- Cissero is a Blue and Yellow Macaw, also known as a Blue and Gold Macaw. These Macaws are found natively in the more northern region of South America though there is a population found in Florida, which is attributed to escaped or intentionally released pets.

It's like having a toddler. Not much a difference at all. That's why I hate it when people just abandon them because they "don't like their actions."
@@j0ellyfish yeah to me it's like if you had a baby or even adopted, and then didn't like dealing with their actions. You think you can just give it back?!? It's f-ed up people think it's okay to do that.
even when my grey did something bad, I would give her time and space for her to think about it
Must ALWAYS REMEMBER these birds are wild just bc we breed and love them doesn't mean they are Not wild animals. I have Parrots (30 yrs) I WUD love to open the door and say Have A Free Life.. I also have a car seat. My Grey loves it..
The lady literally explained that she doesn't ignore the bad behavior, she just deals with it in a gentle way immediately and then guy in the back says "ignore the bad behavior"
So many ways to skin a cat
I found out by trial and error that blowing sometimes works. But definitely escalating it by making a big deal or yelling, doesn't help. Blowing is a very gentle way of signaling. But otherwise, ignoring the behaviour or redirecting them to something they can bite or chew is the best idea.
He's absolutely right; that's exactly how I handle my conures. I'll definitely integrate her approach as well.
Those sayings are catchy & true.
Dude... anyone who has a bird KNOWS bird have ZERO issues escalating. You smack a small dinosaur it in the beak and youll get attacked rooster style.
Smack a small dinosaur 😭😭🤣🤣
Well eventually they will give up, that is why people keep training them that way I guess?
Not my proudest moment but...
I had to launch one (not my bird, I was visiting) across the room a week or so ago: he had learned that biting *hard* and draw lots of blood gave him space and was developing the habit of biting peoples faces.
I was explaining to him what actions are nice and which ones are not nice. (Just vocalising, giving him space when he was behaving himself etc.)
So when he launched himself towards my face, he definitely got called out on that. I did not hit him, but he did run into my hand all by himself and when he tried again I launched him.
(He flew around the room, landed on the floor, rethought his actions, stepped up and behaved himself. This was a fully flighted and very capable of flying bird, NEVER do this with one you clipped!!)
He sat nicely, accepted a nut and was okay, no more rushing and biting, he got the message.
"Do not bite (me) and everything is okay."
He just needed a "no, stop that" and was okay with that.
No, that is not how I handle my parrots, but this one really was out of control and putting people in the hospital.
He is now back to clickertraining btw., his family realised he really just needed at lot of positive attention/reinforcement and to put his energy to better use.
I hope they (birb and human) all will develop more self-confidence and they will get this one back to being the wonderful bird he can be.
@@muurrarium9460 dam bro you wrote a fucking essay
@@ranveersandhu9414 It happens...
May I ask, instead of keeping a bird in ones home, & then getting mad at the bird for😢 uhhhh, ya know, being a bird, ya think the birds "family" ever wonders if they should be treating an animal that should be enjoying his God given right to fly free, as their trendy companion animal (/pet)?? &since some of these birds live to b 100+ yrs old, & become extremely attached to their human causing the bird to grieve to death from mourning the loss of their human, does anyone ever stop n think that it's better to let the bird be rather than buying them n the first place?
I wish so much people wouldn’t clip these gorgeous birds wings
Well these were clipped by the breeder because the bird is less than a year old however it has grown out a brand new set of flight feathers and so he is fully flighted and you can come to the office and watch them fly around
He's just watching those fingers too get em again..
Stroking him like that is only going to make things a lot worse
It’s not, Cissroe is a really good bird and Jenna is an excellent bird mom
I let my caique bite me all day to stop the fear of the bite. Now when he does it I don’t flinch and tell him to behave. Stops straight away.
Try that on Macaw!
@@zak6754 if I ever want to be an amputee then I will.
@@zak6754I’ve been bit by a macaw, suprisingly it really didn’t hurt at all, probably because they didn’t have the intention to kill me though lol
Peach or black. Peach are friendlier. Been bit by one . Might as well have been a McCaw .. or Grey.. 😥🥴
Touching the belly is not so good.
That's why he maybe bite the finger.
But in the end she tried to touch unter the wing.
That's a absolute no go zone for a bird.
@Joisa22, thank you for pointing out these important details about handling birds, especially sensitive species like macaws. You're right, touching certain areas such as the belly or under the wings can be uncomfortable for birds and may provoke a defensive response, such as biting. It's crucial for handlers to understand and respect a bird's body language and comfort zones to ensure interactions are safe and stress-free for both the bird and the handler.
Your insights are valuable, and sharing them helps educate others on the proper ways to interact with these magnificent creatures. Keep watching @WildlifeCommandCenter for more educational content about handling and caring for various wildlife responsibly.

That was no bite lol. My ex girlfriend had a Cockatoo and I always got along with him. One day he snapped and damn near bit through my knuckle. Had to get stitched up..luckily no nerve damage. Still the worst a parrot can do it send you to the ER. Some dogs can send you to the grave.
Absolutely right dog bitr are worser than parrot bite and im talking from experince
I like how he goes “aaah” before biting, that’s very polite of him
Don't pet macaws anywhere that isn't on their heads either.
Anywhere else on the body is a stimulative action and invites a lot more aggression. A bird going thru puberty makes it a lot worse!
Did the banjo 🪕 give you this insight, or do you have credentials?
@@WildlifeCommandCenterMy sister is an ornithologist, she’s explained to me before that on most birds basically everything but the head is an erogenous zone, and stimulating them can induce unwanted… behavior 😂

How can a bird owner not know that you shouldn't pet it on the belly... That's so irresponsible. No wonder he's biting you, you're frustrating that poor boy. 🤮
Okay, I've made up my mind, I want that bird. So ADORABLE his he. Thank U my dear for sharing that wonderful animal with us.

Hehe. That's why I love parrots. They're chaos demons.
As soon as they did the wing stretch, I couldn't stop myself from saying Big Wings.
He is such a big boy! I love him so much! Thank you so much for commenting!
Wait...Why are you petting his belly? I thought you were only supposed to pet their head, neck, or feet....Hear never pet wings, underwings back or belly. Was I misinformed?
Oddly enough I discovered this blowing in the face when getting bitten and they won’t let go…. I have an adolescent middle school/pubescent/teenager 4-5 month old male kitten who’s kinda in the same hormone stages the mcaw is.
He gets crazy, moody, bitey, spicy, bursting with energy, and sometimes he’ll get so worked up or he doesn’t have a good attitude about having his nails clipped & he’ll clamp down on you with his kitten needle teeth and won’t let go! 😅 it seriously hurts! The most effective thing I’ve tried is blowing hard into his ears and it turns off the bite switch! He looks kinda puzzled as to why I did that and “ what’s the problem? “ 😂
I love him dearly and he’s a good boy when he’s run and played out his kitten energy! ❤
Why would you clip his nails?

I really hope you're not the one(s) who clipped this beautiful bird's wings. If you don't want an animal that flies, don't get a bird. Bird harnesses exist, free flying exists, and solely indoor living exists. STOP CLIPPING WINGS. Clipping a bird's wings severely limits their escape chances and options, whilst simultaneously limiting the bird's movement and functionality overall/in general. THEE ONLY reason to clip a bird's wings is if the bird is blind and hurting itself by flying into things.
Petting parrots on their backs and bellies sexually stimulates and excites them. You're telling them you want to mate and make babies when you pet those areas. Stop. This is part of the reason your precious dinosaur is biting you.
No we didn't clip his wings, he is now molted his new wings feathers in and is fully flighted and his recall is excellent. Petting his belly has nothing but nothing to do with anything! So thank you for your input and may your parrot be as happy as ours!
I thourght you was telling him to giggle for a sec 😂❤

I love parrots.
I have two grown boys, 26 and 31. I promise you there were a few knuckle sandwiches along the way.
I caught the strap when I misbehaved. Doubt that would work on birds though. I like her method. Blow in their face. Maybe a spray bottle. Spray bottle trains cats REALLY well. Haha
@@WildlifeCommandCenter Indeed. My pops gave me a couple too. I deserved them though. I was being a real hoodlum. Haha
@@WildlifeCommandCenter so why is it different with an animal? obviously not a full knuckle sandwich but a light tap.
the key with discipline is only discipline when they are misbehaving. and ALSO reward good behavior.
you cant just do one or the other.
I remember one time I was at a bird shop. I was standing next to a spot where a parrot of this breed was perched. He side stepped towards me and held out his talon. He wanted to stand on my arm, so I let him. For the most part he mainly stood but occasionally he would affectionately nip at my thumb but damn that coiled beak stung even when he was just being playful.
They have a higher bite force on the end of that beak than a shark!
@@michelehemlokhexwhite4310lol not true 😂
Hit a bird? Oh my gosh, NO! They are not for hitting! Just don't put your thumb in his mouth. 😂❤ I only have small birds. Cockatiel & conure are my biggest. So I have no experience with birds that can really hurt. Bad people make bad birds. No such thing. Just misunderstood and heaps of people get a bird. Want it to act like a cat or dog. Cut their wings so they can't get away. Have no understanding of bird body language. Get them all heightened. They can't get away, they aren't being listened too. They only get seed diet. And then the only way they have left to say no is to bite. And then suddenly it's a "bad bird" 👎 Don't hit birds. Practice recall. And like you said, catch them behaving and reward, and try to not reinforce the icky. 🎉 ❤

I thought the thing you were gonna say not to do is sexually stimulate and frustrate the bird by stroking the belly (or back)... And you wonder why he's so bitey.
Cats do this too! If you pet them too long, they get, uh , “over stimulated”, and will react with biting. It’s kind of a natural reaction with cats
@leavemealone093 Why isn't this the top comment man
Exactly my thought. She's out here petting it's belly and then being like "He's in a bite phase." Hmm I wonder why. 🤔🤷♀️
Even if he became bitey and hormonal before she started doing this, that's only more of a reason not to pet his belly. That's gonna make it even worse. You're not your bird's romantic partner. The head and neck is friendly territory, anywhere else is a romantic gesture.
For the life of me I have never seen a mother macaw hold her baby like that in the wild please help.

I had birds, they're too damn loud I'll never have another.
You had some bored assed birds. Dint gwt anymore.
What would make you think birds aren't loud? They make noise like any other creature does.
Definitely don’t get one if you love peace and quiet! These birds are very social and express it by making a ruckus of noise and talk! I had a neighbor once that had a large cockatoo, and they would just leave it outside on the deck. It would just make ungodly screeching all day! The type of people who would get exotic pets, but never put in the work, then ignore them until they got a new pet! Assholes!
Too me, getting a pet is making a commitment of time and effort to make them a part of your family and your life! They are NOT toys you play with for a couple of months until you get bored and want to move on to something else!!
@@gkennedy0969 you're right tho generally they make way more noise than other animals. But if you're buying a pet you should definitely research first to make sure its right for you and your lifestyle. If you end up with pets through saving animals you randomly find, like I have throughout life, if you find an animal and realize you won't be able to keep it, your responsibility, once you accepted it by taking in that animal, is to do your very best to find a good home for it, with someone who will love and keep it.
@@BooBuKittyPhuk I'm presuming your talking about injured animals or actual domesticated type of normal pets kinda like cats & dogs though.... Rather than going out and catching a wild animal like a chipmunk or squirrel or something and then if they realize it's not right for them trying to re-home it and keep it in captivity right?
If so then yes I do totally agree. That's exactly what I did before I ever got my pet birds. I watched tons of CZcams videos from other bird owners and experts and did research on foods and how loud they are and when and the proper thing to do in order to attempt to curb negative behavior by rewarding only good behavior but not trying to punish them in any way for negative behavior, as well as training etc. etc.
