- An interesting conversation with a woman that spells it out. A pleasure to speak to about Detroit. And believe it or not, she's a subscriber.
Angel developed an early addition to prescription drugs. This started using around 2010. The father of her children went to prison around the same time. Some of her children stay with her father and others went to foster care. Angel was HIV positive. There was another man in her life for a while that is suspected of providing drugs to her. It was verified Angel was truthful about her abusive childhood. Her mother died from kidney failure from alcohol abuse. Angel's body is still at the morgue. No funeral arrangements have been made. Angel was found in an apartment hallway on Campbell St with a needle in arm. Presumably, she died from a heroin overdose. She did have a brother in Detroit that has moved as a result of depression. Her death is considered an unsolved homicide. This has not been verified. I'm in the process of getting an address in case anyone wanted to donate to her children. Thank you.

Everything starts with family, it's very important to our lives in many aspects.
I was taken away, legally kidnapped in my opinion, by the state of Iowa with my siblings at age 13. Sexual abuse in the first home, I was called a liar. Worst though was bc they didn't believe me about him, my little sister was sexually abused by him within a month after I was removed. They wouldn't allow us any contact afterwards. Her case was founded but I didn't find out until I was 18 from my mom. Also I read a copy of the letter sent to the foster/adoptive parents about it, completely minimalized it & told them it would blow over in 6 months & they'd get their license back. 3-4 years later a foster mom who was very psychologically abusive to me for 2 years told me once that it was in my file that my loyalty to my family was a "problem".

My mother... Was an educated, intelligent, beautiful, black woman. This was her life as well. In 1994, on the job... she either jumped, or was pushed from a car on the freeway, was hit by another car and died. I was 10. This breaks my heart that Angel died...her poor children. I want to help these women so badly. Thank you for portraying these women as the beautiful people they are. ♥️

Assuming they took her from her mom for drug or prison related reasons, they give her to a foster home and she’s obviously a smart girl so she decides to leave. She said they’ve locked her up for going AWOL at foster homes so what was she supposed to do? Her mother failed her and it just sucks she didn’t have any other family to take care of her
Why blame the system when she's the one who committed crimes and made her own choices? As far as I'm concerned the system did a great job of keeping the rest of the population safe from a criminal, it's not their job to fix her entire life for her. if anything her family is the one who failed her

This woman is an asset to society. I could imagine the woman she would become if she was educated in school. Street education is one of the best, it teaches how to survive. I can't speak about in Britain .. but in Baltimore (Maryland homes) things are way different. I've been in several group homes, foster homes, and ALOT of things go on in these places. (from the age of 12 until 17) Some good, but mostly bad, with no real regulating in place. The system is in need of ONE BIG overhaul.. rape, the foster parents own children, family friends; not getting the money issued to you to actually support you. (they take it and give you a little if anything) i remember one time in Arbutus MD. ( the furthest away i'd been in the system) there was a group home and they all looked like cottages where jason lived... to me anyway.. well that's how i learned to swim.. the dad (whom we all had to call PA (paw) made us get into the swimming pool at 5:30 am EVERY MORNING whether we could swim or not. we had to go from one end of the pool and make it to the other the best way we knew how..in hindsight i think it was to really get our blood going so we could do our chores... (in any weather mind you...) having my clothes stolen, the fighting that went on, the drama... it wasn't all good trust me... I'd like to give more details if you'd like to hear, (i'm just at work at the moment)

I’ve started binge watching your videos since I randomly came across your channel a couple of days ago. Something about this woman hit home. Her intelligence and honesty could have taken her far. I am not an addict, but my absent father ODed on heroin when I was 8 and my mother has been a meth addict since she was 14. I grew up raising my younger siblings until we were placed in foster care permanently when I was 10. I learned early on that what my mother was doing, was not what what I wanted in my life. I forgave my mother years ago, almost selfishly, because I had to in order to let go of my anger and resentment that was destroying my soul. Your videos have helped me understand her a little deeper than I already did.
Thank you for all that you do. Not only do you give a voice to those that are normally ignored by society, you also help facilitate help for them, and help those of us that have been hurt by them to understand the depths of their despair so we can learn to not take it so personally. You are a true gem Tom.

I was homeless as a 14 year old runaway for two years. Here is the main thing anyone needs to know IF they wish to help "Street Folk", never trust a word they say, know you are being lied to in some degree, A.K.A. manipulated. Manipulation is the KEY to SURVIVAL for street folk, not just to get a few dollars out of your pocket, but in some cases to save their life from crazy people that would take advantage of them, harm them, etc. Don't feel hostility towards them for being master manipulators, they do it to one another as well, it's not personal.
IF one decides to do something, help a street folk, expect nothing and hope for the best! I would NOT be where I am today if it had not been for those people who helped me 40 years ago! I pray those people that gave to me are blessed x3! I went on to get an apartment, a job, went to college, raised three children who know NOTHING of "street life" or homelessness and became productive college educated people. I live clean, comfortable and content still to this day, ALL POSSIBLE by people whom HELPED me!
Help by paying a bill yourself, pay a landlord, or power company, by a bus pass, a meal etc. Never give cash / money. And remember there is a huge difference between Street Folk and the bottom feeding "Hustler" whom pretend to be Street Folk. Example, some of those people standing on the street island with a sign saying "Please Help Feed Me" HUSTLERS, they have a better home than you and I. The way to help is to KNOW your COMMUNITY!

I spoke with relatives and friends that said she gave up after the diagnosis. Like anyone else, some things you just don't share.

I hate prostitution, but watching this, I think to myself, this is a person who needs support and what she truly needs is not accessible to her. Perhaps it doesn't even exist in her region. I don't know her whole story, but do you? Sometimes the only choices you can see are the ones in front of you and they're ALL bad. So then you might have to choose the lesser evil.

I saw where Angel passed away. So sad to see an obvious intelligent woman who was dealt a bad hand in life. She is an example of bad parenting which is so often the story of many women in her position. If your not loved and nurtured as a child you have nothing to emulate and are constantly in search of love you never had. It's hard to love and respect yourself when you have no well to draw from. Angel did the best she could with the tools given her and now she is no longer with us. I pray that God will supply all her children's needs and that non of them will suffer the way she did. Rest in peace Angel, I hope your in the arms of Jesus and getting the love you so deserved.

Was she expected not to be well spoken or intelligent ? Being homeless is not indicative of intelligence. People need to realize that in order for there to be a middle or upper class there has to be a lower. Someone has to fit that class for you to be able to be in the position you are in. People think hard work is what affords them success but it is mostly race and what class you brought up in that affords you better schools and opportunities.

Madam Luis Please don’t start with that. I was raised in utter poverty in the South Bronx, as well as North Philly. I saw ppl inject drugs, sell pussy, watched the children of hookers and pimps go into foster care, saw ppl killed and shot, as well as had people like that in my family. I could have chosen to follow everything around me.
Well, I didn’t. Even though it was hard, I earned my Bachelor’s and Masters degrees, paying for them by working in law enforcement full time. I always wanted to be an engineer and a scientist, which is why I further pursued a post graduate degree.
Today, I’m an accomplished Computer Engineer and Forensic Scientist. I use my law enforcement skills, as well as computer skills, engineering skills, and scientist skills to solve computer crimes. I’ve reunited so many young women (and some young men) with their families by using my skills to lock up those involved in human trafficking.
While doing all of that, I never did drugs, rarely drink, never had any diseases, and never had any out of wedlock children. I’m where I am today, as I made the choice to not follow what others around me were doing. I made the choice to avoid the “B Side of life.” There are plenty of others, in her shoes, who made the same choices that I’ve made. So, please don’t start your bullshit, as America is the richest country in the world, with plenty of opportunities to avoid that lifestyle, if one so chooses.
Now, as I said, I respect ✊ the woman in this video. She made a choice that worked for her, and was highly intelligent. Women like her actually encouraged me to want a better life for myself. Many of these women also gave me useful knowledge, which helped me to be a good sleuth, as well as to learn how to save more young people from human trafficking.

In PA we have something called a "reality tour" which is basically how it sounds - addicts come in and talk to the kids, former addicts too. My brother died from drugs - I wish they had it when we were little maybe he wouldn't have gotten into them :'(
