    OOOoo thank you both for this great discussion, even more excited about the game now! Less excited about the inevitability of Maggie getting annoyed at my AP 😅😂

    I appreciate this review so much!! I was pretty intrigued by this game's premise and early images. Hearing more about the details of it, this feels much more like a game I'd rather experience at a Con: led by an experienced GM and getting to explore without purchasing. I'm not sure this is meant for my collection - my friends are midweight gamers - but I'd really like to give it a whirl.
    Many thanks again. 💗

    I would absolutely play this one! But I don't know how often I could get it to the table! I really enjoyed Pulsar but haven't played it at all in the last few years. So many games!

    Extraordinary review, thank you! I was at Essen with my wife this year and I almost bought this one and Nucleum, (just) for their beautiful covers and boards, but she didn't let me ehehe. But right now, after all that dust have settled, I think I will sneak my self into the store again....

      We won't tell anyone...EXCEPT YOUR WIFE! If you made the trip to Essen, I'm sure you both know each other well enough that these games showing up won't surprise anyone. 🤣

    Thank you for giving us introduction to this game!
    It looks beautiful and intriguing.
    I love medium weight games, but I have problem of sometimes overthinking my turns and almost going into AP, even with simple games like Wingspan, Dog Park, Charterstone... So I don't think this is the game for me, at least not at this point still.😊

    • @meeple
      @meeple  Před 11 měsíci +2

      It could induce some AP in you -- particularly if you're sometimes experiencing that in the games you mentioned. I generally play fast and loose, but this one makes me want to think things through a bit more.

    This looks really cool, and very much up my alley in terms of crunchiness. You mentioned Pulsar, but I'm more curious in how it compares to Underwater Cities in weight.

    • @meeple
      @meeple  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Heavier. For me, this is one of, if not his most weighty games to date. Not so much that it's too much or anything, but the thinking involved is feeling like a 4.0+ type of experience in my opinion.

    • @WeirdSchizo
      @WeirdSchizo Před 11 měsíci +2

      I think Evacuation is quite a bit heavier than Underwater Cities. Though, I've played UC quite often, so it doesn't seem as heavy anymore. Still, I think Evacuation is heavier. there are more rules up front and more mechanisms than in UC. And Evacuation might be a bit tighter in terms of resource management.

    How is the game compared to underwater cities in complexity and weight? It is on my Essen list.

    • @meeple
      @meeple  Před 11 měsíci

      I think it's heavier than Underwater Cities. Of course, I look at UC as a medium+ sort of game. Evacuation feels more like a solidly "heavy" game.

  • @jamesjacobthomson6198

    When you say "step up from pulsar", do you mean in weight or in enjoyment? :)

    • @meeple
      @meeple  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I meant weight-wise. For me, Pulsar is VERY high on my list of all-time favorites, so I'm guessing the weight of this one (for me) will not topple Pulsar. I'm just a medium-weight gamer at heart.

    • @jamesjacobthomson6198
      @jamesjacobthomson6198 Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@meeple I also tend towards medium weight games, but there are a few heavier exceptions, so Evacuation is high on my list of games to try. Cheers for the answer. :)

    So…this or Evenfall? If you could only keep one?

    • @meeple
      @meeple  Před 11 měsíci +3

      Not fair!
      I haven't played Evacuation as much, so this is just a guess, AND for me personally--not a blanket recommendation. Evenfall is just more in my wheelhouse. It does the things l love most in games. This game is very outside my wheelhouse (in terms of weight), but I find myself fascinated by what it does, and I want to play it more right now.

    I know Emily likes Lacerda - how does this game compare to On Mars?

    • @anthonyhamen1357
      @anthonyhamen1357 Před 11 měsíci +2

      it does have a few things in common in that it utilizes two different areas in which you are taking actions, and it is very puzzly. It is a few notches lower in rules overhead and complexity, but is tighter in it’s resource and action economy. On Mars is also much more interactive with players building infrastructure together and utilizing each others’ technologies, whereas the interaction in this game is one of denials.

    • @meeple
      @meeple  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Emily and Jeremy both brought up On Mars early in our play, but the more we played, the more that comparison felt more superficial to them I think. It's obviously a heavier euro set in space, and has traveling back and forth between celestial bodies. But the gameplay itself is quite different.

    • @zrissl
      @zrissl Před 11 měsíci +2

      No. As of now, it's just a competitive game. There is a solo mode though.
