I love the diagnose, diagnose, diagnose! If you ainât testing, youâre guessing! Itâs what separates the true professionals from the hacks! Excellent job Mikey đđ
I would stay away from labeling zone valve covers.Good concept but I would go directly on the pipe. I have had homeowners/other technicians take the covers off and mix them up. It screws everybody up on the next service call. Good work though as usual. Evan from New Jersey.
I enjoy watching a true professional at work...you take true pride in your work and it shows! Your apprentices are in good hands...
Me too.
Mike I love this live talk and seeing everyone behind you. You earned it
Love the way you handle yourself with customers. I learn a lot from you about that every time I watch a video.
Great job, as always, Mikey. Your protege is getting a first class education from you. More so that any School could teach. Iâm sure he appreciates it, and you probably appreciate it more!âđđ€
Yeah donât know about knocking school, youâll learn shit in school idiots in the field after 5 years still donât know.
Do you mean school of hard knocks?
Really love you going over all the wiring processes and the thought process you have. Please more! Tech in training.
Keep them coming, they're what I look forward to on my way home while I eat dinner.

Hi
I like your job, clean ,professional ,follow all requirements and the way you complete your job.
This is my personal opinion and I respect your ,for last customer which you said he doesn't have enough money to change thermostat (Honeywell),don't forget he give you business and sometimes it 8s ok to give something without charging special that customer.
Again I like your job and I'm not judging you.
Thank you for your all videos.
Hey Mike I really enjoy your channel Thanks. I used to do Heating in New York City for over 10 years but I used to do mostly commercial and some Residential but mostly Oil and very few Gas I moved to PA and I am into a different trade now. Like I said I really enjoy the way you troubleshoot problems and how you explain Things. This channel is a great help for new and those who are actually in this trade. Keep up the good work đ
ya the schematic was a key to know on a job interview they had me draw out a zone valve diagram out to get the job years ago funny
Nice Vid !
Just so you know - the âOLâ on the Electrical Tester actually means something like âOverloadâ as the measurement is out of the range that can be tested, you can think of it as Open Line when testing continuity, on an appropriate range, but you might also see it if you tried to test for example the 24V supply from the transformer on a 0-20V Voltage Range - try it & see if you like.
Cheers xx
Dunno about Peter PanâŠlooks nothing like Julia Roberts. Great job straightening out all that spaghetti wiring. Happy Turkey Day to the Pipes family!
Hey mike! This is my take on it. For what itâs worth lol. The red and yellow being jumped together would have been the 24Vac to both thermostats(Rh) and the brown would be the (W) for one floor and the white would have been the (W) for the other. The brown should have been wired up to the corresponding motor wire of the zone valve motor, and the white would have gotten wired to the other, the other sides of the two motors should be wired together to 24v common. Than the end switches would be wired in parallel to TT. I would have wired the low water in Series with the TT.
Awesome troubleshoot, impressive.
WE MUST drink every time Mikey says continuity
and potable water
need I say more you're flipping awesome
Youâre very good Mikey pipes
Amazing video mike
#LoveBosch ...đđđ Thx for the entertainment and knowledge ...
What a mess. Nice solution
Mikey every time you are in the Rock nearby I never catch ya lol
hehe why is this boiler temp so high asks Mikey at 26:49.... through the power of video recording we found Mikey turn it up when diagnosing wiring issues 9:24, yay for youtube. But kudos to you for showing the world how you train you're staff in proper techniques and wholistic diagnostic steps.
Quality is like buying oats, if you want the ones that have been through the horse they are cheaper
That is a hot mess !
We got a call for a nest not working properly last year and notes said "customer can't find where the gold wires go". Got to the house and found speaker wire run from the basement all the way up to the 2nd floor. Maybe I'm just weird but I don't want a nest or an Alexa or any other IOT device. Who needs their microwave connected to the internet?
Mikey pipes I have a question does bosh have a communicating system like carrier has the infinity system for gas furnaces and heat pumps
That was once again very interesting for me.
I am also a plumber in Germany and also work with a Testo 320-2.
I am just amazed at the poor efficiency of only 83%.
This means that gas boilers have not been allowed to be operated in Germany for a long time!
Atmospheric gas boilers must have at least 89% efficiency and more, condensate boilers have an average efficiency of 97% -98%, approximately.
Very good job and really interesting for me.
Many tools and materials are the same.
Greetings Mike the German plumber
(sorry for my english :-))
There is a ton of old "low efficiency" equipment in places like NY where I live. The thing is, while it may waste more gas, the equipment is very reliable, easy to fix and easy to source parts. Many of these boilers last 50 years. High efficiency equipment is over complicated, hard to source parts and dont not have the reliability and life expectancy. Whenever the government gets involved in heating and air conditioning they have this uncanny ability to fuck it up. Air conditioning is another great example. The good, low pressure, pure refrigerants are banned ( I dont care what anyone says about chlorine and the ozone thats a bunch of bullshit). Now you have "environmentally friendly" blends which just now getting discontinued due to not being environmentally friendly anymore? Haha. Materials in the coils need to be thinner to meet certain efficiency standards and combined with high pressure refrigerants everything is leaking. I'll take old school reliable system that work for 50+ years over this new stuff any day
To Mike the plumber from Germany... your English is better than many people who were born in the United States
@@TheGhettoLobster I agree 100% that there were systems here in Germany that worked great and lasted for a long time.
Then came the modern systems with compressed technology in a small housing and many problems.
It was always about delivering good work and service to my customers!
But the industry just wants to sell and we have to pay our customers for it.

Wöhler is the brand for the analyzer pricey stuff I have a tempature co CO2 humidity ect meter from them nice stuff

Are you talking about wohler combustion analyzer a450? Iâve been using that for past three years Mike!
That was a hot mess of cabling mamma!
"Buy once, cry once" paying more for the 1 higher-quality part/product is cheaper in the long run than buying multiple cheaper low-quality parts/products.

Is flex has lines for water heater code for NYC?
I like this channel
so, use 3 port wago's and leave a port open instead of the wire nuts?
Nice job, Mike! Ever heard of Bud Boxes?
The guy found out education costs money. No doubt he was the one playing with the wiring or he hired Klem Kaddlehopper. (Red Skeleton)

Whenever I run into abortions like that, the first thing I do is start from scratch.
This means, I take a few pictures for reference, and then take it all apart and start testing each set of wires and label them as I test them. (If you ain't testing, you're guessing! That applies to wiring as well!)
All too often I find someone made a splice and buried it in a wall somewhere due to a remodel or something similar and they were too lazy to run new wires.
As soon as you saw there was one cable for both thermostats it was obvious there was a splice somewhere and likely the splice was messed up.
Glad you got it all figured out but I knew right away from the homeowner's answers, he wasn't telling you everything. It's likely he's the one who did the work and screwed it all up.
As always, thanks for the food. Please keep feeding us!
I hate it when homeowners withhold information
And I'm big on labeling pipes/calves/wires/etc. I do it on any installs, or any service calls where I do a lot of troubleshooting. Saves a lot of time for the 'next guy.' Unfortunately, many people don't think about the next guy.
That was confusing!đ

@@PipeDoctor great can't wait to see how the dishwasher is cleaned and who cleans it?
I think the owner was getting the tenant to pay for his heat ???
I work for you a large Gas/Electric/steam company and Iâve seen a lot of shady Gas and Electric set ups when there is an owner and tenant meters involved. Some tenants catch on but I think the majority get away with it for years. Shame. Shame.

Nice work what a shit show. Not a fan of those Honeywell zone valves. I do a lot of zone valve jobs but we use either 3 wire taco or new 4 wire taco. Much much cleaner looking finish. Keep up the good honest service.

Where did you learn wiring? Did you go to a technical school or learn on the job
@@PipeDoctor I'm a new subscriber and love your videos because I'm interested to learn other low voltage applications. I'm a Surveillance Technician and install cameras and other equipment at my casino but am eager to learn other applications for my home ect.
That's how I learn, by hands on and actually doing it. The lead Surveillance Tech got fired and I got the promotion 2 years ago with VERY little experience. I call it baptism by fire. Figure out the problem because there's no one else. We've upgraded our entire system to digital IP and I'm way more educated and capable of doing the job by learning along the way.
Mikey that house is between the Atlantic ocean and Jamaica bay . He will need heat in a few weeks wit out a doubt . You should have asked him if the guy that installed this had a bread truck ?
