This has to be the greatest piece of music ever written.See the looks on some of the players faces???? They know they are playing a geniuses creation. This is timeless. What a genius White is.r.i.p.
I'm 60 years old and this album was the first I ever bought! You must understand I lived in a rural town in Utah. And in fact I had no idea of the name of the song I wanted to buy. I had to write ABC sports to find out the name of the song that they played during their shows open. Keep in mind this is snail mail days and it was quite an undertaking you're a lad of my age couldn't have been more than 10 or 11. Having received my answer from ABC sports the title Love's theme by the Love unlimited orchestra and led by Barry White. Armed with this knowledge I boldly went 30 miles to the next town to place on order the album. 3 to 6 weeks later I was informed it was in! When I went to pick it up having prepaid, I told the clerk my name and the name of the artist. He found it took one look at it and the name and said he doesn't look very white to me. Such is the place I grew up. We can do better and Barry taught us how.
Me too! I would lay in the backseat, & let this song fill my head! I had to search & search, for this song. It wasn't easy to find. And then, it's Barry White? My son is a conductor, I sent it to him. It's like the nugget of Gold in life.
very underrated song. One of the Best songs ever written from any genre of music. If there is a heaven, this song should be played when you enter the pearly gates.
The worst part is, we may never get good music ever again, atleast theres a lot of good oldies out there. It's the same in the cinematic industry, they're either remaking shit because they have terrible uncreative writers, or their new movie sucks beyond belief.
Barry White once said he had the music for this song in his head since he was a teenager, but the time just wasn't right to bring it out. I'd say when he did finally decide to do it, his timing was great...lol
One of the guitarists was a young Ray Parker Jr. The other was Melvin "Wah Wah" Ragin You'll catch a glimpse of the rythym section and you'll see Ray with the big afro. Melvin Ragin is seen from the back
This is truly a wonderful and classical masterpiece from 1974. Sometimes, I wish I was a twenty year old in the 1970s because it is too bad we don't hear music like this anymore. Most of the music now can be full of crap
Brings tears in my eyes and i was born in 1981, not even in the 70's. This is music in it's higher form people, it gets no better than that. It's over 40 years old and in another 100 years it will still be great. They don't make music like this anymore.
tommyBatts1 YES!!! We missed out, I was born in 1977. I have heard many orchestra play this song, there was no fire. There is nothing better than the original song. R.I.P Barry White
Totally agree... I'm also 1981 baby and absolutely think pop songs like this, which utilize complex orchestra arrangements are absolutely among the most musically intelligent and certainly most beautiful out there.
Idk why but I think of all love theme vids on CZcams. I found this version most soothing , just right not too fast too slow. Everything well balanced. Love this tune
I was 13 when I first heard this song. I fell in love with the Love Unlimited Orchestra. I have the complete orchestra, Barry Whites"s and Gene Page's collection of all albums and singles. That's how much I love them.
This was the year my first nephew was born...I was just 9 years old myself. Back then we were groovin' to beautifully played music, such as this, on actual instruments! THANKS a MILLION for sharing the LIVE side of true ART :-)
So much better than the later version where Barry made the heinous mistake of adding a vocal track. This music is just awesome. The french horns could blow me away on their own - literally.
OMG, this still sends chills when I hear this masterpiece. Being a little 11 yr old when I first heard it, I was influenced to learn the piano and when I entered middle school to join the orchestra. I was in awe. All props to the Maestro, Mr Barry White. Thank you for being an innovator.
This is one of my childhood favorites. If you're in my age group, you should remember this was the theme song for ABC sports for its golf coverage. WPIX also used it in the mid 70's to close their action news.
It gives me chills when I see "The Maestro" conducting the orchesta, nothing less than genius, one of the greatest pieces of music, of all time. I can play this all day long. RIP Maestro.
2:35 to 2:46. Says it all really, 10 or so seconds of pure, unadulterated, expressive, expansive negritude. Who ever said being black was ever a curse. Now don’t het me wrong, everybody brings _something_ to the party but man, _nobody_ does it like the brothers - fling Glodean and the sisters into the mix and it’s almost too much to take in all at once! _Love_ this arrangement and to Gene Page - you took the excellent to the sublime on this one, I’m telling you..!! Will _never_ get bored of hearing/watching this - EVER!
Barry sang some, but this is obviously what he really did...this is his best work! an awesome meld of classical and modern. He's having such a great time leading this orchestra!
As good as it gets, groundbreaking, paradigm shift in our brains! Consider, we had guys like Barry White, Curtis Mayfield, and Isaac Hayes coming up with stuff like this.
The best instrumental to ever make it into the top forty ever from one of tghe greatest musical arrangers and the greatest basso profundo of all time. I wish more kids got the chance to listen to what real music sounds like. Barry beats Herbie Hancock to death.
I bought this sing as my first 45RPM record and still have it today (41 years later!). It was my favorite song back then and it's still my favorite song today. Such a classic!
Insrumentals like this don't make it on The Charts these days, which is a sad state of affairs for The Music Industry. By the way, I loved this tune in 1974; Still do.
This has to be the greatest piece of music ever written.See the looks on some of the players faces???? They know they are playing a geniuses creation.
This is timeless.What a genius White is.r.i.p.
They're certainly familiar with Bach, Mozart, etc. but this is in its own classification.

That’s the way we did it for long time.. thats why Im amazed by the apps that let u know the song in 10 seconds
Me too! I would lay in the backseat, & let this song fill my head! I had to search & search, for this song. It wasn't easy to find. And then, it's Barry White? My son is a conductor, I sent it to him. It's like the nugget of Gold in life.

The good old days. Miss Barry White. Left to soon. I'm sure he's making music in heaven. Love Unlimited Amazing !
That has to be the coolest rhythm section I've ever seen .
I was watching this at home live.
I just thought music would ALWAYS be this great.Music today sucks soooo terribly.
The worst part is, we may never get good music ever again, atleast theres a lot of good oldies out there. It's the same in the cinematic industry, they're either remaking shit because they have terrible uncreative writers, or their new movie sucks beyond belief.
What a difference in sound to have REAL string instruments,
not synth samples.
I'm a cellist
and would have loved to be playing with them.
exactly. Always nice to see the real thing.
That's one of the reasons I love disco music so, the real orchestra sound in so many disco songs. 😁
I was first chair violinist conducted by Leonard Bernstein and I have one word for this piece. Brilliant.
Barry White once said he had the music for this song in his head since he was a teenager, but the time just wasn't right to bring it out. I'd say when he did finally decide to do it, his timing was great...lol
Si esa música ya estaba en su corazón!!! Solo Dios la pudo enviar!!!
Amen
This is real music, with that funky orchestra fusion!
all those guitarists playing different parts...genious
One of the guitarists was a young Ray Parker Jr. The other was Melvin "Wah Wah" Ragin
You'll catch a glimpse of the rythym section and you'll see Ray with the big afro. Melvin Ragin is seen from the back
What a musical genius he was to put the disco sound with the orchestra. Absolutely fantastic sound.
Barry White

Best version. Bongos make the difference!
This is how music should be played, and to think many of them are no longer with us,or very old,we should embrace there talents.

I agree and Barry White had one of the sexiest singing voices I have ever heard.
Totally agree....easily a top 10 of any ever written! Maestro!

I was 13 when I first heard this song. I fell in love with the Love Unlimited Orchestra. I have the complete orchestra, Barry Whites"s and Gene Page's collection of all albums and singles. That's how much I love them.
I was a kid in the 70s when this came out...loved it then...still love it now. Music like this is why I'm so old school.
Wah wah watson in guitar. It’s unmistakable.
The Most beautiful piece of music by Barry White!
Disco in its beautiful, natural, lush beginning. Just perfect. This is off the charts. 🌐

One of the most dynamic insrtumentals of The 70's; Too bad they don't make them like this anymore.

A True Music Masterpiece from the Maestro himself.
Barry White was one of a kind, he was accepted by society to be overweight because he can, because he is the maestro Barry White.
Better than the original, the rhythm section is out of this world. Barry White was an under appreciated musical genius.
Totally agree - I love the original but this version is even so much better!
Man, do I miss the 70's!!!!!!
this masterpiece hasn't even been attempted in this form..True music will and must go back to the origin of the art;which is Music..
2:35 to 2:46. Says it all really, 10 or so seconds of pure, unadulterated, expressive, expansive negritude. Who ever said being black was ever a curse.

Bravo maestro!
Wow this song still gives me chills. The Maestro Barry White was a true musical genius!!
At 68, I remember the one I had to let go.
Youth fades, but the memories. Passion took first without reason.
The Love Unlimited Orchestra, MFSB, Funk Brothers(with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra)were the bands of the 1970s as well as the Salsoul Orchestra
