    Great Video, just good clear info. Is this the same procedure for a 2KS C12? or does it need an injector height tool?

    Did you ever post the video on valve positioning? I'm in second year now and just started into engines, a video on valve positioning would be helpful!

      No I haven’t posted one yet. What exactly are you talking about when you say valve position ? Are you talking about firing order ?

      I'm just looking for a good explanation video of where the valves are sitting while the engine is running. Say cylinder one is on compression stroke what are the valves on the rest of the cylinders doing

    Just had my c-12 in for an over head, found 2 broken valve springs, the 2ks had about 600000 miles on it, any ideas why?

    • @jxaxrxlx
      @jxaxrxlx  Před rokem

      If it has 600000 miles on it I wouldn’t be complaining. That’s pretty good going. Parts fail sooner or later. Can’t think of any misuse that would cause springs to break other than rpm over speed.

    Purchasing a truck with a c12 it’s been well maintained should I run the overhead on it because I will be running it pretty steady. Maybe oil and fuel filter and overhead?

    • @jxaxrxlx
      @jxaxrxlx  Před 3 lety +1

      According to Caterpillar the valve lash, injector height and jakes clearance should be done on a PM2 schedule. Which is every 3 years, 144,000 L of fuel 388,000km (240,000miles) or 4200hrs whichever occurs first.
      If you can find out it’s previous maintenance that would be helpful otherwise if the engine sounds good when it runs you could let it go for a while until you have time to do the maintenance.
      Definitely do the oil and fuel filter change 👍🏻

      You will find that an overhead that is done right has a big payback on fuel mileage and performance...With that said I recommend every.80 to one hundred thousand miles..I have seen Cat engines that haven't had overheads in a very long time and the intake.valves become tight damaging the cam shaft and actually causing the engine to drop a valve.
