    I have a pair of half brogues from their main line and the quality is outstanding. Possibly the best I own, and I own shoes from Carmina, C&J, Cheaney, AE, and a couple others. Excellent leather, love the last, super sleek fiddleback waist, etc. Only Meermin matches the dollar-value (TLB = definitely better quality than Meermin, but Meermin’s are also much cheaper).
    The ONE caveat is that because they are a new and small company, returns can become expensive. Basically you get one free exchange (not refund, and it’s for shoes ONLY-not accessories like belts, etc.). After that, it’s up to you to figure out how to return to Spain, which typically costs around $50+ each way. So definitely do your research before pulling the trigger!
    For reference, I’m a (European) size 10 in my TLBM shoes. In other shoe sizes I am the following:
    For AMERICAN sizes:
    - Allen Edmonds (65 last): 10.5/11 E
    - Adidas and Nike sneakers: 11.5 - 12 (American)
    - Chuck Taylor’s: 11 (American)
    For EUROPEAN sizes, I am:
    - Crockett & Jones (341 last): 10
    - Carmina (Forest last): 10
    - Meermin (Hiro Last): 10.5

    Dear T&H,
    inspired by your Video about TLB, I've been at Toni's in Inca on Mallorca.
    The Artista Line wears true to my european size 10,5 and fitts perfectly.
    The quality of the material, the waist of the sole and the blind stiching are fantastic. I ordered a pair of Velasque in museum bordeaux with a matching belt. Both are made to my order and size and send to my home.
    It was a pleasure to meet with Toni who introduced me to his shoecollection and took personal Care to my wishes.
    Best regards to both of you - and Toni ist def. worth visiting.

I have a pair of Carlos Santos double monks on their way as I love the patina on those shoes. I got them from the Noble Shoe Store and Kostas (the owner) was great. Now, I’m considering a pair of TLB Artista Adelaide’s from TLB. Any feedback would be helpful.

    I will likely never own a pair of shoes in that price range and above, too hard on shoes in general and a bit of a tightwad. However, I do appreciate quality and value for money and value your opinions very highly. Thru the years of working in construction I learned to appreciate what spending more on work boots could provide for you. I believe that it is wonderful that you show those who are into higher end shoes, what they are actually buying besides a name and a look. Your videos are work watching strictly from an entertainment aspect but the education about shoe construction and quality is a wonderful resource for people who are into well crafted footwear. Thank you for your continuing dedication to your craft and to sharing your knowledge with others.

    Interesting review. Thanks. I was pretty shocked going to TLB M's site to see that, unless I'm missing something, in the US sizes, they don't offer various widths and from what I see, don't indicate what width their shoes would be. In AE-sizes, I tend to be a 7.5 EEE or 8E and my fear is that buying one of these off the shelf would not fit me regardless of the size selected.

    Just received my first pair of TLBs. Love them! These are very comfortable shoes, and TLB has great customer service too. Compared to my AEs (which I thought were the bombs) there is a night and day difference in quality of materials and craftsmanship. I ordered theses shoes through a group made to order program. They have JR soles and the little nail pegs in the sole at the toe. And yes I like having my name inside the shoe. Just a few questions:
    1. Do you believe these nail pegs are comparable to toe plates? I am rough on toes of leather soles due to the way I walk.
    2. When my JR soles need replacing, will you replace with JR and the closed channel stitching along with the narrow fiddle back waist?
    3. I noticed that these shoes do not have the rings in the eyelets (grommets?). Is that an issue?
    I love all of your videos and the products you sell. Watching this video was like watching an autopsy on a living being.
    Thanks!

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  Před 3 lety +2

      1) In the long run, no. Toe plates last longer, but the little tacks in the toes are better than nothing.
      2) Yes, we can replace with JR and do just about anything you want...just depends upon how much you’re wanting to spend.
      3) No, it shouldn’t affect the shoe in the long run not having grommets in the eyelets. If it were a rugged work boot, it might, but it shouldn’t with dress shoes.

    Hi. I own a lot Mallorca shoes (Albadadejo-first known Carmina, Yanko, Lotusse, etc) but lately i can not afford then. I also wear big number 13 and its not easy to find shoes. I found a brand call GIORGIO 1858 less than 200€ (and some sales about 80€) Do you know it? How do you think they are? Thanks

    When T&H talked about the need to "dismantle" the shoe, and that is why they didn't want to do it to the artiste line shoes, I thought: "Well, surely, if you pick them apart like you have done earlier and then get it back together, it shouldn't matter". But when the actual dismantling (including cutting it in half) started, I understood their reasoning... You would be hard pressed to make those come back to life...

    I haven't owned leather soled shoes in decades, and the thought of scuffing up that pristine finish would be sickening to me. Heck, it drives me nuts just getting fingerprints on the screen of my iPhone, lol.

    Hey guys just wanted to say great videos on men's shoes. The question I have is. Have you ever work on a pair of Finsbury shoes from France. I travel to Europe very often to see family and shop and I ran across Finsbury while shopping near Strasburg. I really like theshoe and the leather is great. They have rubber soles with what looks like a Blake stich. Just wanted to know your opinion about them. I didn't find much on the net that helped me. So I decided to ask the experts. I would love to know if they are worth the bucks. Thanks in advance.

    Wow huge value for the money. What is the most stitches per inch have you seen? I have same feeling about heel look; not my taste, I prefer Allen Edmonds and full welt. Those JR soles last like a decade because of my rotation.

    • @patrickli9077
      @patrickli9077 Před 3 lety

      I think some bespoke shoes reach high teens to lower twenties. This can only really be done by individually hand stitching every stitch in the sole though, not using a machine. Naturally, it's quite expensive and mainly an aesthetic thing.

  • @CrimFerret
    @CrimFerret Před 3 lety

    Those are really nice shoes. Sadly, per the usual, they don't make them in my size (14). There aren't a lot of choices for me. I wouldn't touch Allen Edmund given their fairly shoddy quality these days. Fortunately, I don't really need dress shoes at this point. Hoping to be able to get a pair of Nick's boots later this year.

    Which shoe company, would you say, manufacturers the highest quality shoes? Would it be Edward Green, or perhaps Gaziano & Girling, or John Lobb or maybe it would be that Romanian company, Saint Crispin's. I don't know. I'm not really an expert, but, I would like to know your opinion, but I doubt if I'll get it.
