, rather than abandon it.

I really like your sew alongs. You let us know all the issues you run into, and persevere and solve them. I always have trouble with shirt collars; it seems like each pattern has you do it slightly differently, doesn't it? I think the instructions on the Helen's Closet Gilbert Top are my favorite, but , of course, that one has a yoke.Your shirt is adorable, and quite smart looking. You did a great job on it. Thanks for sharing your sewing journey!
I love the Gilbert shirt too I didn’t get stuck at all on Helens instructions which was brilliant! But yeah every shirt style I have tried seems to be different and so I do get nervous when it comes to collars too. Thanks so much for watching it is much appreciated 🥰 x

I've made this blouse once before this time with cuffs it's not easy to top stitch around cuff but managed it. Neck is always a problem you made it look easy. 😊 thanx

Yeah it’s an odd one as I think easy is the wrong wording, it’s easy as a shirt goes if you are wanting to make a shirt but marking it as easy I think is misleading especially for beginners, if I tried this as an early project I would of given up straight away 😂 x

Yeah these patterns are not very user friendly, it takes a while to get used to and even after seeing for a few years now they still confuse me 🤣
